NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday described India as the world's most ancient living civilisation. Speaking at the centenary celebrations of Acharya Shri Vidyanand Ji Muniraj, he said, 'India is a service-oriented country, a humanity-oriented country, and our government has granted Prakrit the status of a 'classical language' while also running a campaign to digitise India's ancient manuscripts.'
'To further enrich our cultural heritage, more such significant works need to be done,' the Prime Minister added.
He emphasised, 'India has endured for thousands of years because its ideas, philosophical thought, and worldview are eternal.' He described India as 'a nation defined by service and guided by humanity,' adding that India introduced the power of non-violence to the world. Modi asserted, 'India's spirit of service is unconditional—beyond self-interest and inspired by selflessness,' and noted that his government acts with people's participation in mind.
'All our efforts will be in the spirit of Jan Bhagidari, with the mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas.' Calling the centenary celebration a historic spiritual moment, he said, 'It carries the memory of an era and echoes the life of a great ascetic.'
Modi was conferred the title 'Dharm Chakravarti', which he humbly accepted and dedicated to Mother India. Remembering Acharya Vidyanand as a patriot, musician and Digambar Muni, he said the Acharya's life was a means of social and cultural reconstruction.
He highlighted the recognition of Prakrit as a classical language and digitisation of Jain scriptures as part of India's cultural preservation efforts, adding that the nation must continue such initiatives with the same spirit of collective effort.

Stay vigilant to safeguard Constitution: PM on Emergency

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday recalled the 'dark chapter of Emergency' imposed 50 years ago and urged citizens to remain vigilant to safeguard the Constitution. In his monthly Mann Ki Baat radio address, the PM quoted three prominent politicians from different ideologies, including two former prime ministers, to showcase how people from all walks had joined hands against imposition of Emergency in 1975. Modi played archival audio recordings of speeches by former prime ministers Morarji Desai and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and former home minister Jagjivan Ram, recounting the atrocities faced by people during the Emergency period. The PM quoted Desai as saying, 'The oppression that happened for two years... reached its peak when Emergency was imposed on people and people were treated inhumanely.' Modi added, 'This is the voice of the former PM of the country, Morarji Bhai Desai, who spoke about the Emergency in a brief but very clear manner.' 'You can imagine what that period was like. Those who imposed Emergency not only murdered our Constitution but also had the intention to keep the judiciary as their slave,' he said. The PM noted that over one lakh people were jailed, and politicians like George Fernandes were chained, with many enduring 'severe torture' under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA). He mentioned Jagjivan Ram, who called the post-Emergency election 'a great campaign to strengthen the foundation of democracy', and Vajpayee, who described it as 'a peaceful revolution' that 'threw the killers of democracy into the dustbin of history'. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 식후 혈당, "이것" 하나면 고민 필요없다. 단 2주만에..! 당뇨 관리 더 알아보기 Undo Shifting to other issues, the PM also mentioned the 10th International Day of Yoga (IDY) on June 21, which saw global participation. Sacrifice & discipline are foundations of true patriotism: Sarbananda Sonowal

New Delhi [India], June 29 (ANI): Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW), Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday attended the Golden Jubilee inaugural celebrations of the Prajapita Brahma Kumaris, praising the organisation's fifty years of selfless service rooted in spirituality, social harmony, and character building, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways said in a release on Sunday. In his keynote address, he described the Brahma Kumaris as a 'transformative force' guiding society away from negativity and toward moral clarity through the power of meditation, human values, and spiritual discipline. 'For the last fifty years, the Prajapita Brahma Kumaris have nurtured not just individual souls but the very soul of our society,' said Sonowal. 'Their tireless service mirrors the vision of 'Antyodaya', the rise of the last person in the queue that Prime Minister Narendra Modi champions in his governance.' Sonowal noted how Prime Minister Modi's inclusive development model, driven by compassion, character, and empowerment of the marginalised, aligns with the values upheld by the Brahma Kumaris. 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas is not merely a slogan, it is a spiritual commitment toward unity and upliftment,' Sonowal said in a statement. 'Sacrifice, patience, and moral Strength are the pillars of a strong nation,' he said. Drawing parallels between maternal virtues and national character, Sonowal said, 'Just as a mother moulds a child with patience and values, organisations like the Brahma Kumaris shape society by nurturing character, self-discipline, and self-realisation.' He emphasised that sacrifice and discipline are not old-fashioned ideals but timeless virtues that lay the foundation for true patriotism and national pride. Reiterating the need to guide today's youth amid rapid technological and societal changes, Sonowal observed, 'In today's world, where patience is often tested and values are constantly challenged, the one who possesses Sahan shakti, the strength of endurance, is our Maha Shakti.' Union Minister Sonowal expressed his gratitude to the organisation for including him among such noble company and acknowledged the Northeast's growing spiritual and developmental importance in India's national vision. 'Prime Minister Modi has described the Northeast as Ashta Lakshmi--eight embodiments of prosperity. And I believe this region will lead not just in economic growth but in spiritual and moral leadership as well,' said Sonowal. Union Minister Sonowal praised the Brahma Kumaris for their unwavering mission of character building, national unity, and spiritual guidance. 'If we move forward guided by these principles, we can truly build a strong, united, and morally empowered Maha-Bharat.' (ANI)
