He noted that whilst the 2013 waqf legislation functioned without issues, the 2025 amendment presents significant concerns. He particularly objected to the inclusion of non-Muslims in the act, questioning their involvement in Muslim Waqf Board matters. He urged the Centre to acknowledge these peaceful protests.

He emphasised that terrorists lack religious affiliation, and no faith permits the killing of another's followers. Over five thousand people took part in the protest.

Sukhbir vows to uphold panthic ideals, flays rebel SAD, AAP govt
Sangrur: Shiromani Akali Dal ( SAD ) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday said panthic ideals and principles were paramount for him and he would never compromise on the prestige of the panth for power. He also said Punjab had always been "most important" for him. Addressing a gathering at the party conference to mark the 40th death anniversary of Harchand Singh Longowal at the latter's native village in Longowal, Sukhbir said he had made his stand clear to leaders like Prem Singh Chandumjra, Parminder Singh Dhindsa and Surjit Singh Rakhra. "These leaders wanted to force me into compromises so that they could become MPs and ministers, but I told them that resolving the issues of the quom (community) and Punjab were most important for me and unless these matters were addressed I would never agree to their requests," said Sukhbir. The SAD president said he would lead the fight to secure the rights of Punjab from the front and would never bow down to the Centre. The Akali leader asserted that he needed the people who had come to the conference and not the leaders who left the party for their selfish interests. Targeting the rebel faction of the SAD, Sukhbir said: "A nawan chulha dal has been established in the state which is getting cooking gas free of cost from the Centre to divide the Punjabis". by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Your Finger Shape Says a Lot About Your Personality, Read Now Tips and Tricks Undo Pointing to jailed MP Amritpal Singh, Sukhbir, without taking his name, said similarly a self-proclaimed leader who had come from Dubai and donned the 'bana' of a Sikh and whose own family members were drug addicts deceived Punjabis into voting for him in the last parliamentary elections. Sukhbir also led a blistering attack on Bhagwant Mann, saying that he had not only failed as a CM but also as a leader from Sangrur district. He said the CM had not found the time to even visit this district and address the grievances of its people. "Tell me if Bhagwant Mann has established even one road, school or irrigation canal in this district," he asked, adding even promises like establishing a medical college at Mastuana Sahib remained a "pipe dream". He also highlighted how Mann had become a "mere figurehead" with Arvind Kejriwal assuming all powers in Punjab and even taking up residence in "new Sheesh Mahal" at Mohali. Similarly, Manish Sisodia and Satyendra Jain, who have also shifted to Chandigarh, have taken control of all the ministries, claimed Sukhbir. He also slammed the AAP govt for going back on all the promises made to the people. Sukhbir reminded the AAP govt that the SAD had always kept its promises and made the state power surplus, instituted old age pension and 'Shagun' scheme, besides creating expressways crisscrossing the entire Punjab. Assuring people that the SAD would address their concerns and safeguard their future, Sukhbir said: "Once our party forms a govt in the state it will change the requisite laws and ensure govt jobs are given to the Punjabis only." "The AAP govt twisted laws to hand over 50% of all new govt jobs in the state to the outsiders from Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan. Outsiders will be banned from purchasing land in the state and all new industries will have to employ 80% Punjabi employees," he added. Senior party leader Daljit Singh Cheema spoke on how repeated central govts had gone back on commitments made to Sant Longowal under the Rajiv-Longowal accord, including denying Punjab its capital of Chandigarh. He also condemned a proposed legislation under which any chief minister or minister facing charges with a minimum five-year jail term would lose their chair if they were arrested or detained for 30 consecutive days. He said the legislation hit at the foundations of democracy as now central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate would make or break the CMs and ministers. BJP demands Rahul's apology for misleading people on SIR
Patna: BJP on Wednesday demanded a public apology from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for misleading the people against the special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Bihar. Revenue and land reforms minister Sanjay Saraogi alleged that Rahul "misused" Ranju Devi of Chafla village under Nauhatta block in Rohtas district during his "Vote Adhikar Yatra" in Aurangabad on Monday by presenting her as a victim of SIR though she and her other family members had their names already on the voter list. "Ranju Devi has accepted that she was misguided by a panchayat official. Now, Rahul should apologize to the country," Saraogi said. When asked whether Rahul and the other opposition leaders like RJD's Tejashwi should stop their yatra, the minister said they, in fact, were not touring Bihar against SIR but for votes and campaigning for the state elections this year. "This is not a "Voter Adhikar Yatra", but for the selection of their candidates for the PM and CM posts," he said while referring to Tejashwi's call on Tuesday to make Rahul the PM after the next Lok Sabha elections. "Rahul and Tejashwi are preparing the background to speak on their defeat in the upcoming elections. They are afraid that the names of infiltrators have been deleted," he said at a press conference also attended by BJP state media in charge Danish Eqbal and media co-in charge Suraj Pandey. He further said Sanjay Kumar of CSDS has admitted the errors in his figures given earlier regarding Maharashtra assembly elections and apologized for it. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Your Finger Shape Says a Lot About Your Personality, Read Now Tips and Tricks Undo His data was quoted by the Congress and other opposition leaders while accusing the Election Commission, a constitutional body, of 'vote thefts'. Veterans sidelined, infighting inevitable, says Congress on Chhattisgarh cabinet expansion, calls it ‘unconstitutional'
RAIPUR: The expansion of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai's cabinet, which brought the strength of Chhattisgarh council of ministers to 14, has drawn sharp criticism from the Opposition Congress. Party leaders alleged that the BJP sidelined its senior legislators to promote newcomers, while also questioning the legality of increasing the cabinet size. Following the swearing-in of Rajesh Agrawal, Guru Khushwant Saheb, and Gajendra Yadav on Wednesday, celebrations erupted in their constituencies. Supporters in Durg, Arang, and Lakanpur lit fireworks, beat drums, and raised slogans to mark the occasion. But the Congress painted a very different picture. State Congress President Deepak Baij alleged that none of the three new ministers reflected the chief minister's own choice. 'One has been appointed under influences and RSS pressure,' he said. He accused the BJP of humiliating its veterans while elevating first-timers. 'Senior MLAs like Dharamlal Kaushik and Ajay Chandrakar did not even attend the oath ceremony. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo It shows how they have been pushed into a 'Margdarshak Mandal.' Unlike our government, where seniors were respected, the BJP has discarded its stalwarts. Infighting will only intensify,' Baij remarked. Former chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, raised constitutional concerns over the expansion. He reminded that under the 2003 law, the size of the council of ministers cannot exceed 15 percent of the strength of the assembly, which for Chhattisgarh means only 13 ministers. 'In 2018, when our government came to power, we had written to the Centre seeking approval for a 14-member cabinet, citing the state's large geography. Despite passing it in the assembly, the Centre never granted approval. So the question is, when did the Sai government get this permission? If no approval has been obtained, then the 14-member cabinet is unconstitutional,' Baghel said. He also claimed that BJP seniors such as Lata Usendi, Vikram Usendi, Ajay Chandrakar, Rajesh Munat, and Union minister Renuka Singh had been sidelined. 'All senior leaders have been dismissed in one stroke. If they still have any self-respect left, they must show some courage,' Baghel said.
