Festivalgoers have said they felt Boardmasters had improved from last year - including feeling safer.Thousands of people headed to Newquay's Watergate Bay for the surfing and music festival from Wednesday until Sunday, which saw Raye, Central Cee and The Prodigy headlining.Ahead of the event, organisers said they had increased security measures - including more police patrols - in an effort to improve safety, after seven people were hurt during a crowd surge last year. People heading home on Monday said they had noticed the changes, which helped give the event a good vibe.Chief executive Andrew Topham said he was proud of the work done by the event team over the year-round planning process.
Friends Charlie, 19, and Iggy, 18, from London, said they had seen and heard of issues involving anti-social behaviour at the site, including tents being damaged. But they said the organisation felt "so much better" than last year's festival."I thought security was way better this year, especially on Sunday night, which is normally a rough night," Charlie said.Iggy added: "The security was really good and, if it hadn't been there on Sunday night, it could have got a bit crazy."
Ella had travelled from Kent with a group of friends to attend the event and said it felt like the "safest and cleanest" festival she had been too.The 18-year-old said there had been a lot of security around the site and she did not notice any issues such as drink-spiking.She added: "We've had five days of fun and five days of carnage and now I'm going to go home and sleep for three days straight."
Jess and Emily had come to Boardmasters from Guernsey and said they felt security guards did all they could to make everyone feel safe."On the second day at about two in the morning, it felt a bit iffy, but after that it was fine," Jess said.
She added: "There were a few moments where I felt a bit unsafe, but it's not the security's fault as it's hard to manage that many people."Emily added at one point, she and Jess had to do some repairs on their tent after someone got pushed into it, but that was the only issue they had."There was a lot of security and loads on the campsites, but also during the acts as well," she said."They'd come round and give us water at the barricade, which was so nice."Chief executive Mr Topham added: "From the waves at Fistral Beach, to the stages and incredible performances at Watergate Bay, the improvements made and renewed focus on our cultural heritage have been obvious and hugely welcomed."Fistral Beach felt like it did in years gone by."

Boardmasters Festival 2025: ultimate guide to line-up, stage times, full timetable and programme, tickets and dates

