Billie Eilish Returns To No. 1 After A Competitor Forced Her From The Summit
'Birds of a Feather' holds strong at the top of several genre-specific lists, while the full-length on which the track appears, Hit Me Hard and Soft, returns to the summit on multiple rankings, underlining yet again its status as one of the most popular alternative and rock releases in recent memory.
Last week, the collection slipped to No. 2 on both the Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Top Alternative Albums charts, but it didn't stay there for long. Eilish's bestselling set is now back at No. 1 on both lists.
These two Billboard rankings highlight the most-consumed projects in their respective genres, combining sales and streaming data to determine which rock and alternative titles are resonating in the U.S.
Hit Me Hard and Soft has now spent the most time at No. 1 on the Top Alternative Albums chart, which makes sense given that the roster is slightly less competitive than its companion tally. Out of the 49 frames the project has appeared on the roster, it has ruled for 43.
The same Grammy-nominated effort has also racked up 39 weeks atop the Top Rock & Alternative Albums ranking, out of the same number of appearances on the 50-position tally.
Meanwhile, last week's champion, Sable, Fable by Bon Iver, experiences a steep decline on the two tallies. Though it launched at No. 1 on the two genre-specific charts, it hasn't been able to maintain its momentum. In its second frame on the rosters, the effort plummets to No. 19 on the Top Alternative Albums list and No. 32 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums ranking.
As it rebounds to No. 1 on the aforementioned charts, Hit Me Hard and Soft also climbs on three additional tallies. It reenters the top 10 on the Top Album Sales chart, soaring from No. 38 to No. 10 with 4,400 copies sold, according to Luminate.
The project also nears that uppermost tier on both the Top Streaming Albums chart and Billboard 200, pushing to Nos. 12 and 14, respectively.
Eilish even manages to reappear on yet another list, as Hit Me Hard and Soft makes a home on half a dozen tallies this frame. The set is back on the Vinyl Albums chart once more. The former champion reenters the wax-only space at No. 10. While it has spent 49 weeks on each of the other charts it currently finds space on, it has missed just one frame on the Vinyl Albums list.

Morgan Wallen Is Making Sure He Won't Get Any Grammy Nominations by Not Submitting
Morgan Wallen is ensuring his streak of never receiving a solo Grammy nomination continues by declining to submit his latest album, I'm the Problem, for consideration. Wallen's team confirmed the news to Rolling Stone, after it was first reported by Hits Daily Double and Billboard. Not only will Wallen not submit I'm the Problem — which has spent 11 weeks so far at Number One on the Billboard 200 — in any of the album categories, he also won't submit individual recordings in categories like Record of the Year or Best Country Solo Performance. More from Rolling Stone Morgan Wallen Taps Lil Wayne and Rick Ross for 'Miami' Remix Travis Scott's 'Jackboys 2' Tops Albums Chart Grammys Introduce New Country Album Category, Best New Artist Rules for 2026 Additionally, Wallen won't seek songwriting nominations for any of the tracks he co-wrote on I'm the Problem. But as Billboard notes, Wallen's team won't stop any of the songwriters he worked with from putting up their work for consideration. Wallen isn't the first major artist to decline to submit their music to the Grammys. Most recently, Drake, the Weeknd, and Frank Ocean have rebuffed the institution, criticizing the nominations committees and voting body for being disconnected from what's actually popular and meaningful to contemporary audiences, especially in their worlds of hip-hop and R&B. After he declined to submit Blonde, Ocean said in a 2016 interview that the Grammys don't 'seem to be representing very well for people who come from where I come from, and hold down what I hold down.' He added: 'I think the infrastructure of the awarding system and the nomination system and screening system is dated. I'd rather this be my Colin Kaepernick moment for the Grammys than sit there in the audience.' (The Recording Academy has taken some steps in recent years to diversify its voters and nominees, and add some transparency to its nominations process. Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. noted these efforts at the 67th Grammys in February before introducing a beef-squashing performance from the Weeknd.) Unlike Wallen, however, Drake, the Weeknd, and Ocean staged their protests as multiple Grammy winners. (Though, potentially bolstering their critiques, all their victories were in genre categories, as opposed to the general fields of Song, Record, and Album of the Year, or Best New Artist.) Wallen has been nominated at the Grammys just twice, and both times as a featured artist on Post Malone's 'I Had Some Help.' Kid Rock Goes ‘Nutz' Over California Gov. Gavin Newsom's Fake Endorsement Poster
California Gov. Gavin Newsom has been on an all-caps roll lately trolling the Trump White House. In a series of cap-locked Truth Social-like screeds, Newsom's press office account has expertly approximated the shouting out the window tone of many of Donald Trump's social missives while taking aim at the President, his administration members and Fox News supporters in satirical screeds on X. But over the weekend Newsom appeared to cross a line when he brought vocal Trump pal Kid Rock into the fray. In a clearly Photoshopped poster mimicking the iconic Uncle Sam Wants You WWI Army recruitment posters, Newsom's team threw up an image of Rock in a red, white and blue top hat and matching suit in front of the American flag with the message 'Kid Rock Wants You to Support Gavin Newsom.' More from Billboard Jack White Rips Donald Trump's 'Vulgar, Gold-Leafed and Gaudy' White House Makeover, Comparing it To 'Wrestler's Dressing Room' Judas Priest's Rob Halford Said He Was 'Curled Up in a Ball' Weeping in Reaction to Ozzy Osbourne's Death Australian Country Star Troy Cassar-Daley Saluted With Excellence In The Community Award Extending the clearly fake endorsement, Newsom's personal account added 'Thanks, @KidRock!!,' in seeming appreciation of the unexpected endorsement from the rocker-turned-country-singer who labeled Trump an 'American Badass' in an interview in January. As you might expect, Rock, 54, didn't love it. In a response post, the 'Don't Tell Me How to Live' singer wrote, 'The only support Gavin Newscum will ever get out of me is from DEEZ NUTZ,' repurposing one of Trump's pet nicknames for the California politician. Newsom went all-in this week on his challenge to Trump's call for off-cycle redistricting in Texas to hold on to Republican's slim House next year by asking Californians to vote on redistricting in the Golden State. The Rock AI post appeared to be a call-back to a Trump post from last year in which the former reality TV star shared a clearly cooked-up images of Taylor Swift falsely claiming that the singer had endorsed him. Trump has since repeatedly said he 'hates' Swift, recently lashing out at the world's biggest pop star by claiming that he 'can't stand her (HATE!)' and that she is 'NO LONGER HOT.' Newsom didn't miss that opportunity to troll either, with the Governor's press office writing on Tuesday (Aug. 19), 'I HATE KID ROCK !!!'
