Parents of Sanford toddler nearly killed in hit-and-run ask for community help to solve the case
3-year-old Harmonie Rose Bryant has been fighting for her life at Arnold Palmer hospital, since she was hit on Persimmon Avenue in the Goldsboro neighborhood on Thursday.
According to her family, the toddler is in stable condition, but she had brain bleeding and multiple fractures to her skull and pelvis.
The family spoke exclusively with Channel 9 and said Harmonie will likely have a long road to recovery. According to the family, the 3-year-old is awake but unable to communicate and could have lasting issues from the crash.
Her parents told Channel 9 they were watching their daughter play 'Red Light, Green Light' with her older brother just feet away from their Sanford home, as a driver jumped the curve and slammed into their daughter.
'We were sitting right there on the porch when it happened. And that car came flying around the corner,' said Harmonie's father Melvin Bryant.
'She went flying in the air. I jumped off the porch, almost fell down the steps,' added Harmonie's mother Lakisha Debose, as she recalled the horrifying moment.
Harmonie's parents said they have been by their daughter's hospital bedside 24/7 since the crash and are asking for continued prayers for her recovery.
The family and several neighbors told Channel 9 speeding is a problem along Persimmon Avenue where the crash happened.
They believe the city needs to take some speed calming measures on the road.
Meanwhile, Harmonie's parents said they are frustrated the person responsible for the hit and run is still at large.
They are begging the community to provide information to police that could help close the case.
'I want justice,' said Bryant, 'I'm asking for anybody to step forward.'
Sanford Police said they do have persons of interest but have not made any arrests yet.
The department said anyone with information about the hit-and-run could contact Sanford Police directly or make an anonymous report via Crimeline.

Seminole High Student arrested after security guard says she was attacked; mother disputes claim
A Seminole High School security guard says she was attacked by a student during a large fight on campus this week. That student, 18-year-old Tyshawn Ellison, was arrested and charged with battery. Channel 9 obtained multiple videos showing Tuesday's fight, where several students were seen punching each other. Ellison, wearing a white shirt and light jeans in the footage, can be seen running toward another teen during the brawl. 'He fought. I understand that. He was on school campus, so he broke a rule,' said Darlene Ellison, Tyshawn's mother, who spoke exclusively with Channel 9. 'But did your son batter this woman?' Channel 9's Geovany Dias asked. 'No. No, he did not,' she added. The security guard, identified as Ms. Cypress, told police in a sworn statement that Ellison pushed her and began a physical altercation. That statement led to his arrest. Ellison's mother says, however, the videos, recorded by students at the scene, show a different story. 'So, they say my son got into an altercation with another boy, and his friends got in an altercation with some other boys — all at one time,' she explained. 'It was a whole bunch of kids fighting.' Ms. Ellison said she has already handed those videos over to Sanford police. One slowed-down version of clip obtained shows Ellison pointing in the distance as the guard extends her arm toward him. It's unclear what happened before or after that moment. The mother said that's why she believes the accusations don't add up. 'I don't want no felony on my son's record for something that he did not do,' Ms. Ellison said. 'I want them to get that security guard off that campus.' Sanford Police said they established probable cause for Ellison's arrest based on sworn statements. Seminole County Public Schools said the case is now being handled by police. Regina Hill's trial date could be set Wednesday, with election implications looming
A hearing on Wednesday morning could set the time for the trial of suspended Orlando City Commissioner Regina Hill. Hill's case will be heard by a judge at 9 a.m. to determine whether her trial will occur before or after the November election. Hill is accused of misappropriating $100,000 from an elderly woman, allegedly spending the money on personal expenses such as a facelift, hotels, and IV treatments. She has denied the charges, claiming they are part of a political conspiracy against her. Hill is currently running for re-election against her successor, Shan Rose. Driver who ran red lights in chase told police: 'Can't prove jack s*** mate'
A driver who ran red lights in a dangerous police pursuit told an arresting officer: "Can't prove jack s*** mate." Philip Beaulieu, 39, was driving a Ford C-Max on Wavertree Avenue in Widnes when he accelerated away from a police car. The incident, which happened at around 2.25pm on July 31, saw Beaulieu travelling far in excess of the speed limit. He also failed to give way at junctions, ran red traffic lights and went onto the opposite side of the road. Police stopped the pursuit due to the dangers of the chase. Checks revealed Beaulieu had an expired provisional driving licence and was not named on the insurance of the vehicle he was seen driving. Officers attended the registered keeper's address and located Beaulieu. READ MORE: Mum given 'chance after chance' to prove herself but her luck ran out READ MORE: Man picked up baby seagull and bludgeoned it against bin The registered keeper of the car was out of the country however after being spoken to over the phone by officers, they confirmed Beaulieu had not been given permission to drive the vehicle. Footage released by Cheshire Constabulary showed the moment Beaulieu was arrested by police officers. After being cautioned, he was asked by an officer if he understood what was happening and he initially said no. But more footage taken from inside the police vehicle as he was taken to a police station showed Beaulieu turn aggressive. He told the officer: "Can't prove jack. Can't prove jack s*** mate." He then added: "Your house is getting burned every f***ing day lad." The officer then further arrested Beaulieu on suspicion of threats to cause damage. Beaulieu responded: "Just because you couldn't catch the f***ing car. That's your problem." The officer can be heard to reply: "You didn't get away from me lad." The driver was subsequently charged with both the driving offences and the threats to damage/destroy property. Beaulieu, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, driving with no insurance, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and threats to damage/destroy property. Appearing at Warrington Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, August 6, he was sentenced to 12 months in prison. On top of his custodial sentence, Beaulieu was banned from driving for 36 months and is required to pass an extended test before he can get a licence again. Speaking after the sentencing, Cheshire Constabulary PC Holland said: "Beaulieu knew he was in the wrong by driving a vehicle he'd taken without the owner's consent, and without a valid licence or insurance. He chose to put other road users in danger by fleeing from police with no regard for the safety of other members of the public. "But it was to no avail, and he was arrested soon afterwards. Despite Beaulieu denying all responsibility in interview, he changed his plea to guilty when faced with the overwhelming evidence at court; no doubt helped by some thinking time after a long weekend on remand. "Let this be a reminder – if you commit crime on Cheshire's roads, there is nowhere you can hide."
