‘Grey's Anatomy' Star Adelaide Kane Says Jules Is ‘in a State of Shock' After Mika's Exit

Yahoo07-03-2025
Note: This story contains spoilers from 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 21, Episode 9.
'Grey's Anatomy' returned with some big moments, a bonkers case and more than a few emotionally scarred doctors.
The midseason premiere, titled 'Hit the Floor,' resolved many big cliffhangers for the doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial, who we had last seen dealing with a record-breaking heat wave in Seattle in the aftermath of Dr. Mika Yasuda's heartbreaking exit.
Dr. Jules Millin (Adelaide Kane) was impacted the most by her fellow doctor's departure from the hospital, as the pair had been exploring a blossoming romantic relationship up until Mika's sister showed up asking for help with a cancer diagnosis — which resulted in her dying in a car accident and Mika leaving Seattle so she could heal from the grief away from where all fell apart.
In Episode 9, Jules is very much 'in a state of shock' from recent events and shutting all of her friends out, Kane said in an interview with TheWrap, which results in her making a mistake in surgery that leads to a patient falling off of the surgical table.
'This episode is a really beautiful exploration of what happens when you don not give yourself the time or the space to process your feelings,' Kane told TheWrap. 'We all do it to some extent when things are difficult … fake it till you make it a little bit, pretend everything is fine. But Jules is fooling nobody, except for herself, and in a hospital that sort of dissociation or distractedness can be incredibly dangerous.'
Jules' mistake came on the heels of her first lashing out at Bailey (Chandra Wilson), blaming her for not trying hard enough to keep Mika at the hospital, as well as her fellow classmate Simone (Alexis Floyd).
To make matters worse, a misunderstanding in the OR leads the higher-ups to believe it was Simone who made the mistake with the patient.
'I don't think she's even there [at that moment]. She's not even processing what happens,' Kane said. 'She is a good person and does not want somebody else to take the fall for her mistakes, but apologizing when you are already feeling miserable and hate yourself, and you have made all these mistakes, is very difficult.'
Near the end of the episode, Jules starts to make things right. She admits to Richard (James Pickens Jr.) that she made the mistake. Though he admires her intention of setting things right so it does not affect Simone's career, he tells her the person Jules really needs to be talking to in that moment is her friend. When she eventually finds Simone, she chickens out of the apology. She finds Simone reuniting with Lucas (Niko Terho) after surviving getting shot in a convenience store hours earlier.
The rest of the season will see more challenges for Jules, Kane teased, as she tries to shift her focus back into her career. We also should not expect her to jump into a new relationship any time soon, with Kane saying the sudden end of her relationship with Mika will steer Jules away from getting too emotionally involved, given her history.
Whether or not she will be able to fix her relationship with her friends remains to be seen.
The midseason premiere had plenty more story to tell, with Lucas and Jo (Camilla Luddington) surviving the convenience store shooting — though Jo had to undergo a procedure to keep her pregnancy safe after the trauma. Blue (Harry Shum Jr.) appeared to rekindle things with his ex-fiancée, who resurfaced earlier in the season. Teddy (Kim Raver) and Owen's (Kevin McKidd) faced yet another hurdle, as Owen confessed to developing feelings for his childhood friend Nora (Floriana Lima).
'Grey's Anatomy' airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and streams the next day on Hulu.

Is 'KPop Demon Hunters 2' happening? Here's what we've heard about the hit Netflix movie's future

