Red River Rivalry beef breaks out in Denver Broncos camp between former Longhorn, Sooner
Mims let the media in on the beef last week. Mims says the smack-talking at practice is all Roach, who happens to be Mims' locker neighbor. "I sit next to him in the locker room, guy doesn't shut up," Mims said of Roach. "He's talking crap to receivers. It's like, 'Dude, like, you're a fat guy. Like, go worry about that. Leave me alone.' But, no, we're always going back and forth. But with him, it's just a whole 'nother deal."
Roach addressed Mims the next day to the media. "Y'all think I really worry about 19, bruh?" Roach said. "I see him every day at the locker right by mine. He talk all -- you all think I talk, he really talk more than me -- but, I ain't worried about Marvin. Because Marvin know he not about to cut that ball back across the middle. That's all I really have to say on that. And Marvin like a mosquito, bro, like he need to worry about that. I could lose this weight. He can't change them looks."
Roach, a 6-3, 290-pound defensive tackle, towers over the 5-11, 182-pound Mims. The 27-year-old Roach is coming off the best season with 43 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Mims was an All-Pro last year after totaling 1,147 all-purpose yards and scoring six touchdowns in 2024. Both will be key players for the Broncos in 2025.

Longhorns Running Back duo recognized on Doak Walker Award watch list
Longhorns stars Baxter, Wisner in the running for the Doak Walker Award The Texas Longhorns running back duo of CJ Baxter and Quintrevion Wisner is making headlines. On Tuesday, the Longhorns stars were selected to the preseason watch list for the Doak Walker Award. Each year, the award is given to the nation's most outstanding college running back. For Baxter, this is not unfamiliar territory. It is the second time during his college career that he has earned a spot on the watch list. In three seasons with the Longhorns, the Florida native played in 12 games and made six starts. While he missed all of last season after sustaining a season-ending injury during fall camp, he has impressed when healthy. During the 2023 campaign, the Edgewater High School product recorded 659 rushing yards on 138 carries. He also found the end zone five times while averaging 4.8 yards per carry. The talented running back was a valuable asset in the passing game, hauling in 24 catches for 156 yards. As Baxter looks to provide a boost in his return, Texas will also have Wisner as a weapon to turn to. He landed a spot on the preseason watch list following a stellar 2024 campaign. In 15 games last season, the Texas native set career highs in carries with 226 and rushing yards with 1,064. The DeSoto High School product also averaged 70.9 yards per game. With Baxter healthy and Wisner back in Texas, the Longhorns' running game is in good hands. They can both frustrate defensive coordinators with their speed and make an impact in the passing game. That is why they find themselves in the mix for one of the most prestigious awards in college football. While the Longhorns duo is on adding a national title to their resumes, they will also be watching how voting breaks down. The winner of the Doak Walker Award will be revealed on The Home Depot College Football Awards in December. Wisner and Baxter are hoping that when the final votes are cast, they will have a reason to celebrate. Former Texas Longhorn Doak Walker Winners: 1997: Ricky Williams 1998: Ricky Williams 2004: Cedric Benson 2016: D'Onta Foreman 2022: Bijan Robinson
