Review: Denzel Curry at Salt Shed: This one's for the fans

Denzel Curry is for the people. That much was clear during his show Friday night at the Salt Shed, where a bevy of teenage and 20-something fans were bouncing off the walls (literally) from start to finish. After a number of up-and-coming openers, Curry finally took to the stage at around 9:50 p.m. to much fanfare. The artist — who is on tour to promote his latest record, 'King of the Mischievous South' — is something of a showman compared to his peers. Curry is a star, sure, but he's also a performer with a deep connection to his fans. His audience interactions are aplenty, sprinkled liberally between each song. He understands the instincts of his fans. Certain songs, like his cover of 'Goated' or the propulsive 'Sked' and 'Hit the Floor' made prime fodder for a group of fans who were itching to let loose and go crazy. Curry delivers, again and again, never letting up. It makes for a raucous night. Clad in a neon green tee, long-sleeve undershirt and a hat, Curry makes for an unassuming figure. Yet when the first notes of the apropos track 'Act a Damn Fool' begin to play through the Salt Shed's speakers, Curry unfurls an alter ego that's all parts fiery and spirited. That energy never lets up through the night, whether the audience is rapping along to the track 'Ricky' or perhaps getting ready to mosh during 'Still in the Paint.' At one point, he joked and asked if the paramedics were ready and insisted on not starting to perform again until the audience was primed and ready to go. It is that energy, that heart, that devotion to the fans that kept the show moving through the hour-long set. At one point, a woman threw a bra on the stage and Curry wore it on his head. Later, a young fan named Cynthia joined him on stage to rap along to 'Hot One.' It seemed like she knew about half of the lyrics, or maybe she was just a little nervous to be in a packed room of a few thousand folks. Yet the crowd and Curry alike were encouraging, a testament to the solid attitude and enthusiasm of the community he's curated. 1 of A capacity audience watches Denzel Curry perform at the Salt Shed Friday, April 25, 2025, in Chicago. (John J. Kim/Chicago Tribune) Interspersed throughout the set were a number of covers and additional surprises. On 'Diet,' which samples Kendrick Lamar's 'tv off,' Curry glided atop the beat with ease. He also covered 'First Night,' a Lyrical Lemonade track. And he was even joined on stage by Kenny Mason, one of his openers, for a rowdy performance of 'Sked.' In the end, it was a rap show, but also something more frenetic and wild. Curry takes his audience through a journey, one that's musical as much as it is physical. It's a riotous punk spirit that pushes the crowd to not stay so wrapped up in their phones and live firmly in the moment. Jump up. Dance. Mosh. Shout. Be free. Stop worrying so much about everyone around you and just have some fun.

Taylour Paige pregnant with first child

Taylour Paige is expecting her first child. The Zola actress announced her pregnancy news on Instagram on Monday by posting a photo in which she wore a form-fitting white dress that hugged her baby bump. She did not caption the post. The 34-year-old received congratulatory messages in the comments from fellow celebrities. "Omg YEASSS. Sooo happy for you," wrote Lily Collins, who became a mum in January, while Aja Naomi King posted, "Oh Congratulations," with multiple heart emojis. Actors Rachel Zegler, Julia Fox, Laura Harrier and Jay Ellis also reacted to Taylour's happy news. This will be the first child for the Ma Rainey's Black Bottom actress and her fashion designer husband Rivington Starchild, who have been married since October 2022. Earlier this month, Taylour opened up about her battle with endometriosis, a disease in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of it. In an Instagram post, she revealed that she experienced "so much agony and turmoil" over the 20 years it went undiagnosed. She underwent surgery in 2023 and candidly shared pictures of her scars in honour of Endometriosis Awareness Month. Taylour experienced her breakout film role with Zola in 2020, but she has also starred in the TV show Hit the Floor and the films Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, Mack & Rita and White Boy Rick.

