BTS Star Jin's New Album Brings Him To New Career Highs Everywhere

Forbes2 days ago

In the span of just six months, Jin has made up for lost time and delivered not one, but two solo projects. The BTS singer was the last member of the group to put out collections on his own, but he's quickly adding to his own catalog, including with his latest short offering. The South Korean musician's new EP Echo lands on a trio of Billboard rankings in America this week, and it sets new career highs for the singer across the board.
Perhaps most excitingly, Echo opens at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. The title arrives behind only Morgan Wallen's massive I'm the Problem – which scores the largest debut of 2025 – and the seemingly-unstoppable SOS by SZA.
Echo launches with 43,000 equivalent units shifted, according to Luminate. That figure is enough to beat the No. 4 peak of Happy, which dropped in late 2024 and served as Jin's first solo release and initial top 10 showing under his own name on the Billboard 200.
Echo also brings Jin to a new career high point on the Top Album Sales chart. The BTS star's latest effort misses out on the throne by just one spot, but nothing was going to beat I'm the Problem by Wallen this time around.
Echo kicks off its run on the all-style sales list with 34,500 pure purchases. That's about 100,000 fewer than I'm the Problem, but still a healthy opening figure. Happy only climbed to No. 3 when it was brand new and selling at its best.
Jin also earns his first No. 1 on the World Albums chart. Echo starts in that lofty position, bringing the South Korean superstar to the summit for the first time and beating Happy, which also reached the top three, but which was never able to lead the ranking.

The superstar and Tate McRae debut their collaboration "What I Want" in first place, and the country superstar sends dozens of tracks from his latest album, I'm the Problem, to the tally. As a deluge of cuts from I'm the Problem reach the Hot 100, Wallen adds significantly to his career total of placements, passing an important milestone and tying with two of the most successful musicians of the past several decades. All 29 new appearances on the Hot 100 are taken from I'm the Problem. As those two dozen-plus tracks arrive, the singer-songwriter increases his career total to 105 placements on the roster, according to Billboard. With exactly 105 Hot 100 wins to his credit, Wallen is now tied with Justin Bieber and Jay-Z, who have also accrued just as many. Both of those artists had quite the head start and spent well over a decade accruing smashes before Wallen's career really took off. Neither has been particularly focused on music lately, so their sums haven't increased significantly in recent years. Thanks to I'm the Problem, Wallen has now snagged four No. 1 hits. Two of them — "Love Somebody" and the brand new "What I Want" with McRae — opened in first place. He also reached the summit with his solo hit "Last Night" taken from his previous album One Thing at a Time, and "I Had Some Help," his collaboration with Post Malone. In total, Wallen has landed 17 top 10 smashes, including nine from his latest full-length. The record for the most Hot 100 hits is still owned by Drake, and it may always be. He is up to 358 placements on the tally, nearly 100 more than the runner-up, Taylor Swift, who claims 264. Also included in this exclusive club, which now features 21 artists, are names like Future, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, The Weeknd, and Eminem.

Highlights From World's First Humanoid Robot Kickboxing Tournament

China recently hosted a kickboxing tournament for humanoid robots and we've compiled all the highlights in one place. Six Unitree G1 humanoid robots and the humans operating them fought for the top spot in what was billed as "the world's first combat competition exclusively featuring humanoid robots." Each "fighter" was a Unitree G1 EDU model, the most advanced robot in Unitree's G1 lineup, armed with special combat training including straight punches, hooks, kicks, and knees. Unitree G1 robots slug it out for the top spot. Unitree Robotics These robots can be controlled by voice command, motion-sensing or remote control. Unitree says each control method has its pros and cons. Remote controls are being used to control the robots in this competition because they have lower latency than voice commands and are easier to learn. I got behind the controls of Unitree's G1 robot at CES and the company's Go2 Pro robot at CNET HQ. I found the remote controls very intuitive and similar in feel to the video game controllers I grew up with. "AI Strategist" in black fought "Power Core Guardian" in green for the top prize. Unitree Robotics After four matches of punishing robot-on-robot carnage, including at least one spectacular knockout, the robot in black, nicknamed "AI Strategist," took home the top prize. Check out the video in this article to see all the gnarliest highlights.
