Amid Immense Backlash For Seemingly Making Sexual Comments To A 17-Year-Old Lindsay Lohan, Anthony Anderson Has Responded

After a resurfaced video of Anthony Anderson interviewing Lindsay Lohan went viral for all the wrong reasons, he is speaking out.
Earlier this week, a clip from a December 2003 episode of The Sharon Osbourne Show went viral. Anthony was acting as the guest host, while Lindsay stopped by to celebrate the DVD and VHS release of her hit film Freaky Friday.
It's safe to assume the decades-old interview is making its rounds today because Lindsay is currently promoting her latest feature film — the sequel to Freaky Friday — Freakier Friday.
But it's catching everyone's attention due to the nature of the interview and the seemingly inappropriate comments a then-33-year-old Anthony was asking Lindsay, who was 17 at the time. Several remarks with sexual undertones were made, starting as soon as she walked on stage, when he greeted her with a kiss on the cheek and then made a joke about her kissing him "on the lips with tongue."

Moments that stick out throughout the interview also included Anthony telling Lindsay his family loved The Parent Trap, while immediately following up with, "You've grown up a whole lot since then," as he put his hand on her knee.
He also gifted her a pillow with his face on it after she revealed she and fellow child star, Raven-Symoné, got a place together. Although speaking of the pillow, he worded his next question with a sexual innuendo: "Now aside from entertaining me in your room and in your house, what gentleman will be at the new pad with you and Raven-Symoné?"

The conversation topics continued to grow more disturbing after Lindsay said she didn't plan on having any men at her new place, because she didn't have a boyfriend. Anthony announced to the audience, "Hmm...she's single and looking!" But Lindsay quickly reacted by pointing out, "But I'm illegal for people that are old."
He followed up her comments with, "Well, some men like 'em young, we ain't gonna mention no names, but, you know. I'm one of 'em."
Statements like these continued throughout the interview until it was over, literally. In fact, his final words to the audience were, "We're about to get our freak on," referring to him and Lindsay as he embraced her in a hug. While he was seemingly making a reference to Freaky Friday, the fact that he was saying these comments to a teenager made many viewers cringe. Lindsay also appeared uncomfortable during certain moments.

Well, today, Anthony is responding to the backlash: "This interview was clearly intended as comedy. He regrets if the humor was in poor taste and maintains the utmost respect for Lindsay," a spokesperson tells Entertainment Weekly via email on behalf of Anderson. "Any implication to the contrary is both inaccurate and potentially defamatory."
Beyond reactions to it being "creepy," some people also pointed out Anthony's controversial past, which includes several sexual assault allegations. The first one emerged in 2004 when Anthony and Hustle & Flow assistant director Wayne Witherspoon were accused of raping a 25-year-old extra on the set of the film. A woman claimed to have heard screaming, followed by a naked woman running from a trailer. She was later treated at St. Francis Hospital. The Daily Beast reported that Anthony was charged with aggravated rape but was released on a $20K bond. He denies the allegations.
A spokesperson for Anthony said in a statement: 'Anthony is a happily married family man who has never been accused of – no less involved in – anything remotely like this, and we are confident that when all the facts come out, he will be completely exonerated.' A Memphis judge threw out the case, deeming it 'the most suspicious case I've ever heard.'
Anthony has never been convicted of any of the charges brought against him.

It's been seven months since news first broke of a Grimm reboot being developed at Peacock, and we've been practically woging with anticipation ever since. So when TVLine recently connected with original series star Elizabeth Tulloch, we couldn't resist asking for an update, and the woman formerly known as Juliette (or Eve, depending on the day) was happy to oblige. 'I don't think they would do a reboot or a spinoff or whatever it's going to be without David's involvement.' Grimm originally aired for six seasons (2011–2017) on NBC, starring Giuntoli as Nick Burkhardt, a detective who descends from a long line of Grimms — aka slayers of fairytale monsters known as Wesen. 'It's pretty exciting,' Tulloch says of the show's still-growing fanbase, which she attributes to the show's multiple streaming homes. 'A lot of people are sort of finding Grimm. We did 123 episodes, and it has like 90% on Rotten Tomatoes still.' Platonic: Season 2 (August 6) Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne are back in "Platonic," an underrated Apple TV+ comedy that aims to prove friendship in your 40s isn't impossible — but that it's also as messy and hilarious as ever. And that, yes, men and women can be platonic friends with each other. The pair's chemistry remains the soul of the show, as their characters navigate midlife hurdles like work stress, weddings, and relationship chaos. Apple's "Invasion" is essentially an alien invasion story where the emphasis is on how humanity reacts to an outside threat, as opposed to the show primarily focusing on that alien threat itself. From Simon Kinberg and David Weil, season three finds the alien threat evolving and the scattered survivors of Earth's first contact with extraterrestrials finally coming together for a hair-raising mission — infiltrating the alien mothership. According to Apple's official summary of the new season, apex aliens have now emerged and are spreading their tendrils across the globe. As a result, this season ramps up the stakes considerably on the latest Apple TV+ sci-fi standout, starring Golshifteh Farahani and Shioli Kutsuna. One of the things that Apple's streamer does better than almost all of its rivals is produce top-tier sci-fi content, and "Invasion" is no exception to that rule. The first episode of the 10-episode Season 3 debuts on August 22, with one episode each week thereafter. KPOPPED (August 29) Finally — in case you couldn't tell by the dominance of everything from the success of Netflix's "KPop Demon Hunters" to the worldwide love for Korean superstars BTS — K-pop is... kind of having a moment. Apple TV+ has already dipped its toe in these waters via its 2024 docuseries "K-Pop Idols," and it's now poised to do it again -- albeit, this time, with a music competition series.
