Palestine Calls for Emergency Arab League Session to Address Israeli Aggression
The State of Palestine has formally requested an emergency session of the Arab League Council at the level of permanent representatives, scheduled for Tuesday, to discuss political, legal, and diplomatic measures in response to what it described as 'unprecedented and dangerous Israeli aggression' in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Palestine's Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, said Monday that the urgent request comes amid what he called catastrophic conditions in Gaza, including a deadly blockade and widespread starvation. Al-Aklouk accused Israel of systematically using hunger as a weapon of genocide, deliberately targeting starving civilians gathering at aid distribution points.
'Nearly 1,000 Palestinians have been killed while waiting for food for their children and families,' he said, describing the situation as a deliberate attempt to impose famine under the guise of humanitarian assistance. 'What is being offered in the name of relief is being weaponized against the Palestinian people under a false humanitarian cover.'
The session aims to coordinate a unified Arab stance and explore concrete steps to address the worsening humanitarian crisis and escalate efforts at the international level.

Two major Israeli rights groups conclude war on Gaza is 'genocide' - War on Gaza
Rights groups B'Tselem and Physicians for Human Rights Israel said on Monday that they had concluded the war in Gaza amounts to "genocide" against Palestinians, a first for Israeli NGOs. Both organisations are frequent critics of Israeli government policies, but the language in their reports issued on Monday was their most stark yet. "Nothing prepares you for the realisation that you are part of a society committing genocide. This is a deeply painful moment for us," B'Tselem executive director Yuli Novak told a news conference unveiling the two reports. "As Israelis and Palestinians who live here and witness the reality every day, we have a duty to speak the truth as clearly as possible," she said. "Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinians." Israel's war in Gaza for the past 21 months has left much of the Gaza Strip, home to more than two million Palestinians, in ruins, and has killed at least 59,821 civilians, most of them women and children. All Gazans have been driven from their homes at least once since the start of the war, and UN agencies warn that residents face a growing threat of famine and malnutrition. The International Court of Justice, in an interim ruling in early 2024 in a case lodged by South Africa, found it "plausible" that the Israeli offensive had violated the UN Genocide Convention. The reports from B'Tselem -- one of Israel's best-known rights groups -- and Physicians for Human Rights Israel argue that the war's objectives go further. B'Tselem's report cites statements from senior politicians to illustrate that Israel "is taking coordinated action to intentionally destroy Palestinian society in the Gaza Strip". Physicians for Human Rights Israel's report documents what the group says is "the deliberate and systematic destruction of Gaza's healthcare system". Palestinian President Appreciates President Sisi's Call to Trump to Stop Gaza War
Amir Haggag Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) praised the special appeal made by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to US President Donald Trump to stop the war in the Gaza Strip and allow aid into the territory. Abu Mazen said, as reported by Cairo News Channel, "Palestine appreciates the pioneering position played by Egypt in establishing the foundations of security and peace in our region and the world." Earlier on Monday, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi made an urgent appeal to the United States, the European Union, and our Arab brothers to exert maximum efforts to stop the war on Gaza, allow aid into the country, and end the suffering of the Palestinians. He also made a personal appeal to US President Donald Trump, saying, "I personally appreciate President Trump, who is capable of stopping the war and allowing aid into the country. Israel derailing two-state solution, world must act before it's too late: UN chief - War on Gaza
The United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres warned Monday that Israel's ongoing occupation and destruction of Gaza have pushed the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to a historic breaking point, cautioning that the window for a two-state solution is rapidly closing — and may never reopen without urgent international action. Speaking at the High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine in New York, co-organized by France and Saudi Arabia, Guterres said: 'The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has endured for generations, defying hopes, diplomacy, countless resolutions, and international law. But its persistence is not inevitable. It can be resolved.' However, he added, 'We are at a breaking point. The two-state solution is farther than ever before.' Guterres levelled his sharpest criticism at Israel, accusing it of inflicting collective punishment on Palestinians in Gaza and undermining the viability of a future Palestinian state through its actions in the occupied West Bank — including settlement expansion, settler violence, and open declarations of annexation. 'Nothing justifies the obliteration of Gaza that has unfolded before the eyes of the world,' he said. 'Nothing justifies the starvation of Gaza's population, the killing of tens of thousands of civilians, the fragmentation of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, the expansion of Israeli settlements, the rising settler violence, the demolition of Palestinian homes and forced displacement, the demographic changes on the ground… and the open support, including from a recent Knesset declaration, for annexing the West Bank.' 'We are at a breaking point. The two-State solution is farther than ever before.' UN Secretary-General António Guterres urges bold political action to salvage the two-State solution and halt what he described as the systemic dismantling of peace effortshttps:// — UN News (@UN_News_Centre) July 28, 2025 He described these developments not as isolated incidents, but as part of a broader Israeli strategy that is 'dismantling the building blocks of peace in the Middle East.' Guterres was direct: 'The creeping annexation of the occupied West Bank is illegal. It must stop. The wholesale destruction of Gaza is intolerable. It must stop.' He called for 'bold and principled leadership' from Israel, the Palestinians, and the international community to prevent the collapse of any remaining diplomatic horizon. Guterres urged leaders not to allow the conference to become 'another exercise in well-meaning rhetoric,' but rather a 'decisive turning point — one that catalyzes irreversible progress toward ending the occupation and realizing our shared aspiration for a viable two-state solution.' Reaffirming the UN's long-standing position, he reiterated that the only credible solution remains two sovereign, democratic, and contiguous states — Israel and Palestine — living side by side within pre-1967 borders, with Jerusalem as the capital of both. At least 142 of the 193 UN member states now recognize the Palestinian state proclaimed by the Palestinian leadership in exile in 1988. Israel and the United States were not taking part in the meeting, amid growing international pressure on Israel to end nearly two years of genocidal war on Gaza.
