Congress should take tuition from me to be effective opposition: Nadda in RS
The senior BJP leader also accused the Opposition of resorting to "anarchism" and not democracy while stopping other members from speaking in the House after being allowed by the Chair.
Nadda's words of advise came after Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge raised strong objections to deployment of security personnel in the House to stop the Opposition MPs from protesting in the well of the House.
The Opposition has been protesting over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Bihar and have demanded a discussion on it in the House as well as its rollback.
Nadda lauded the Chair for its ruling on Opposition's objections to not allow them to exercise their right to protest.
The day is "historic" as the observations made by the Chair will prove to be reference point in running the Upper House in years to come, he added.
As Nadda was speaking, Opposition members made an uproar and shouted slogans.
"You (opposition) do not have the capacity to listen to the truth," he said.
Nadda said the Chair has clearly ruled that disruption of House proceedings is undemocratic and against the rules.
"I have told them many times that I have been in the Opposition for more than 40 years, take tuition from me. I will guide you how to oppose and be in the Opposition," Nadda said.
He taunted the Congress, saying that the party has to remain in Opposition for another 30-40 years and hence should consider taking tuition from him.
"Take tuition from me. I will tell you how to function as as Opposition... There are many ways of creating disturbance," Nadda said.
Referring to Kharge quoting former leader of opposition Arun Jaitley who used to say that disruption is part of democracy, Nadda said when other members are stopped from speaking in the House despite being allowed by the Chair, the Opposition's right to protest ends there.
"If in a democracy, if you use 'lathi' and when it hits my nose... your democracy ends where my nose starts. That is what you have to understand," the BJP President said.
He asserted that no Opposition member has the right to stop any other member from speaking in the House.
"This is undemocratic. This is anarchism," the BJP leader said.
On the deployment of security personnel, Nadda said, "Any person who is in the House to maintain discipline and decorum by the order of the chair, he is not a member of para-military forces and he is considered to be a marshall."

BRS opposes SIR, favours return to paper ballot voting
HYDERABAD: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Tuesday expressed serious concerns over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar and also on the use of EVMs in the polls. During a meeting with the Election Commission of India in Delhi, the BRS leader said that the SIR exercise was unwarranted, especially with elections on the horizon, and cautioned that it could lead to large-scale voter deletion, especially among migrant and disadvantaged communities. 'Documents like Aadhaar and voter ID must suffice for voter eligibility,' he added. The BRS delegation, which also comprised Rajya Sabha members KR Suresh Reddy and Vaddiraju Ravichandra, former MP B Vinod Kumar, and senior leaders Balka Suman and RS Praveen Kumar, made a representation to the Chief Election Commissioner, calling for withdrawal of the current SIR in Bihar.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Calling for more dynamic, movement-oriented initiatives outside Parliament, CPI(ML) Liberation general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said the INDIA bloc was not formed solely for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. 'You can see many coordinated moves by the INDIA front in Parliament. Similar initiatives should be made outside too,' Bhattacharya said. Delivering the 24th N Narendran Memorial Lecture at the YMCA Hall in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday, Bhattacharya also emphasised on the need for united efforts to fight the 'fascist offensive in the country'. Referring to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, he said, 'If they get away with this in Bihar, they will apply it everywhere else; it could be Kerala tomorrow.' The CPI(ML) leader was speaking on the topic 'Bihar: Trial run for mass disenfranchisement'. Calling the SIR an invasive reconstruction of electoral rolls, he said it was unacceptable to see 66 lakh people being ejected from the rolls despite a list with their names having been released in January this year. 'The ECI (Election Commission of India) officials want us to believe their claim that 22 lakh people died and 35 lakh people migrated from Bihar in six months. If you are a Dalit, a Muslim, or a woman, you could be considered dead in the list. But if you are a privileged NDA supporter, then you will make it to the rolls,' he said. According to the SIR norms, most workers who migrate to different parts of the country will not be considered ordinary residents of the state, leaving them in an identity crisis, he said.
