Google Pixel 10 series phones run on Tensor G5 that Google says is its 'biggest upgrade' yet
Google has launched the Pixel 10 series of smartphones – all powered by Tensor G5 . The company says that the new chip represents the company's most significant upgrade to its custom silicon yet, with a heavy emphasis on powering advanced, on-device artificial intelligence (AI) and delivering major performance gains. "Our vision for Pixel has always been to create a smartphone that's defined by smart, helpful features," the company stated in its announcement. The Tensor G5, now in its fifth generation, is the core of that strategy, it added. Tensor G5: Performance and efficiency leap Built in partnership with TSMC on a 3nm process, the Tensor G5 features major architectural improvements. Google claims the new chip delivers a 34% faster CPU on average and a 60% more powerful Tensor Processing Unit (TPU), the component dedicated to machine learning tasks. This upgrade is designed to make the Pixel 10 more responsive in daily use while also being more power-efficient. The chip also integrates new security hardware to enhance device protection. Gemini Nano for Google AI features At the heart of the Tensor G5's new capabilities is a close collaboration with Google's DeepMind AI lab. The chip is the first to run the company's newest and most efficient Gemini Nano model directly on the device, without needing to connect to the cloud. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo According to Google, this allows AI-driven features to run 2.6 times faster and twice as efficiently compared to the previous generation. This power enables a new suite of proactive features, including: Magic Cue: A system for offering proactive help and suggestions. Voice Translate: Providing real-time, on-device translation. Call Notes with actions: A feature that can automatically summarize phone conversations and identify action items. A smarter, more powerful camera The camera system, a traditional hallmark of the Pixel line, receives a significant boost from the G5's all-new Image Signal Processor (ISP). Google promises higher-quality video, particularly in low light, with motion deblur and 10-bit video now standard. The company also highlighted improvements to Real Tone technology to more accurately capture diverse skin tones. The new chip also powers advanced computational photography features like "Auto Best Take" and an impressive "Pro Res Zoom" that extends the camera's range to 100x. In a move aimed at combating misinformation, the Pixel 10 will be the first smartphone with built-in C2PA Content Credentials. This system, running securely on the Tensor G5 and Titan M2 chip, embeds secure metadata into an image's file, creating a verifiable record of its origin and edit history. Indian indices open flat as FPI outflows weigh on sentiment despite govt boosters
Market experts noted that factors such as monetary and fiscal stimulus, good monsoons, benign inflation, and targeted consumption boosters should ideally have pushed Indian markets higher. The Nifty 50 index opened at 24,965.80, slipping by 14.85 points or 0.06 per cent. Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex started the day at 81,669.09, registering a modest gain of 24.70 points or 0.03 per cent. New Delhi: Indian stock markets opened flat on Tuesday as continuous foreign portfolio investor (FPI) outflows kept indices in check, even as the government recently announced several consumption-boosting measures. Ajay Bagga, Banking and Market Expert, told ANI 'What has held back the markets has been a relatively higher valuation in an underwhelming earnings recovery scenario. As earnings rise, Indian markets will rise ahead of these. That could happen by the next quarter as the festive season boost meets the government boosters. At some point, Indian markets will take off in anticipation.' On the global front, Bagga said that the easing of tensions between India and China, along with Chinese assurances on supply of rare earths, fertilisers, and tunnel boring machines, as well as expectations of large FDI inflows, should have improved investor sentiment. India is also making efforts to address the impact of punitive tariffs imposed by the US on key labour-intensive export sectors. In addition, the country is working to forge stronger economic partnerships at the geostrategic level. These measures will safeguard jobs and benefit India's trade outlook in the coming months. Another factor that markets are closely watching is the movement of FPIs. Large short positions taken by FPIs have added pressure on the indices. Once these reverse, Indian markets could see sharp short covering, potentially helping indices climb to all-time highs by the end of the year. In the broader market, the Nifty 100 was down by 0.08 per cent, while the Nifty Midcap 100 slipped 0.05 per cent. The Nifty Small Cap 100, however, gained 0.11 per cent in the opening session. Among sectoral indices on NSE, mixed trends were seen. Nifty Auto rose 0.17 per cent, while Nifty FMCG declined by 0.17 per cent. Nifty Pharma was down 0.20 per cent, Nifty Realty slipped 0.14 per cent, and Nifty Oil & Gas fell 0.15 per cent. Vikram Kasat, Head – Advisory at PL Capital, said, 'Nifty continued its bullish momentum. On the hourly chart, there was a gap zone between 24,993-25,046 levels which will be the immediate resistance. Clearing this can push the Nifty higher towards 25,250, which is a make-or-break zone from a medium-term perspective. The 24,852-24,673 range will be the support zone.' In the Asian markets, trading sentiment was largely weak on Tuesday morning. Japan's Nikkei 225 index declined by 1.87 per cent, Hong Kong's Hang Seng lost 0.77 per cent, Taiwan's weighted index slipped by more than 2 per cent, while South Korea's KOSPI fell by 1.98 per cent at the time of filing this report. Consumer authority slaps Rs 10 lakh fine on Rapido for misleading ads, unfair trade practices
NEW DELHI: The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has imposed a penalty of Rs 10 lakh on ride-hailing platform Rapido for disseminating misleading advertisements and engaging in unfair trade practices. The action was taken suo motu by the authority following investigation into the company's advertisement claim: 'Guaranteed Auto. Auto in 5 mins or get Rs 50'. The CCPA, in its order issued on Wednesday, directed Rapido to immediately discontinue the misleading advertisements and compensate consumers who were not provided the promised cashback. Each affected consumer is to be paid Rs 50, as originally advertised. It also instructed the company to file a compliance report within 15 days. According to CCPA, Rapido's misleading advertisement ran for over 18 months in multiple regional languages and across more than 120 cities. 'Therefore, the CCPA finds it necessary to impose a penalty to safeguard the interests of consumers,' it said. As per the order, between April 2023 and May 2024, 575 complaints were filed against Rapido on the National Consumer Helpline and these covered issues such as non-refund of amounts, overcharging, service deficiency, and failure to provide promised benefits. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 1 Reason to Read The 5 Books American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends For Turning Your Life... Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Of these, five complaints were directly related to the misleading 'guaranteed auto' claim. Consumers had reported that instead of receiving Rs 50 upon failure to get an auto within 5 minutes, they were credited with only Rs 5 in Rapido coins — which could only be redeemed against bike rides and expired within seven days. The authority found that these terms were neither clearly stated nor prominently displayed. In its defence, the company submitted that the terms and conditions were clear that customers would be eligible for coins 'up to Rs 50 which could be redeemed against Bike rides on Rapido platform' and that the validity of such coins was for 7 days from the time it is credited to customer's wallet. However, the CCPA noted that the advertisements did not include the term 'up to', and the 'T&C Apply' disclaimer was barely visible, misleading the average consumer.
