'150 overs out there for us… the new ball is doing a bit,' he said, pointing to the late swing and seam movement India's pacers exploited with the second new ball under lights. It allowed the visitors to strike early, reducing England to 77 for 3 by stumps.

Describing the current mood in the England camp, Patel said, 'Tight minds and tight bodies at the moment.
It's physical as well as mental.' With England trailing by over 500 runs and the Test slipping away, he emphasised the need for recovery, adding, 'Rest will be beneficial going forward.'
Poll
Will England's bowlers bounce back on Day 3?
Yes, definitely
Maybe, if conditions improve
No, unlikely
I have no opinion
While England struggled to get much out of the Edgbaston surface, Patel conceded that India's bowlers made better use of the conditions. 'India used the new ball really well,' he remarked.
Looking ahead to Day 3, Patel suggested that batting might get a bit easier as the ball gets older. 'Another day tomorrow and older ball has been softer and hasn't done much,' he added, hopeful for a stronger showing from England's batters.

Clueless, liability: Prasidh Krishna slammed after horrendous Edgbaston spell

Indian cricket team fans were left fuming at Prasidh Krishna and slammed the Indian pacer for his forgettable spell during on Day 3 of the ongoing Edgbaston Test on Friday, July 4. Prasidh once again went with an economy of more than six after his horrible outing in the first Test. The pacer's tactic of using the short ball hasn't worked out during the series and it continued on Friday as he was leaking runs. advertisementPrasidh conceded 220 runs in 35 overs and finished with an economy rate of 6.2 during the first Test and came under a lot of criticism for his poor control of the ball and giving away far too many freebies for the England batters. The pacer, before the second Test, said that it was his responsibility to get better. "I had a few conversations with a few of them about this game. I definitely would want to bring that [economy] down to whatever best I can do, and yeah, I think I'm learning as well, I can't say anything, it's up to me, it's my responsibility to get better, and that's what I'm trying, that's what I'm working on, and I just want to make sure I put in the right kind of work and come back here and put up better numbers," said Prasidh. ENG vs IND 2nd Test Day 3 UpdatesHowever, that improvement wasn't on display during the Day 3 of the Edgbaston Test. As of now, Prasidh has bowled eight overs and conceded 61 runs at an economy rate over seven and not taking a single wicket. In one of his overs, Jamie Smith cashed in and blasted him for 23 runs, which included four boundaries and a six as the pacer kept banging it short. This allowed England to gain momentum after losing Joe Root and Ben Stokes early. The fans didn't spare Prasidh on social media, with some calling him a liability and saying he was clueless. Some wondered how he was able to make it to the Test cricket level with such poor tactics. You can see some of the reactions below:Fans slam Prasidh Krishna - EndsTune InMust Watch

Gill appeared to be in pain. He showed his head to Rishabh Pant and then signalled for the physio. The physio rushed out to assess him, provided some treatment, and thankfully, Gill looked better and resumed fielding shortly after. WATCH: Earlier in the match, Gill had been full of emotion after receiving a heartfelt message from his parents following his career-best 269. India vs England 2nd Test: Shubman Gill's 269, Ravindra Jadeja's class light up Edgbaston His monumental knock not only broke Kohli's record of 254* for the highest score by an Indian Test captain, but also surpassed Sachin Tendulkar's 241* as the highest by an Indian batter in a Test outside Asia. After the day's play, the BCCI shared a video in which Gill was seen listening to voice messages from his parents. The emotional moment clearly meant a lot to him. 'Means a lot coming from him,' Gill said. 'Growing up, I played all of my cricket for my dad. It was because of him I started playing cricket. He and my best friend, whom I practised with, are the only two people I care about and listen to when it comes to cricket. But he also said I missed my triple century.' Gill's knock helped India post a mammoth 587 — their highest Test total in England in 18 years.
