Born and raised in Tshepisong, her journey in music began at the tender age of seven, when she was introduced to classical music at Margaret Gwele Primary School. She continued to nurture her passion for music throughout her school years, participating in the South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod competitions until she completed her matric at Wiseman Cele Secondary School.
Sibongile's professional career took off in 2015 when she worked with Big Wig Opera's chorus in three productions: L'elisir d'amore, La Bohème, and Madama Butterfly. She then went on to collaborate with Gauteng Opera's chorus in La Bohème. Her talent has also taken her beyond South Africa's borders, participating in an elegy by Gabrielle Goliath in Germany and performing at the Spiel Arts Festival in Sweden in 2019 alongside Khayakazi Madla and Phenyo Modiane.
Some of her notable performances include a concert at the Golden Gate Highlands National Park alongside Yolanda Nyembezi and the Gauteng Opera Chorus. In 2019, she was part of the Durban Opera Potpourri as a mezzo-soprano and presented the National Choir Festival live stream alongside Bongani Drama.
In addition to her classical background, Sibongile has explored other creative avenues. She released an EP titled Ungowami with Yustinez ZA in 2022, marking a new chapter in her music career as an Afro-beat artist. With a multifaceted talent portfolio, Sibongile is also a skilled makeup artist, presenter, and newsreader.
Through her journey, Sibongile has demonstrated her versatility, passion and dedication to the arts, making her a rising star in various fields.

Greece Seeks Migration Deal with Eastern Libya to Halt Boat Departures
Greece is seeking to sign a migration agreement with Libyan authorities aimed at intercepting migrant boats departing from eastern Libya, as arrivals to Crete and Gavdos islands sharply increase, according to Info Migrants newspaper. The move mirrors the controversial 2017 Italy-Libya agreement to stem migrant flows across the Mediterranean. Greek Minister of Migration and Asylum, Makis Voridis, revealed a 174% increase in irregular arrivals from Libya since the start of 2025. He expressed hopes of striking a deal with Libya to manage these flows, citing the pressing need to control rising landings on southern Greek islands. Local port authorities in Crete reported that nearly 3,000 migrants had arrived by mid-May, with over 500 rescued during 23–24 May alone. Many are Sudanese nationals fleeing war, according to Greek officials. However, German outlet Deutsche Welle noted that Voridis lacks a reliable Libyan partner to negotiate with. Eastern Libya, the origin of most boats, is beyond the control of Tripoli's internationally recognised government, which signed the 2017 agreement with Rome. Analysts also point to the absence of adequate funding to convince armed groups operating along the eastern coast to halt boat departures. Under the Italy-Libya pact, Rome provided funding and technical support to intercept migrant vessels. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reports that 21,762 migrants were intercepted by Libya's coastguard in 2024 and returned to Libya—higher than 2023's 17,190 figure. Rights groups warn of systemic abuse. NGOs and journalists have documented torture, forced detention, and sexual violence against returnees. In June 2024, German NGO Sea-Watch released a video showing Libyan coastguards beating migrants rescued by a commercial ship. The group denounced European complicity in 'systemic human rights violations.' Amnesty International also criticised Italy's continued support for Libya's coastguard under its 2025 decree. Spokesperson Anneliese Baldaccini told the Italian parliament that the UN considers Libya unsafe for returned migrants and noted that a UN fact-finding mission found 'reasonable grounds to believe crimes against humanity are being committed.' Murder charges laid over missing teen
Pheobe Bishop's housemates have been charged with murder, in a devastating update three weeks after the teen suspiciously vanished. James Wood, 34, and Tanika Bromley, were charged by police on Thursday. 'Detectives have charged a 34-year-old man and 33-year-old woman with murder in relation to the disappearance of 17-year-old Pheobe Bishop,' Queensland Police said in a statement on Thursday night. They have been charged with one count each of murder and two counts each of interfering with a corpse. They are due to appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Friday. Pheobe was last seen by her housemates who were driving her to Bundaberg Airport from their home in Gin Gin on May 15. Police have conducted several inquiries during their investigations, including multiple searches of Good Night Scrub National Park, forensic examinations of a Gin Gin property and vehicle. 'Detectives continue to investigate this matter, and physical searches will continue as needed as information is provided.' Police have regularly appealed for dashcam or CCTV footage of Ms Bromley's grey Hyundai ix35 the trio were travelling in, revealing it was a key component of the investigation into the teen's disappearance. Mr Wood was initially arrested on Wednesday June 4, before being released without charge. He had earlier broken his silence about the last time he saw the missing girl as he drove her to Bundaberg Airport for a flight to Perth. He told the Daily Mail on Wednesday Pheobe had been complaining and having emotional outbursts before they left for the airport. 'We wanted to give her five minutes, give her her own space to do what she needed to do,' he told the Daily Mail. 'We walked to the end, it was maybe five minutes, maybe it was three minutes or maybe it was eight but that's about how long we were gone.' He said when they returned to the car Phoebe and her bag were gone. Mr Wood insisted that he did not hurt Pheobe and assumed she had boarded the flight.