‘Grey's Anatomy' Star Adelaide Kane Says Jules Is ‘in a State of Shock' After Mika's Exit

Note: This story contains spoilers from 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 21, Episode 9. 'Grey's Anatomy' returned with some big moments, a bonkers case and more than a few emotionally scarred doctors. The midseason premiere, titled 'Hit the Floor,' resolved many big cliffhangers for the doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial, who we had last seen dealing with a record-breaking heat wave in Seattle in the aftermath of Dr. Mika Yasuda's heartbreaking exit. Dr. Jules Millin (Adelaide Kane) was impacted the most by her fellow doctor's departure from the hospital, as the pair had been exploring a blossoming romantic relationship up until Mika's sister showed up asking for help with a cancer diagnosis — which resulted in her dying in a car accident and Mika leaving Seattle so she could heal from the grief away from where all fell apart. In Episode 9, Jules is very much 'in a state of shock' from recent events and shutting all of her friends out, Kane said in an interview with TheWrap, which results in her making a mistake in surgery that leads to a patient falling off of the surgical table. 'This episode is a really beautiful exploration of what happens when you don not give yourself the time or the space to process your feelings,' Kane told TheWrap. 'We all do it to some extent when things are difficult … fake it till you make it a little bit, pretend everything is fine. But Jules is fooling nobody, except for herself, and in a hospital that sort of dissociation or distractedness can be incredibly dangerous.' Jules' mistake came on the heels of her first lashing out at Bailey (Chandra Wilson), blaming her for not trying hard enough to keep Mika at the hospital, as well as her fellow classmate Simone (Alexis Floyd). To make matters worse, a misunderstanding in the OR leads the higher-ups to believe it was Simone who made the mistake with the patient. 'I don't think she's even there [at that moment]. She's not even processing what happens,' Kane said. 'She is a good person and does not want somebody else to take the fall for her mistakes, but apologizing when you are already feeling miserable and hate yourself, and you have made all these mistakes, is very difficult.' Near the end of the episode, Jules starts to make things right. She admits to Richard (James Pickens Jr.) that she made the mistake. Though he admires her intention of setting things right so it does not affect Simone's career, he tells her the person Jules really needs to be talking to in that moment is her friend. When she eventually finds Simone, she chickens out of the apology. She finds Simone reuniting with Lucas (Niko Terho) after surviving getting shot in a convenience store hours earlier. The rest of the season will see more challenges for Jules, Kane teased, as she tries to shift her focus back into her career. We also should not expect her to jump into a new relationship any time soon, with Kane saying the sudden end of her relationship with Mika will steer Jules away from getting too emotionally involved, given her history. Whether or not she will be able to fix her relationship with her friends remains to be seen. The midseason premiere had plenty more story to tell, with Lucas and Jo (Camilla Luddington) surviving the convenience store shooting — though Jo had to undergo a procedure to keep her pregnancy safe after the trauma. Blue (Harry Shum Jr.) appeared to rekindle things with his ex-fiancée, who resurfaced earlier in the season. Teddy (Kim Raver) and Owen's (Kevin McKidd) faced yet another hurdle, as Owen confessed to developing feelings for his childhood friend Nora (Floriana Lima). 'Grey's Anatomy' airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and streams the next day on Hulu. Grey's Anatomy Returns: Everything You Need to Know Ahead of the Midseason Premiere

By the time that ABC's Grey's Anatomy returns for the back half of Season 21, more than three months will have passed — and without the aid of a time jump, even. So it would be altogether understandable if you were feeling a little foggy about where things left off in the fraught fall finale. Allow us to refresh your memory, why don't you? The 'ancient' history lesson will bring you up to speed on the latest departures, fill on you in on the relationship status of the show's shakiest married couple — yes, as always, Owen and Teddy — tee up the cliffhanger that left two doctors' lives in jeopardy and even offer a sneak peek of what to expect in the upcoming 'Hit the Floor' episode. So what are you waiting for? No need to scrub in, just go ahead and get scrolling, stat. And when you reach the end of the article, that's your cue to begin commenting with your predictions for the midseason premiere. When last we visited Grey Sloan, a heatwave had descended on Seattle. Ben, tasked with handling E.R. overflow, made a decision that left two of his colleagues in grave danger. Which two? Read on. Ben sent Wilson and Adams to a nearby convenience store to pick up ice with which they could cool down patients. But as luck would have it — bad luck — they were involved in a robbery that made it look as if Lucas had been shot. Needless to say, Simone is going to be beside herself with worry for Lucas. Not long before the series took its winter break, the two of them had dropped the L word on one another. Previews for the midseason premiere feature Jo being wheeled into the hospital in distress. But the show wouldn't really kill her and Link's unborn twins… would it? Grieving the loss of her sister, Mika turned to Jules for sexual healing. Yasuda couldn't shake the feeling that Chloe was all around, though, and ultimately quit the hospital, leaving her would-be girlfriend high and dry. With all signs pointing to Catherine's condition deteriorating, she swore Meredith (and then Bailey) to secrecy about her treatment. So when Richard found out he'd been kept in the dark, the only color he saw was red. We were shocked that Mer actually managed not to spill the beans about Catherine. And though Richard was ticked, the move did get all of Grey's friends rehired after Catherine's firing spree. Maggie's ex got a pass from Skye, a woman he'd ghosted — provided he and Amelia saved her daughter, Jackie. But as the fall finale concluded, the patient was left without a heartbeat. Out of nowhere, Blue's amnesiac ex-fiancée Molly showed up at the hospital and revealed that her boyfriend has proposed. We're thinking the answer's ultimately gonna be no, considering Blue and Molly wound up kissing. Though Cass cleared the air with Owen after her and Teddy's kiss, he was so unnerved by the women's friendship that we sure suspected he was gonna give childhood friend Nora more than a lift when they left together. In the episode prior to the midseason finale, the erstwhile Glasses left for a new job in Texas with new boyfriend James in tow. Levi did, however, promise Jo that he'd be back for the birth of his godbabies. The docs like each other, and we all expect them to get together, but as of the fall finale, they hadn't so much as kissed. Maybe we're shipping a couple that's never gonna be one? What do you think? Grey's Anatomy Sneak Peek: It's Tears for Fears in Your First Look at the Midseason Premiere

