Expose TDP's betrayals to public, Botcha tells cadre

Hans India14-07-2025
Vizianagaram: Botcha Satyanarayana, Opposition leader in Legislative Council, launched a strong attack on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and the coalition government, branding them as 'masters of deception', who failed to fulfill electoral promises.
Speaking at the constituency-level meeting held here on Sunday, Botcha blamed that Chandrababu Naidu has repeatedly deceived public by not implementing even a single promise from the party's election manifesto.
'As the main opposition, it is now our responsibility to go to the people and fight to ensure that those promises are fulfilled,' he added. He questioned the government for not implementing 'Super Six' welfare programmes, asking, 'Isn't it cheating the public?' He demanded clarity on the status of promises like free bus travel for women, Rs 15,000 assistance to women, and ₹3,000 unemployment dole.
He further criticised both Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan for issuing sworn affidavits during the elections, only to betray the trust of the public. 'That is why we must take this campaign to the people under the slogan 'Babu Surety – Betrayal Guarantee,'' he said.
Botcha urged YSRCP cadre to organise awareness meetings in every village and ward to expose the failures of the coalition government.
District YSRCP president Majji Srinivasa Rao said that YSRCP cadre should put untired efforts to fight with TDP and work for the public. He advised them to don't scare of false cases imposing by the TDP leaders.

PK speech: AP HC registry to number revision plea

VIJAYAWADA: The High Court has directed its registry to assign a number to a criminal revision petition challenging the Guntur court's decision to withdraw prosecution against Jana Sena chief and Deputy CM K Pawan Kalyan. The case stems from comments made by Pawan during his Vaarahi Yatra, alleging misuse of data collected by village volunteers and the abduction of women. Though five volunteers initially supported the complaint filed under IPC Sections 499 and 500, they later testified their reputations weren't harmed and claimed their names were used by YSRCP leaders without consent. Later, the Guntur court permitted the public prosecutor to withdraw the case. However, Petitioner Sarala and three others contested this, but the revision petition faced administrative hurdles. Justice Y Lakshmana Rao has now ordered the registry to number the petition, enabling its progression. Public prosecutors K Radhakrishna Raju and D Srivani Bhai led the earlier case, with support from Advocate Muppalla Subbarao.

MIS for mangoes too late: YSRCP

VIJAYAWADA: YSRCP Farmers' Wing president MVS Nagi Reddy on Tuesday accused the coalition government of failing mango farmers, slamming Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, and State Agriculture Minister K Atchannaidu for misleading claims of support. He highlighted that since May 10, mango farmers had faced price slump without the State intervention, while neighbouring Karnataka secured a Central deal on June 21 to procure mangoes at Rs 16 per kg. In contrast, the Andhra Pradesh's government acted only on July 21, post-season, offering a mere Rs 14.9 per kg against last year's Rs 25-29 per kg, with a meagre Rs 1.84 per kg subsidy. He questioned the Market Intervention Scheme relevance now as most of the crop was already sold, accusing the TDP-led NDA government of political posturing. He mentioned that only 1.62 lakh tonnes of the State's 6.5 lakh tonnes of mango produce was targeted for procurement, too late to benefit farmers. Juice factories, closed until June 10, ignored the announced Rs 12 per kg price, and the promised Rs 4 per kg subsidy remains unpaid. Nagi Reddy termed the NDA government's actions deplorable, accusing it of distorting facts for propaganda, and betraying farmers.

Sour mangoes: AP farmers struggle as prices crash, despite govt intervention to ease market crisis

AMARAVATI: Mango farmers in Andhra Pradesh are reeling under severe financial distress due to crashing prices linked to variety of reasons and limited procurement of the Totapuri variety, a prominent cash crop in Rayalaseema district. They now suggest the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the custodian of the Lord Venkateswara Temple, could come to their rescue by procuring the fruits. Despite a bumper crop in financial year 2024-25, farmers in Chittoor, Tirupati, and Annamayya districts are struggling as pulp industries allegedly refuse to buy sufficient quantities, citing reduced market demand and export challenges. "Farmers don't want political entanglements, but genuine solutions to protect livelihoods and ensure fair prices," said M Bhanu Prakash, a mango farmer from Tirupati. He noted that the promised Rs 4 per kg support price from the TDP-led government has been delayed, worsening hardships with rising transportation and labour costs. "This year's production reached nearly 1.5 lakh tonne, compared to last year's 90,000 tonne, leading to oversupply problems and reduced market demand," Prakash told PTI. Prakash demanded a Mango Board, questioning why no organised structure supports mango farmers despite the scale and significance of production in Andhra Pradesh. Minister of State for Rural Development, Chandra Shekhar Pemmasani said that the Centre reimbursed Rs 130 crore under the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) recognising Andhra Pradesh's proactive efforts to protect mango farmers during the severe market crisis. "A total of Rs 260 crore was released at the rate of Rs 4 per kg by the state government and Rs 130 crore has been reimbursed from the Centre under the MIS," said Pemmasani in a post on X on Tuesday.
