Congress MP Manickam Tagore
on Tuesday accused the Centre of "systematically blocking" the working of the
Parliament

He said that the government doesn't want the Parliament to function. The opposition wants to hold discussions on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar, but the government remains afraid, Tagore added.

"We want a discussion in Parliament on the deletion of the voter list, or the
electoral reforms
, or the electoral process, or the voter inclusion part. We know that the government is afraid of the word SIR being discussed in Parliament, but we are ready to discuss any kind of thing related to voting. The government doesn't want the Parliament to function because it has been systematically blocking the working of the Parliament for the past 12 days. Because of its arrogance, the government is not allowing, and the Parliament is not functioning," Tagore told ANI.
He further questioned Prime Minister
Narendra Modi
, asking about his absence from the Parliament and his refusal to respond to the decisions being made by
US President Donald Trump
.
"We all know that when Trump tweets, Modi keeps silent and he goes on 'maun vrat'. He sends his 12th man to bat. By rules, the 12th man doesn't have the authority to bat, but in Modi's new India, the 12th man - the Foreign Secretary goes to defend Modi. Is this the leadership? We need to understand and ask why Modi is afraid to speak against Trump. Why is he not ready to come to Parliament and make a statement on the Trump tariff and take retaliatory measures? Modi is silent and he has surrendered to Trump's agenda," Tagore added.
Live Events
Earlier in the day, Senior Congress leader
Jairam Ramesh
mocked the claims regarding friendship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump, saying that their bond has proved to be expensive for the country.
He said that several events were organised, including photo ops, to strengthen the claims that Trump and PM Modi were old friends.
"There is a popular song 'Dost dost na raha'. PM must also know the song. 'Dost dost na raha, Trump yaar hamein tera aitbaar na raha'. They conducted 'Howdy Modi' and 'Namaste Trump'. They said 'Abki baar Trump sarkar'. There were photo ops. Our EAM was sitting in the first row during the inauguration of President Trump. Claims were made that the PM shares a special bond with President Trump, that they are old friends," Ramesh, who is Congress Rajya Sabha MP, told ANI.
These remarks come after a recent social media post from Trump threatening the levying of secondary
tariffs on India
for buying Russian crude oil became a source of worry.
On Tuesday, Trump said that he will "substantially" raise tariffs on India given its ongoing purchase of oil from Russia.

‘Hubaahu Donald Trump jaisa hai': Pakistani ‘bhainsa' with white hair and blue eyes goes viral, and it's worth Rs 25 lakh

Synopsis A Pakistani man's white bull, named after Donald Trump, has become an internet sensation due to its perceived resemblance to the former US President. The owner humorously points out the bull's white coat, golden tufts, and blue eyes as uncanny similarities. Donald Trump Bhainsa In an unusual and humorous moment from across the border, a white bull in Pakistan has captured global attention after its owner named it after former US President Donald Trump. A video of the bull, referred to locally as a 'bhainsa', has gone viral on social media, thanks to its uncanny features that the owner claims resemble Trump video, reportedly filmed in Pakistan, shows a visibly proud man standing next to his massive white bull. He tells the person behind the camera that he has named the animal "Donald Trump" because of its bright white coat, golden tufts of hair, and striking blue eyes. "Dekho iske baal, hubahoo uske jaise hain. Aur aankhein bhi neeli hain," he says—pointing out that the bull's hair and eye colour remind him of the former US President. The bull, calm and well-groomed, is seen standing quietly as the man describes its 'Trump-like' attributes with a video quickly spread across social media platforms, sparking laughter, curiosity, and a wave of memes. Users commented on the bull's regal presence, calling it 'presidential' and joking that it had the same 'commanding look' as Donald Trump. Some said the resemblance was closer than expected, especially the 'signature' white-blond hair. "At this point, nothing surprises me anymore. A Trump bhainsa in Pakistan? Sure, why not!" read one post. Another user wrote, "This is the kind of content the internet was invented for." This isn't the first instance of animals being named after global leaders, but it might be the most visually convincing one yet. From goats named after footballers to dogs named after celebrities, animal lovers around the world often use humour when naming their pets or makes this moment stand out is how seriously the Pakistani owner makes his case, noting that he genuinely sees a resemblance between the former US President and his prized bull.

Time to redouble efforts, not pull apart, says US-India Business Council amid U.S.-India tariff row

Amid the ongoing row over the tariffs and penalties imposed by the Trump administration on India, citing India's trade relations with Russia, the US-India Business Council (USIBC) said on Thursday (August 7, 2025) that it is 'time to redouble our efforts, not pull apart.' U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday (August 6) signed an executive order imposing an additional 25% tariff on imports from India, in response to India 'directly or indirectly' importing oil from Russia. This is over and above the 25% tariff on Indian imports that Mr. Trump approved on July 31. Also Read | Trump's broad tariffs go into effect, hit goods from major U.S. trading partners Ambassador (ret.) Atul Keshap, President, USIBC, in a statement said, 'The partnership the United States and India have forged in recent years has brought significant mutual benefits, and our elected leaders should be proud of all they've accomplished.' 'The business community sees our shared strategic interests and complementary economies as powerful arguments to continue on this path. It's time to redouble our efforts, not pull apart. Business stands ready to help.', he added. Earlier, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) responded to these latest developments, saying it has made its stand clear — through an earlier statement following Mr. Trump's threat of additional tariffs — that these actions were 'unfair, unjustified and unreasonable'. It was 'extremely unfortunate' that the U.S. has chosen this course of action, the MEA said.

Indias response to Trumps tariff announcement! Stir in America!

videoDetails India's response to Trump's tariff announcement! Stir in America! Yashwant Bhaskar | Updated: Aug 07, 2025, 11:04 AM IST US President Donald Trump is constantly threatening India. Trump, who had given big positive updates about the India-US Trade Deal in the past, suddenly surprised everyone by imposing a high tariff of 25 percent on India (US Tariff on India). Not only this, he also threatened additional penalty for continuing to buy oil and weapons from Russia. After India's stand on Russian Oil Import, US tariff threats are increasing day by day. He even called the Indian economy a 'Dead Economy'. But, the purchase of Russian oil is not the only reason Trump is angry, there are many other reasons too.