Not many music festivals come with their own surfing competition, but that's what makes Boardmasters so special. Set against the gorgeous beaches of Newquay, Cornwall's biggest festival is back for yet another year of beachy vibes and great music. This year you can catch the likes of Raye, the Rizzle Kicks, Central Cee, Nelly Furtado and many, many more on the Cornish shores, and it's set to be a pretty lovely weekend weather-wise too. No 30C heatwaves or tropical thunderstorms are predicted, just regular old sun. If you're about to embark on your journey into England's southernmost county, here's everything you need to know ahead of your visit to Boardmasters festival this year. When is Boardmasters Festival 2025? Boardmasters is back again, taking place from Wednesday August 6 until Sunday August 10. It's split across two different sites: Watergate Bay, which is home to the music and campsites and is the 'most beautiful festival site in the UK' according to the organisers, and Fistral Beach where the surf competition is held. Who are the headliners for Boardmasters 2025? This year Boardmasters has a pretty good mix of headliners. On Friday it's Raye, with the Kaiser Chiefs as the 'afternoon special guests'; on Saturday you can catch Central Cee on the main stage and the Rizzle Kicks in the afternoon; and on Sunday the the Prodigy will close out the festival following a special performance from Natasha Beddingfield. Certain tickets are still available, but weekend camping tickets are sold out. However, there are still weekend and day passes that you can purchase, but you'll have to find somewhere else to stay. Alternatively, book a day entry + return coach package which will take you home after the music's done. You can get those here. If your heart is still set on camping, and you're willing to pay a hefty price for it, there are still VIP camping passes up for grabs, which you can buy here. How to get to Boardmasters Festival Cornwall is not the easiest place to get to from pretty much anywhere else in the country, but you have a few different transport options. Train The nearest train station is Newquay, and there will be a shuttle service between the station and the festival ground available for £10. You will likely need to transfer trains at some point on your journey, so be aware of that. Shuttle bus The shuttle bus service is only £10, and gets you an unlimited pass for the weekend so you can make as many journeys to and from the campsite as you like. It runs between the Fistral and Watergate sites via Newquay train station and runs all day, and into the early hours of the morning. Coach If you've booked a coach with Big Green Coach, the festival's partner, you'll get dropped off right at the grounds. There are still a few coach tickets available from certain cities across the UK – you can have a look and get your last minute tickets here. Plane If you're flying in to Newquay, the easiest way to get to the venue is by taxi. It's a very short journey, and will take you right to the campsite entrance. Car and parking There is onsite parking available for anyone driving down. It's sold out now, but if you did manage to book parking, follow the green route as you get near Newquay. It will guide you to where you need to go. Are there any banned items? To ensure the festival goes ahead smoothly, there's a few things you're not allowed to bring with you. Here's a complete list of the banned items for Boardmasters: Animals (expect assistance dogs) Aerosols (excluding suncream and deodorant. Liquid suncream and roll-on deodorant are permitted) Bladed items, including multi tools Candles or sky lanterns Anything that could be reasonably considered for use as a weapon Campfires Drones or remote controlled flying devices Fireworks, flares, smoke bombs or smoke machines Food into the main arena (sealed food can be brought into the campsite). If you have a medical condition which requires you to carry food on you for personal consumption, please bring a medical letter or doctor's note including details of your requirements as you will be asked to present this. Gas canisters or cylinders (except built into campervans) Generators (expect those built into campervans) Glass bottles (excluding perfume bottles 50ml and under into the campsites) High-vis jackets or unofficial tabards Illegal substances (psychoactive substances, nitrous oxide or legal highs) Laser equipment / pointer pens Spray paint Professional camera or video recording equipment (including SLRs and anything with a detachable lens) Spirits (alcohol) Sound systems exceeding the following size specifications (H: 184mm x D: 73mm e.g. BOOM3, please note, if on a Day Ticket no sound systems are permitted) Single-use plastic Portable or disposable barbeques, gas, paraffin lamps, or fire / gas-related cooking equipment Megaphones, air horns, or compressed air You are allowed to bring your own drinks, but make sure it's not in a glass bottle as these will be confiscated. Weather forecast Although things are cloudy right now (Wednesday August 6), by the weekend they're due to pick up. Here's the day-by-day forecast. Thursday August 7 will be pretty cloudy, with some light showers earlier in the day which dry up by around 5pm. Friday August 8 is set to be nice and dry, with sunny spells and highs of 20C. Ex-Celtic star Charlie Mulgrew enjoys Oasis Murrayfield show

The former Hoops defender managed to Slide Away to Edinburgh to catch the Gallagher brothers perform as part of their Live'25 reunion tour. Posing with his wife, Alana, Charlie beamed from the stadium's seats as he said the band were "different class." Poking fun at himself, he also said: "Don't know how I got my head into @ bucket hat, but what a night." The cheeky response was met with good humour by Charlie, who admitted: "There are a few pics where it looks like a witch's hat." Charlie recently predicted that Rangers will close the gap on Celtic, who are not in "brilliant shape." He's a fan of the way new Gers boss Russell Martin wants to play football and thinks "it'll be a lot tighter than it's been" in the league. It comes as a swathe of stars have attended the sought-after gigs, many of them donning their Celtic tops as part of their concert outfits. We reported that Noel Gallagher's daughter wore a Celtic top as she watched her dad perform at Edinburgh's Murrayfield. Anais Gallagher, who is Noel's daughter with Meg Mathews, shared a picture on her Instagram story of her wearing a Celtic zip-up in the audience. We also reported that Gene Gallagher, Liam Gallagher's son, was spotted wearing a Hoops jersey at Saturday's show. In a picture shared on Instagram by the 24-year-old, he could be seen showing his support for the Glasgow side while rocking a smart pair of sunglasses and an Oasis lanyard.
