The world No19 was upset with his assignment, with all other courts beginning play at 12:30pm.
Davidovich Fokina subsequently posted an open letter to the ATP via his Instagram story.
He revealed his "disappointment and frustration" at having to wake up "extremely early" for his match - pointing to the fact that he is staying a one hour drive from the tournament venue.
Man of the people Evans, however, was having none of Davidovich Fokina's complaints.

Davidovich Fokina's complaint in full
Good afternoon,
Today I want to share my disappointment and frustration with the ATP. Tomorrow, every match starts at 12:30 except ours, which has been scheduled at 11am. We're staying one hour from the club, which means we have to wake up extremely early to arrive in good condition.
We've asked for a change, but the answer was that everything has already been sold, tickets, TV rights, etc. Once again, it's clear that players are not taken into consideration.
Today it happened to others, tomorrow it's me, and from the day after, all matches return to 12:30. There are plenty of available courts, yet we're the only ones playing at 11:00.
The ATP always promises they'll fix things, but nothing ever changes. This isn't the first time it happens, and when you're inside, you realise it's not as great as it looks from the outside.
All the best,
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina
A third reasoned: "Evans is right. Sometimes, being flexible doesn't hurt."
And another added: "He's getting paid literally tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars to show up at 11am and play a tennis match."
Eugenie Bouchard breaks down in tears as former Wimbledon runner-up officially retires
Davidovich Fokina reached the final in Washington last week.
During his run he defeated Wimbledon semi-finalist Taylor Fritz in a match that did not finish until 1am.
The charismatic star held several match points in the final but went on to lose a heartbreaker to Alex de Minaur, leaving him still without a tour-level title.
Evans, meanwhile, is looking to rebuild his ranking aged 35 having fallen out of the world's top 200 earlier this year.
The Brummie star is back up to No129, having reached the third round in Washington last week.
Ahead of Wimbledon, Evans wiped away tears as he recounted his struggles this year.
He said: "It's not the matches. It's when you feel like you've let people down, that's the tougher thing about it.
'You're not used to losing, that's probably more of the thing. I don't worry about retirement but it's just different isn't it?
"To start losing, it's scary at the end of the day, to know sometimes you're not good enough.
'It's not an easy thing in sport to not be good enough. I don't know why I'm so emotional about it."

Lauren Bell says India contests stand England in good stead for World Cup
Under new head coach Charlotte Edwards, England completed a clean sweep against the West Indies before falling to defeat against India. England were beaten 3-2 in the T20 series and 2-1 in the ODIs, but with the World Cup fast approaching, Bell insisted there is plenty to learn from this summer. She told the PA news agency: 'We've obviously had two fairly different series this summer. We had the West Indies that everyone performed really well and India challenged us a little bit more. England Women's Summer 2025 ✅ Not the ending we wanted but some amazing moments throughout and we appreciate all the support 🩷 World Cup 🔜🔜🔜 — England Cricket (@englandcricket) July 22, 2025 'It's exciting seeing that we're going to come up against some of the best teams and I think situations like the India series we just had is great preparation really. You learn so much more when you play against top teams. 'It's really exciting where we're at as a team, where we're going and obviously we're working super hard. We've got a few things that everyone, I guess, is going to work on moving forwards to that World Cup. 'It's an exciting time to be part of this team.' This year's World Cup takes place in India and Sri Lanka and England open their campaign on October 3 with a clash against South Africa in Bengaluru. The tournament is England's first under Edwards, who has just completed her first summer in charge and Bell has enjoyed working with a familiar face. 'It's been great, I've worked with Lot for a number of years because she was down at Hampshire and the Southern Brave,' Bell added. 'She's been great, she's got this ethos of winning and performance-based selection, which obviously takes a bit of getting used to with a new coach and the way she goes about things. 'She's obviously got a vast amount of experience and a really successful start to her coaching. 'It's been great, the way she manages everyone and speaks to us is really exciting. It's really cool to be a part of what she's hopefully pushing this team to do and to succeed.' England face a busy 12 month period with the 50-over World Cup and home games over the summer before the T20 World Cup starts next. Next year's tournament follows the 2022 European Championship and the upcoming Women's Rugby World Cup as another major women's sporting event being held on British soil. Looking ahead to the T20 World Cup, Bell said: 'Super excited, I think any player wants to play at a home World Cup. I think it's so cool with family and friends around and hopefully (can) put women's cricket on a platform at home. 'It's so important bringing it to the home venues and getting them hopefully sold out and people being able to see the sport. 'The more we can get it accessible to people to watch, the more they'll be like 'this is pretty cool, I want to get involved' and start playing. It's such a massive opportunity for cricket in England.'