It's safe to say 'KPop Demon Hunters' is a Netflix sensation by this point, right? Not only is it the streaming service's most-watched animated original ever, it's overtaken movies like "The Adam Project" and "Bird Box" to become Netflix's fourth most-watched English-language movie of all time. Nearly two months on from the hit animated musical film's release, it is still the platform's No. 1 watch — 'Kandahar' stole that spot briefly, but Huntrix has already reclaimed the top spot — and "KPop Demon Hunters" songs and scenes continue to generate tons of buzz all over social media. It wasn't just a hit with fans, either; critics love it, too. The movie's currently sitting at an impressive 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and has (rightly) won praise for its characters, its vibrant visuals and that killer soundtrack. Seeing as it is most definitely Netflix's next big thing, it only makes sense that fans are desperate to know whether 'KPop Demon Hunters 2' is something we can look forward to streaming in the future. At the time of writing, we do not have a firm answer from Netflix, so I've done my best to try and answer that question as best I can. Here's everything we know about the future of 'KPop Demon Hunters' right now. At the end of July, TheWrap reported that Netflix was (understandably) looking to capitalize big time on the 'KPop Demon Hunters' craze as much as possible. The movie was apparently being viewed as Netflix's version of 'Frozen," and the report claimed there were plans for two animated sequels, a live-action remake and/or maybe even a stage musical. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. However, we still haven't had an official announcement from Netflix, and thus still do not know whether 'KPop Demon Hunters' will return, or how big that theoretical return could be. The latest news on the matter comes from a recent interview The Hollywood Reporter published with co-directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans and Netflix film boss, Dan Lin. 'I think it's going to be part of our lives for a bit. I don't see the fandom slowing down,' Kang said. 'We hit an all-time high in viewership in week five, which is absolutely insane.' It's Dan Lin who makes it sound like we've not seen the last of Rumi, Zoey and Mira. Lin adds that Netflix is 'excited to explore what could be the next adventure for Huntrix.' ''KPDH's' success comes from its original, fresh story so if we do embark on a sequel, we would want to take our time to make sure that any future stories we tell with our favorite demon hunters retains the flair and uniqueness of the first film', Lin adds. That's a promising stance for a potential 'KPop Demon Hunters' sequel, seeing as both directors have already expressed interest in revisiting or expanding that world. When asked by ScreenRant whether they were thinking of follow-up ideas, Kang had this to say: 'Always. There are always side stories, and there are things we've thought of while making this one. There are a lot of questions that are answered, but not fully. I think there are a lot of pockets that we can explore.' Similarly, Appelhans told Shine On Media: 'Because we had to pack so much into 85 minutes — it's a pretty big idea and a lot of pieces — there are so many unanswered questions, in a good way, and so many avenues that could be their own story, so many possibilities.' So, in essence, if all the major players can agree on the right story, or the right new way to explore this universe, then it sure seems likely that 'KPop Demon Hunters 2' is in the pipeline. And seeing as the hype shows no signs of dying down just yet, I'd be shocked if the movie's future wasn't confirmed soon. In the meantime, we'll just have to be content with streaming 'KPop Demon Hunters' on Netflix on repeat. Hope my neighbors aren't sick of hearing 'Soda Pop' and 'Takedown' on repeat yet… Looking for something new to watch while you wait for more 'KPop Demon Hunters' news? Taylor Swift Reveals Title of Her 12th Album, ‘The Life of a Showgirl'

There's no release date yet, other than "before 10/13/2025" Taylor Swift revealed Monday night that her upcoming 12th album will be called 'The Life of a Showgirl.' The announcement came via the singer's official website, where fans can preorder the album, and on her Instagram account, where she also teased that she will be appearing on her boyfriend Travis Kelce's podcast on Wednesday to discuss it. The vinyl, cassette and CD releases will all have unique designs, just in case you want to go multi-format. And per the website, there's a limited supply. As such, only 4 copies will be sold to any one individual, presales are available only in the United States, and to enforce that, customers must have both a U.S. shipping and billing address to order. There's no release date yet — aside from news that your copy of the record 'ships before 10/13/2025.' And just to make it murkier, Swift's official website informs fans 'this is not the release date, official release date to be announced.' It's easy to deduce from this that the album comes out at some point before Oct. 13. Then again, maybe Swifties will get the record days or even months before the rest of us do. On the other hand, we know Swift considers 13 her lucky number, so maybe it'll Oct. 13th after all. Stay tuned! And before you ask, as you can see in the image of the vinyl release at the top of the page, the album cover art is also being held back for a later announcement. That said, the orange background with a lock over it would honestly make a really good cover on its own.
