Here are the Netflix top 10 movies I think are worth adding to your watchlist
Another weekend is here, which means there's plenty of great new movies to watch across the best streaming services. But with so much on offer, narrowing down which ones are actually worth your precious streaming time can quickly become a headache.
Netflix's list of the top 10 most-watched movies is a great place to start, but how do you determine which ones are actually worth the hype? That's why we regularly peruse the Netflix top 10 list to highlight the best of the bunch.
This week, that includes a high-octane action thriller starring Gerard Butler, a time-traveling romcom that's quickly become Netflix's latest sleeper hit, and a thought-provoking documentary about the human toll of unchecked ambition.
Not in the mood for any of these? For even more streaming recommendations, be sure to check out our guide to everything new on Netflix this month. So, without further ado, let's dive into the three must-watch movies in Netflix's top 10.
This article is based on Netflix's top 10 movies list in the U.S. as of 11:30 a.m. ET on Sunday, June 15.
With so many plane crashes making headlines this year, people are understandably jittery about flying. But that's not stopping Netflix subscribers, whether out of morbid curiosity or simply seeking thrills, from jettisoning "Plane" to the #1 spot on the streamer's top 10 list shortly after arrival. It's even managed to unseat Tyler Perry's "Straw" from the top spot.
One of my favorite Gerard Butler films, this adrenaline-fueled action thriller stars Butler as Brodie Torrance, a commercial airline pilot hoping to complete one final flight before reuniting with his daughter.
But when a violent storm hits midair and a lightning strike disables the aircraft's systems, Torrance is forced to make a daring emergency landing. He manages to get the plane down safely, only to discover they've landed on the dangerous, pirate-run Jolo Islands. Stranded in hostile territory, Torrance reluctantly joins forces with a fugitive passenger (Mike Colter) to evade local warlords and protect the survivors until rescue arrives.

If you're in the mood for a gripping documentary, Netflix's latest one, "Titan: The OceanGate Disaster," takes a deep dive into the fatal implosion of the Titan submersible during its June 18, 2023, descent to the Titanic wreck site. All five people aboard were killed in the incident, including OceanGate CEO and pilot Stockton Rush.
Drawing on archival footage, whistleblower testimony, and internal audio recordings, the documentary investigates how Rush's unchecked ambition and startingly risky decisions contributed to the tragedy. It also casts a critical eye on the tech world's relentless drive for innovation, highlighting the risks of prioritizing progress over safety.
"Titan" offers a haunting exploration of ambition pushed to the brink as well as a cautionary tale about a visionary who believed in his creation so completely, he went down with it. Fair warning: It's a difficult watch, but an important one nonetheless.

If subtitles aren't a deal-breaker for you, Netflix's latest Spanish-language "Our Times" is a wacky time-traveling romcom that's quickly becoming the streamer's latest surprise hit. It follows a married physicist couple, Nora (Lucero) and Héctor (Benny Ibarra), with a homemade time machine that accidentally zaps them from 1966 to the present day,
Though they're stranded in a bold new era, both are still anchored by decades-old ways of thinking, which puts their relationship to the test.
While her brilliance was dismissed in the '60s because of her gender, in 2025, Nora's talents are finally recognized and celebrated. Meanwhile, Héctor wrestles with feelings of insecurity and a mindset stuck in the past, struggling to keep up with the changes around him. Their relationship becomes a fragile tug-of-war, with Nora leaning into her newfound independence, while Héctor clings to the comfort of what once was.