Love Island fans convinced show couple have secretly SPLIT after spotting tell-tale sign
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) LOVE Island fans have been left convinced that one show couple have already split as the show comes to an end. Eagle-eyed viewers think it is all over for one recently rekindled pair who were dumped from the ITV2 show just days before the final. Sign up for the Entertainment newsletter Sign up 4 Love Island fans think Conor and Megan have already split Credit: Shutterstock Editorial 4 Conor failed to acknowledge Megan in his thank you post after the villa Credit: Instagram Megan and Conor managed to rekindle their connection after the Irish stunner re-entered the villa for a second time this series. In a telling move, Conor failed to acknowledge or thank his villa partner Megan in his post-villa social media message. Taking to Instagram after being booted and just moments before the final, Conor wrote: "The craziest 8 weeks of my life. Thank you so much for all the support. "Hope I did all you guys proud, especially my Irish people." Conor went on to share a series of snaps with his fellow axed Islanders but failed to post a photo with Megan. He further congratulated winners Toni and Cach in another social media snub to Megan. Viewers watching along at home were also left trying to spot them together in the audience with many claiming they could not be seen - fuelling further speculation that the pair could have secretly split over the weekend. One fan wrote online: "I havent seen Conor and Megan together all night!!" As another added: "Anyone spotted that Conor and Megan were sat apart?!" Elsewhere, when Megan was brought up to the sofa to be interviewed by Maya, she was not joined by Conor. Love Island champs Toni and Cach reveal how they'll spend £50k winnings as they beat Shakira and Harry Fellow couples Tommy and Lucy and Ben and Andrada were featured together in the segment. Megan and Conor were dumped from the villa just days before the final after failing to be voted as one of the most compatible couples in the villa. Following their show axe, fans noticed how Megan and Conor did also tellingly not return for the show's final vote - which resulted in the axe of Dejon and Meg. On Sunday night, 18 former Islanders returned to the villa to vote out one couple from the new bottom two, which comprised of Angel & Ty and Meg & Dejon. Fans quickly noticed the couple's absence and questioned why they did not take part despite still being in Spain and appearing on After Sun. The Sun can now reveal the real reason why Megan and Conor were absent from casting a vote with the other Islanders. "They were dumped as part of the public vote that also decided who was in the bottom two couples - so it wouldn't have been fair to let them vote," a source told the The Sun. "The vote was only for people who had been axed in previous dumpings, not the current one." 4 Megan was not joined by Conor in her first screen interview Credit: Shutterstock Editorial

The One Show presenter Alex Jones has been on the BBC programme for 15 years after making her debut back in 2010. Back in 2010, Alex Jones stepped into the presenter's chair on The One Show, taking over from Christine Bleakley. Ever since, BBC audiences have watched her chat with an array of famous faces, from Helen George and Don Warrington to Matt Damon and Catherine Zeta Jones, who recently left viewers utterly stunned. This month signals Alex's 15th anniversary at the helm of the programme, something she acknowledged during Monday's opening, reports Wales Online. As the show began, the 48-year-old warmly welcomed back co-host Ronan Keating following his extended absence. She declared: "Look who is back for one night only, it's lovely Ronan." He responded: "Alex, thank you, it's good to be back. Especially, as this month marks 15 years of you on this show." Alex exclaimed: "Stop! Stop, I can't believe it, they're going to send me back any minute." The Boyzone singer remained tight-lipped as he informed BBC watchers his mouth was zipped, though hinted more details about the anniversary would emerge on Friday's episode. It appears a special celebration is being planned as the programme's official Instagram account honoured Alex, suggesting bigger things are coming. The footage featured a collection of the host's moments through the years, spanning from her 2010 debut right up to recent times. The post read: "15 fabulous years of smiles, stories, and sparkle!
