The upper portion of one of the two swords installed with the statue was broken, which triggered anger among residents.
Police acted swiftly and reviewed CCTV footage from the area.
The broken sword was repaired within three hours of the incident. Residents alleged that anti-social elements deliberately damaged the statue with the intention of theft and demanded stern action against the culprits.
The renovated statue was inaugurated by CM Yogi Adityanath on May 9 to mark Maharana Pratap Jayanti.
"A non-cognizable report has been lodged against unidentified people. The incident is being taken seriously, and the offenders will be arrested soon. Additional teams have been deployed to scan CCTV footage," ACP, Hazratganj, Vikas Jaiswal said.

He said that the state's transformation from being "a hub of mafias and communal violence" to an "Utsav Pradesh" marked by discipline and peace is a testament to sustained governance and strong policing. CM Yogi was addressing a public gathering during the inauguration of an 11-storey barrack tower and a 30-bed hospital at the 26th Battalion of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) in Gorakhpur. "Eight years ago, Uttar Pradesh was known as a riot-prone state. Youths from UP were not even given accommodation outside the state due to the state's notorious image. Today, the same youth are respected everywhere," said Yogi. He asserted that UP has set a benchmark in policing that even outsiders now appreciate and cannot mock. Highlighting the challenges faced earlier, CM Yogi said that UP's police force, despite being responsible for the country's most populous state, operated with massive vacancies and crumbling infrastructure. Before 2017, UP had the capacity to train only 3,000 recruits at once. Today, over 60,000 personnel are undergoing training across 112 centres. He added that massive infrastructure upgrades have been undertaken in all police stations, lines, and PAC units. "In many districts, the tallest building is now a police barrack," he remarked. CM Yogi urged police recruits to value training, stating, "The more you sweat in training, the less blood you shed in the field." He advised them to focus on learning modern legal frameworks, cybercrime, digital arrests, and women safety under Mission Shakti.