The cash-grab continues as Netflix announces its sixth price hike since its Aussie launch
Stop me if you've heard this one: Netflix is hiking its prices again in Australia. In what is starting to feel like an Aussie twist on "Money Heist", the streaming giant will be liberating us from even more of our cash from September 2025. Netflix subscribers received emails over the weekend outlining price changes, including a AU$2 increase for the Standard with ads tier, now priced at AU$9.99 p/m, another AU$2 hike for the Standard tier, bringing it to AU$20.99 p/m, and a AU$3 rise for the Premium tier, which now costs a hefty AU$28.99 p/m. For these keeping score at home, this marks the sixth time that Netflix has increased its prices since the service's Australian launch back in March 2015. Netflix introduced its first price increase across all tiers just two years after launching in Australia in June 2017. This was followed by hikes to the Premium tier in October 2019, the Basic and Standard tiers in September 2020, the Standard and Premium tiers in November 2021, and all three paid tiers in May 2024. During this period, Netflix also launched a paid Basic with ads tier, which was later replaced by a Standard with ads tier that included HD streaming. According to Netflix's email, the service has updated its prices "to bring you even more exciting, new entertainment," along with "fresh, can't-miss shows and movies every week (including 71 new releases next month)." Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like Australia's cost-of-living pressures will be easing any time soon, though at least we'll be able to keep ourselves entertained with multi-part seasons of shows like "Wednesday" and "Stranger Things" that will be dragged out over several pay cycles. In the meantime, you can keep on top of the service's cost fluctuations in our Netflix pricing in Australia guide, along with other local services like Disney Plus, Stan and Prime Video.

Battlefield 6's beta doesn't start for another 2 days, but fans clearly don't mind the wait as the FPS has already hit a peak of almost 10,000 concurrent players on Steam
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Battlefield 6's beta might not kick off for another couple of days, but that's not stopping thousands of fans from flooding to it early, wistfully staring at its menu with no actual way to play. For those who've earned early access to Battlefield 6's beta (by signing up before July 31 or watching partnered Twitch streamers during last week's multiplayer reveal), the fun kicks off on August 7 until August 8. For everyone else, there are two open beta weekends running between August 9-10, and August 14-17. Either way, it's still not time to dive in just yet, but try telling that to the 6,000 people sitting in its menu on Steam right now. Following Battlefield 6's beta pre-load going live on all platforms yesterday, the game has hit a peak of 9,463 concurrent "players" on Steam (players being a rather strong word, as it stands) according to SteamDB. That doesn't account for those on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, either. Prospective players can already tweak their settings to their liking before the beta actually becomes playable, so it's not that there's absolutely nothing to be doing right now. To maintain thousands of concurrent users so steadily for hours on end, though? There are definitely a lot of people simply hyping themselves up in the menu. All things considered, Battlefield 6 seems to be in a good position to bring in plenty of actual players when its beta actually goes live. DICE previously stated that it'll include "the most content we've ever dropped in an open beta in Battlefield history," so it should keep us busy. Battlefield 6 dev says the magic words: Bad Company 2 is a "huge inspiration" for the upcoming FPS, and my excitement for the beta is now at an all-time high.

Battlefield 6's beta has only been running for a day, but it's already suffering from a FPS curse with cheaters breaking out the wallhacks
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Shocking absolutely no one, Battlefield 6 already has players cheating during the beta period because FPS players may never know peace. We're in the first wave of Battlefield 6 beta times, and it's already the most popular Battlefield ever on Steam, so it's no wonder a former Blizzard boss thinks Battlefield 6 will "boot stomp" Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. However, being an FPS game comes with the usual quirks – namely, it's the genre that feels the most susceptible to cheaters. Most cheaters wait until the full game is out so they can take advantage, but the Battlefield 6 beta ones are already on top of it, as wallhacks have already emerged. As reported by Insider Gaming, cheaters have already bypassed EA's Javelin Anti-cheat system and are deploying wallhacks in the game. Various clips have surfaced of players running rampant with the clear visual of their enemies' whereabouts at all times, with one user using clips of it to throw shade at the Call of Duty account to try and convince them to avoid using Kernel-level anti-cheat. Of course, the real question is, why? Using cheats like this is pretty lame anyway, because why would you play a game to not actually play it, but to do it on a beta where there's no actual progression because it'll be wiped in a week's time... And by using these cheats on the beta, you just give Battlefield Studios a better chance of identifying and addressing them before the game comes, which I suppose could be somewhat of a win. You might want to turn off the Battlefield 6 crossplay for the time being if you're on console, though. Battlefield 6 multiplayer is faster than ever, and while I'm having fun being a speedy soldier, it's playing against the shooter's most iconic feature.
