Access to the closed roads will be available for pedestrians and emergency services only, with no alternative vehicle access to the seafront area of Bray available. Latest Wicklow bathing water samples published for all beaches
Wicklow County Council monitors bathing areas along its coastline during the bathing season, which runs from June 1 to September 15 each year, with water quality sampling taking place throughout the summer, from May to September. There are seven bathing waters identified under the Bathing Water Regulations 2008: Bray South Promenade, Greystones South Beach, Silver Strand, Brittas Bay North Beach, Brittas South Beach, Clogga Beach and The Cove in Greystones. The local authority also monitors six other bathing waters (termed 'non-identified bathing waters') in the county, including south of Bray Harbour, Kilcoole Beach, The Murrough in Wicklow, The Cove in Arklow, the Wicklow Harbour Bathing Area and Arklow South Beach. Wicklow bathing waters are ranked on a scale from poor, sufficient, good to excellent, with the latest bathing water results – taken on Wednesday, July 30 – returning an 'excellent' result at all seven identified bathing waters and all non-identified bathing waters, excluding The Murrough, which was not tested on that date, but returned an excellent result when tested on July 28. Two additional non-identified bathing waters were also tested on July 30, with the Wicklow Harbour and Travelahawk in Wicklow also returning excellent results. All Wicklow bathing waters are scheduled to be sampled again on August 11.
