Commanders WR Deebo Samuel picks his number and you can buy his jersey now

The Commanders will have a different player wearing No. 1 for the 2025 season.
Noah Igbinoghene, a cornerback who came to Washington for the 2024 season to rejoin head coach Dan Quinn and defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr, wore No. 1 last season. Igbinoghene had been with Quinn and Whitt in Dallas for a single season (2023) and signed as free agent to play in the Commanders secondary last season, and chose to wear jersey No. 1 after wide receiver Jahan Dotson was traded.
Interestingly, Igbinoghene is returning for the 2025 season, having again signed to play with the Commanders. Consequently, he has apparently agreed not to wear No. 1 next season.
Deebo Samuel was traded by the 49ers to the Commanders for a fifth-round draft choice. Samuel wore No. 1 in his final season (2024) with the 49ers after wearing No. 19 during the 2019 through 2023 seasons in San Francisco. Samuel actually wore No. 1 in college, playing for the South Carolina Gamecocks. Samuel was drafted in the second round of the 2019 NFL draft at 36th overall.

In an interesting apparent coincidence, Igbinoghene and Samuel wore No. 19 before choosing to switch to No. 1. Igbinoghene with Dallas wore No. 19, and Samuel with the 49ers.
There is not much history of a successful Washington player wearing No. 1. Here are the most notable Washington players who wore No. 1.
Matt Turk (1995-99) Punter: achieved the most success wearing No. 1
Jahan Dotson (2022-23) Receiver
Reggie Roby (1993-94) Punter
DeAndre Carter (2021) Receiver
Noah Igbinoghene (2024) Cornerback

(AP Photo/Jed Jacobsohn, File) LOS ANGELES (AP) — San Francisco 49ers player Deommodore Lenoir was arrested in Los Angeles on a charge of obstructing law enforcement and later released Friday, police said. Los Angeles police said they saw multiple double-parked cars blocking traffic at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday. They said a suspect 'appearing to conceal contraband' threw the keys to one of the cars to Lenoir, who refused to give them to officers. Advertisement Officers eventually recovered a gun and narcotics in one of the cars. Lenoir, 25, was arrested and booked on a charge of delaying and resisting a peace officer. According to the county jail inmate information center, Lenoir was released around 1 a.m. Friday and is due to appear in court July 25. A spokesperson for the San Francisco 49ers did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment. Lenoir attended Los Angeles Salesian High School and played for the Oregon Ducks before being drafted by the 49ers in 2021. The cornerback signed a five-year, $92 million extension with the 49ers in November.

Jayden Daniels Aims Comical Remark at Commanders New Addition

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. During the 2024 season, the Washington Commanders saw the franchise's trajectory change in the blink of an eye. Now on a new course towards contention, the front office wasted little time making win-now moves in the offseason. Washington's offense went through a big change last season as former No. 2 pick Jayden Daniels took the reins at quarterback. He quickly took the league by storm, drastically improving the Commanders' play on the side of the ball with his combination of speed and throwing ability. Daniels' presence resulted in Washington winning double-digit games and punching their ticket to the postseason. The Commanders' run didn't end there, as Daniels was able to carry his positive momentum into the postseason. He helped Washington get within arm's reach of a Super Bowl appearance before getting eliminated at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles. Their biggest swing in the offseason was trading for wide receiver Deebo Samuel. Paired with Terry McLaurin (whenever his holdout comes to an end), he will provide Daniels with a pair of wideouts capable of ripping off a big play at any moment. Still in the early stages of their time together, Daniels seems to approve of the Commanders' latest offensive addition. While at "Fanatic Fest" last week, the rising star gave his thoughts on Samuel entering the fold. Daniels jokingly said he can't wait for veteran WR to inflate his passing numbers with his dynamic skill set. "I'm excited to throw him a little screen and hopefully on the stat sheet it says a touchdown for 80 yards and I didn't have to do any of the work," Daniels said with a grin. Across 15 appearances, he racked totaled 670 yards and three touchdowns. Both are the third-lowest marks for any given season in his career. Now with a chance of scenery, Samuel has a chance to get back in the conversation with the league's best wideouts. He is flanked by a young QB who is looking to make a name for himself and isn't scared to let the ball fly. Also, with McLaurin drawing attention from opposing secondary, lanes should open up for Samuel to impact games on a weekly basis. After being part of a handful of deep runs in San Francisco, Samuel will now attempt to help his new team rise to contender status in the NFC. Ex-Salesian standout Deommodore Lenoir, now with 49ers, arrested for resisting peace officer

San Francisco 49ers defensive back Deommodore Lenoir was arrested Thursday afternoon in South Los Angeles. He was charged with delaying and resisting a peace officer, a misdemeanor. Another man, apparently a companion of Lenoir's, was arrested for possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle, which is a felony. Advertisement According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on the 4500 block of South Wilton Place. Officers spotted 25-year-old Marcus Cunningham "frantically reaching" into a gray Cadillac Escalade. He then "locked the vehicle and walked away, appearing to conceal contraband." After additional officers located the keys on a nearby porch, the police opened the car and found "a loaded semi-automatic firearm in the center compartment, a loaded Glock in an open compartment and narcotics," the LAPD said. Advertisement According to the L.A. County Sheriff Department's inmate information center, Lenoir was released on his own recognizance at 1:18 a.m. Friday and is due to appear in L.A. Superior Court on July 25. No release or court information was available for Cunningham. The 49ers released a statement Friday saying that they're aware of the matter and "are in the process of gathering further information." Lenoir, a former standout at Los Angeles Salesian High who played four seasons at Oregon, was selected by the 49ers in the fifth round of the 2021 draft. He signed a five-year, $88-million contract extension before the 2024 season.