First-look photos that ABC dropped ahead of Grey's Anatomy's midseason premiere (Thursday, March 6, at 10/9c) tease exceedingly tense times at Grey Sloan. Picking up where the action left off in November's 'Drop It Like It's Hot' (recapped here), 'Hit the Floor' wheels into the emergency room both Lucas and an expectant Jo, whose excursion to pick up ice turned out to be much more than a mere field trip. 'The aftermath of the convenience-store shooting brings chaos to [the hospital],' reads the episode's official logline. In other developments, 'Ben hits a wall with his new emergency preparedness plan. Romantic tensions surface for Owen, while Amelia and Winston disagree over the surgical plan for a young patient.' More from TVLine MSNBC Removes Joy Reid and Alex Wagner From Lineup - Who Is Replacing Them? Peter Jason, Deadwood Actor, Dead at 80 - Read Tributes From Castmates Suits LA First Look: Arrowverse Alums Matt Letscher and Stephen Amell Are Troubled Father and Son (Exclusive) All of which is anxiety-inducing enough. But the teaser doesn't even mention the fact that Jules is still reeling from Mika's exit, Winston and Amelia have just lost Skye's daughter Jackie, and the last we saw of Owen, he looked like he was about to let paranoia over Teddy and Cass' friendship put him to bed with childhood friend Nora. Take a look at the images below and make of them what you will. Is Lucas destined to break Simone's heart and follow his Uncle Derek into the afterlife? Will Jo lose her and Link's baby? If we were Teddy, we'd be wondering where our husband is, too. In the midseason finale, Owen's suspicions about his better half and new doc Cass prompted him to give a clearly besotted Nora a lift. A preview for 'Hit the Floor' revealed that Blue is concerned about ex-lover Jules following Mika's abrupt departure. But she doesn't want to talk about it and says only that she still has a job to do. Since Ben is smiling, we're going to go out on a limb and guess that he doesn't yet know that Lucas and Jo were involved in a shootout while making the ice run on which he sent them. If there's still a reason to pray, does that mean that we can hold onto a sliver of hope that maybe Winston is able to resuscitate Skye's daughter Jackie after all? If any dynamic duo is going to be able to pull off the kind of miracle that Jackie needs to pull through, much less achieve her hoop dreams, it's these two. When Amelia and Winston disagree about the way forward, there's only one way to resolve the dispute. Of course, Blue being asked to weigh in on a dispute between Amelia and Winston is akin to his being instructed to choose a favorite between Mommy and Daddy. Please don't let Jules be telling Richard that she wants to follow Mika out the door. Now if Millin wants to drag Yasuda back in through the door, well, that's another matter altogether! Has Jules landed in hot water with Webber? Doing so is, after all, one of the interns' specialties. With the life of his and Jo's baby hanging in the balance, Link sure looks like he could use somebody to talk to. Thankfully, Bailey comes along to offer Link some wise words: He needs to get a grip so that if Jo needs to, she can fall apart. Having lost a child herself, Bailey is painfully aware of what Jo may be going through — and how much she'll need Link to be strong for her. Though Amelia seems pleased with an outcome, Simone doesn't. Maybe she's having a hard time believing that Amelia was able to keep her nephew alive?
