Napa man vanishes while awaiting sentence on child sex crimes
NAPA, Calif. - Authorities in Napa are searching for a man who vanished after awaiting sentencing on a 25-year term for sex crimes, police said.

The Napa Police Department said Antonio Roman-Vega, 39, is wanted by the county's probation department.
Roman-Vega was to be sentenced for multiple counts of assault on a minor with intent to commit rape.

The man had a GPS monitor that was last detected Nov. 8 in Tulare County's unincorporated area of Earlimart.
Tulare County sheriff's deputies searched the area but could not find him. His GPS device was believed to be in the middle of a retaining pond.
His vehicle, a black 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, was last seen in Delano on March 10. The license plate of the truck is CA 68482E1.

Third man arrested after Mud Island shooting
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police arrested another man on Tuesday after two men were arrested last week in connection with the Mud Island shooting. Maness is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday. On June 2 at 12:45 p.m., officers responded to a shooting at Island Place East and Island Village Drive. Police said the suspects were three men in a red Chevrolet Silverado. They said that the suspects cut the victim off and attempted to steal his 2020 Ford F-150 before they shot him and fled. When the male victim was shot, he tried to get away from the suspects but ended up crashing into a mailbox. That crash caught the attention of a witness, who helped the victim stay awake until paramedics arrived. Arrests made in connection to Mud Island shooting Two other witnesses heard the gunshot, and one of them had video footage that captured the suspects' truck. The male victim was taken to Regional One in critical condition. At last check, he is expected to survive. Violent Crime Investigators arrived at the scene and gathered evidence. They determined that the suspect vehicle was stolen from the 1500 block of Monroe earlier that morning. On June 3, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., officers responded to a suspicious vehicle in the 100 block of East Holmes Road. The red Chevrolet Silverado was recovered and towed to the city lot. On June 5, 2025, DeSoto County investigators reached out and provided information on this case. VCU was advised that when DeSoto County assisted MPD with the arrests of Christopher Skelton, 29, and Justin Furnish, 42, for unrelated charges on June 2, 2025, the red truck was at the scene. Country singer Conner Smith involved in fatal pedestrian accident, police say
Country singer Conner Smith allegedly struck and killed a woman who was walking in a crosswalk in Nashville, authorities say. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said Smith, 24, was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on Sunday when a 77-year-old woman was crossing in the crosswalk. Police said the woman was struck around 7:30 p.m. The woman, identified as Dorothy Dobbins, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she died. "The preliminary contributing factor for this crash appears to be Smith failing to yield the right of way to the pedestrian," Nashville police said in a statement. Police said Smith showed no signs of impairment and that there are no current charges as the investigation continues. In a statement to CBS News, Smith's attorney, Worrick G. Robinson, confirmed the incident and said Smith "continues to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation." "On June 8th, Conner Smith was involved in a car accident that tragically claimed the life of Ms. Dorothy Dobbins," Robinson said. State police identify victim in deadly Salisbury crash
State Police have identified the person who died in an early-morning crash Monday in Salisbury. At 3:30 a.m. Monday, State Police dispatchers received a report of a single-vehicle crash on North Road. The caller reported a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck crashed into a tree, and the driver was unconscious. Members of the Salisbury Fire Department arrived on scene first, and determined the driver — identified as Brian L. Young, 63, of Andover — died of injuries sustained in the crash.
