DBKL cracks down on unlicensed foreign hawkers
In its latest operation, it conducted a special crackdown on several known hotspots, including Jalan Leboh Pudu, Jalan Tun Tan Siew Sin, Jalan Petaling and Jalan Sultan.
The enforcement was carried out following routine monitoring of the Petaling area, which revealed continued illegal trading activities by foreigners without valid hawker licences.
As a result of the operation, 13 seizures were made against unlicensed hawkers under the Licensing of Hawkers By-Laws (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) 2016.
All confiscated items were transported to the Jalan Lombong Seizure Depot in Taman Miharja, Cheras, for documentation and record-keeping.
City Hall said it would continue monitoring and enforcement from time to time at high-risk locations identified through surveillance.
Members of the public with complaints or information are encouraged to come forward or submit details via the relevant City Hall channels.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) removed 18 parked motorcycles that obstructed pedestrian walkways and disabled facilities near the Bangsar Light Rail Transit (LRT) station. DBKL seizes illegal stalls blocking public paths in Desa Melawati, Desa Setapak
KUALA LUMPUR — City Hall (DBKL) officers seized equipment from nine unlicensed business operators in Desa Melawati and Desa Setapak for obstructing public spaces. The enforcement was part of a special operation targeting illegal stalls and foreign-run businesses that had taken over pedestrian areas with tables, chairs and other commercial equipment. In a statement, DBKL said the businesses were found operating without valid licences and had placed items along five-foot ways and pedestrian walkways, disrupting public access. 'Action was taken against premises that placed tables, chairs and business equipment in public areas without permission, including those operated by foreigners,' DBKL said. The city hall said the seizures were part of an operations campaign against foreigner-operated stalls and pathway obstructions in the Wangsa Maju area. DBKL added that enforcement and monitoring efforts will continue, and members of the public are encouraged to report similar violations via its website.

Anwar vows no cover-up in Zara Qairina death investigation
KOTA KINABALU, Aug 3 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has vowed that no individual — regardless of rank or political ties — will be shielded from the investigation into the death of student Zara Qairina Mahathir. Anwar slammed those making baseless allegations, particularly against high-profile figures, without evidence. 'Regardless of whether they are Datuk Seri or Tan Sri, we will investigate if there is proof. We are a country of laws, not slander. 'If someone is guilty, they will be punished. But do not throw baseless accusations just because they are the child of a minister or a relative of a deputy prime minister or deputy chief minister,' he said during the National Farmers, Breeders and Fishermen's Day (HPPNK) 2025 event here. Anwar confirmed that police had completed their investigation and submitted the full report to the Attorney General's Chambers. He said he had contacted Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail and Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to ensure that the probe was carried out thoroughly and without interference. 'The IGP informed me that 60 individuals have already been called to give their statements,' he added. He emphasised that no one would be spared if found guilty but warned the public not to fabricate accusations against political figures or their families. Anwar also disclosed that the attorney general confirmed receiving the report on Monday. He urged Malaysians to avoid politicising the case.
