Haqimi proves critics wrong with Best Young Player award
The 22-year-old never let the online criticism demoralised him. It made him more determined instead.
This has made Haqimi more determined to "put his boots in the mouth of his detractors".
Haqimi worked hard to improve his skill, and it has reached a level that he was named the Best Young Player at the National Football Awards on Wednesday.
"Being criticised is normal. That's what usually happens with footballers. I think we can't take it seriously," he said.
His Best Young Player award was a recognition of his calibre performances for KL City in the Super League.
"This is all due to my hard work, game by game, and I will continue to improve myself after winning this trophy," he said.
"Of course, this award will have a huge impact on me. This is the first time I've won it.
"It's a great honour. This award is for my family and friends who are constantly supporting me," he said.
Haqimi also credited KL City for their role in his rise, thanking the club as the foundation of his development.

Brunei coach compares challenge in Malaysian football to Scottish Premier League
PETALING JAYA: Brunei coach Jamie McAllister is getting a taste of what the Super League is like, and he admits the challenge is tough. Brunei are in search of their first win in the season after suffering a 3-0 loss against Selangor at the Petaling Jaya Stadium on Tuesday, following their 2-2 draw against Police in their season opener on Aug 9. McAllister drew a comparison to the Scottish Premier League, saying the Super League possesses some tough opponents. "It's quite similar to the Scottish Premier League actually. It's physical, and there are a lot of good quality players," said McAllister. The 47-year-old from Glasgow had spent several years playing in Scotland's top flight with Aberdeen, Livingston, and Heart of Midlothian. Having also been at Brunei's helm while they competed in the Singapore Premier League last year, McAllister added that the Super League is a different level, but is nevertheless confident his team can bounce back. "The Super League is also a tougher league than what the Singapore Premier League is. So it's a big challenge for us, and one we're looking forward to," he said. The match saw the Red Giants bag their first win of the season, thanks to Thai international Kevin Deeromram's two goals before half-time and one from Brazilian import Chrigor Moraes in the second half.
