Time of India4 days ago
Pune: PMRDA commissioner Yogesh Mhase on Thursday assured farmers in Hinjewadi and Maan that no land would be forcefully acquired for upcoming road-widening projects.
During an interaction with farmers at the Aundh office, he said Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) will adopt a consent-based approach for land acquisition.
"If farmers agree, they will receive 25% higher compensation than usual," Mhase said, adding that road designs will help ease traffic congestion in Hinjewadi and surrounding areas. He explained various options available to landowners, including direct purchase, TDR (transfer of development rights), consent-based acquisition, and incentive floor space index (FSI).

To keep ticket costs within reach on flights between Mumbai and Solapur, Maharashtra govt to make available Rs 3,240 per seat

Mumbai: The state cabinet on Tuesday approved the provision of viability gap funding (VGF) per seat for a year on the lines of the UDAN scheme for the Solapur-Pune-Mumbai air route. The Centre launched the UDAN (Regional Connectivity Scheme) to make air travel affordable for common people. This scheme will also be implemented for Solapur airport. Until the implementation of this scheme, funds will be made available as viability gap at the rate of Rs 3,240 per seat (100% VGF) for a year. This will help reduce the cost of air travel on the Solapur-Pune-Mumbai route, said officials. A provision of Rs 17.97 crore will be made for this. After the implementation of the UDAN scheme for this airport, this fund provided by the govt will be discontinued, and 20% VGF will be provided as per the central govt's UDAN scheme. In areas that previously had few or no flights for connectivity, the govt is attempting to increase regional air travel, enhance connectivity, and foster economic growth with this strategy. The scheme contributed significantly to the growth of regional airlines. Not only this, but this initiative also gave a boost to job creation and tourism. Since its launch on Oct 21, 2016, UDAN effectively ran flights on about 601 itineraries and 71 airports, increasing the affordability and accessibility of air travel for the typical Indian tourist. Connecting smaller towns and cities with larger hubs is the main objective of this plan, which also aims to make air travel more accessible to people living in remote places. Maharashtra state transport earns record revenue of Rs 137cr during Rakshabandhan festival

Mumbai: This year, due to Raksha Bandhan and the connected holidays, the state bus corporation earned Rs 137.37 crore from ST buses packed with passengers during the four days from August 8 to 11. Notably, on August 11 alone, the corporation earned Rs 39 crore from passenger transport in a single day. This is record revenue for the current financial year, an official said. Every year, MSRTC receives record revenue on two days - Raksha Bandhan and Bhau Beej (Diwali).
