Singh has been conferred the Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal for his role in Operation Sindoor, while Deputy Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti has received the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal. Director General Naval Operations Vice Admiral A.N. Pramod has been honoured with the Yudh Seva Medal on Independence Day.
Thirteen Indian Air Force officers have been awarded the prestigious Yudh Seva Medal for their significant role in executing offensive operations and defending India's airspace. The awardees include Air Vice Marshal Joseph Suares, Air Vice Marshal Prajual Singh, and Air Commodore Ashok Raj Thakur.Additionally, 26 officers and airmen of the Indian Air Force awarded the Vayu Sena Medal (Gallantry), including fighter pilots who took part in missions to hit targets inside Pakistan and officers and men operating the S-400 and other air defence systems which foiled all attacks planned by Pakistan on Indian soil. Sixteen Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have been awarded gallantry medals for displaying "conspicuous bravery" and "unmatched valour" during Operation Sindoor against Pakistan.
The medals for gallantry (GM) for these troops, some of whom destroyed enemy surveillance cameras while others neutralised drone attacks, were announced by the Union government on the eve of the 79th Independence Day.The paramilitary force is tasked with guarding the 2,290-km-long India-Pakistan International Border (IB), apart from the Line of Control (LoC), under the Army's operational control along the western flank of the country."This Independence Day, 16 Brave Seema Praharis (border guards) are being awarded Gallantry Medals for their conspicuous bravery & unmatched valour, for being resolute & steadfast during the Ops Sindoor."The medals are a testament to the Nation's faith & trust reposed in India's First Line of Defence: The Border Security Force," the BSF said in a social media post.

NEW DELHI: Airing concerns over infiltration and illegal immigration and their impact on national security and demographic character of border areas, PM Narendra Modi Friday announced the setting up of a 'high-powered demographic mission' to address these challenges. Elaborating on the decades-old problem of illegal immigration from across the international border, Modi said it is part of an orchestrated campaign to alter the nation's demography. "Illegal immigrants are snatching the livelihoods of young citizens. They are targeting our mothers and sisters and capturing lands of innocent tribals. This will not be tolerated," he said. "When there is a demographic change in border areas, it threatens national security. It compromises national integrity, sovereignty and progress and creates social tension. No country hands over its territory to illegal immigrants. It is our duty towards our forefathers, whose sacrifices brought us Independence, not to tolerate such acts," Modi said.
