Ambekar was responding to a question on a comment by Congress leader Priyank Kharge that lifting the ban on the RSS was a mistake. Priyank, the son of Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, was criticising RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale's remarks seeking a debate on whether the words socialism and secularism should remain part of the Preamble.
Ambekar sought to clarify Hosabale's statement.
'What Datta ji has said is very clear. He has spoken about all that happened during the Emergency… such as atrocities in jails… atrocities unleashed on the Constitution. So, after 50 years, there should be a debate on these issues, he has said. It should be taken in that context,' he said.
Ambekar said: 'People from various sections of the society are getting associated with the Sangh and supporting it. This clearly shows how people see the Sangh.'

As Kharge reaches Hyderabad, posters accusing Congress of violating Constitution put up in Hyderabad
On Friday (July 4, 2025) when All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge arrived in Hyderabad, posters and flexi banners were put up at several junctions and bus stops targeting the Congress government accusing it of governing with an iron hand violating the Constitution. The banners without any names of the publishers claimed that the Congress government unleashed violence and atrocities against the people. It was further charged that people were arrested and implicated in false cases for demanding the implementation of [2023 Assembly] poll promises.. Mocking the Congress party's slogan of 'Save the Constitution,' the posters claimed that the government was 'Destroying the Constitution' and harassed people in Telangana. The slogans filled with sarcasm included 'Jai Bapu, violence is our weapon,' 'Jai Bhim, SCs/STs are our goal,' and 'Jai Samvidhan, Constitution is of no importance to us.' Pictures of police arresting people were also included in the posters. The posters appeared overnight, and there was no mention of any political party or the organisations that prepared the posters. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) was asked to remove the posters put up at public places without any permission. Congress party, however, accused the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) of resorting to cheap politics and said such posters have become a norm whenever a national level Congress leader tours Hyderabad. The BRS's desperation to paint the Congress government in a bad light has reached the lowest levels, but there are no takers for its claims as people have not forgotten how it suppressed democratic protests, Congress Media Committee Chairman Sama Ram Mohan Reddy said. The BRS - which closed even the Dharna Chowk - talking about suppression is laughable, he said.

UP Enforces Food Licenses Display On Kanwar Yatra Route, Opposition Hits Out
Lucknow: The UP government's move to make it mandatory for all shops along the Kanwar Yatra route to have proper licenses and clearly display the owner's original name has come in for criticism from the opposition. However, the state government has defended the move, with senior minister Sanjay Nishad saying that the accusation holds no weight. Mr Nishad said, "The party whose nameplate the public has torn down and thrown away, that party's words hold no weight... Our government makes decisions for the welfare of the public, which is why the public stands with us..." Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, said that every buyer had the right to know who they were purchasing things from. "The Samajwadi Party always engages in appeasement politics... We will maintain law and order in every situation... Every buyer has the right to know and understand from whom they are purchasing edible items, and this is also a regulation. If they are writing it or being asked to write it, what problem do they have with it?" he said. Senior Minister OP Rajbhar said, "The government strives to ensure that every festival is conducted plans the government is making, they are for all castes and religions. Different religions have different arrangements, so this was done to avoid any opposition always speaks against the ruling party, this is their only work" Earlier, reacting to the Kanwar Yatra 'nameplate' row Congress National Spokesperson Shama Mohamed said that this is an attempt to divert attention. These hotels have been there for years. Didn't the Kanwar Yatra start here 10 years ago? The Kanwar Yatra used to start peacefully. There was no unrest there. Why is all this happening now? Now, they are asking for Aadhaar cards from hoteliers. They are making shopkeepers remove their pants," he said. The Yatra began on June 10. In the Kanwar Yatra procession, Kanwariyas collect water from a river and carry it hundreds of kilometres to offer it to the shrines of Lord Shiva. According to Hindu beliefs, Parshuram, a devotee of Shiva and Lord Vishnu's avatar, participated in the initial procession. Devotees across the country perform worship, fasting and pilgrimage dedicated to the Lord Shiva.

Bureaucrat Bishnupada Sethi gets protection from arrest till July 8
CUTTACK: The Orissa High Court on Thursday granted interim protection from arrest to senior IAS officer Bishnupada Sethi in connection with the ongoing CBI investigation into an alleged corruption case. The court has posted the matter for further hearing on July 8. The case originates from the December 8 arrest of a group general manager of a public sector undertaking (PSU), who was allegedly caught accepting rS 10 lakh bribe from a Bhubaneswar-based real estate firm. During interrogation, Sethi's name reportedly surfaced, leading the CBI to conduct a search at his residence on February 18. Sethi had earlier filed a writ petition on February 25 seeking to quash the CBI investigation. The high court had granted him interim protection at that time, which was extended periodically until the petition was dismissed on June 20. On the same day, Sethi filed an anticipatory bail plea. After a preliminary hearing on Thursday, Justice V Narasingh granted Sethi interim protection from arrest until the next hearing and sought a status report on the investigation from the CBI. In its June 20 ruling, the court had dismissed the writ petition, calling it 'premature and not maintainable' since the probe was still at an early stage. The court cautioned against misuse of its extraordinary jurisdiction under Article 226 of the Constitution to obstruct legitimate investigations. Emphasising the principle that 'higher the office, greater the responsibility,' the court remarked that public servants, especially senior bureaucrats like Sethi, are expected to uphold the law and not evade scrutiny. It also criticised what it described as 'forum-shopping' by the petitioners, warning that allowing such practices would send a dangerous message.
