Young seizes five-stroke lead at PGA Wyndham Championship
CAMERON YOUNG FIRED a five-under par 65 to grab a five-stroke lead after Saturday's third round of the US PGA Tour Wyndham Championship. Meanwhile, Waterford's Seamus Power is tied 36th on five-under. Young, the 28-year-old American seeks his first PGA title after seven runner-up finishes, including the 2022 British Open at St. Andrews. Young made six birdies, four in a row early in the round, and a bogey to finish on 20-under 190 after 54 holes at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. Advertisement 'Just played some really nice golf there for about an hour,' Young said. 'Had some opportunities on the back nine, too, just didn't make as many putts. Kind of cruised along with hitting some average shots through the middle of the round and nice to finish up the way I did.' Colombian Nico Echavarria was second on 195 after shooting 64 with defending champion Aaron Rai of England and Americans Mac Meissner and Chris Kirk sharing third on 198. No player in more than three years has lost after leading by five or more strokes entering the final round of a PGA Tour event. World number 44 Young finished off a bogey-free eight-under par 62 in the morning completion of Friday's lightning-halted second round to claim a three-stroke lead. In round three, Young reeled off four consecutive birdies early and opened an eight-stroke edge on the field through eight holes. Young made an eight-footer to birdie the par-three third, rolled in another from just beyond 32 feet at the fourth, reached the green in two at the par-five fifth and two-putted from 21 feet for birdie and sank a 15-foot birdie putt at the sixth. Young made a bogey at 14, finding a left bunker off the tee and needing three to reach the green, but answered with a tap-in birdie at the par-five 15th, his third shot landing inches from the hole, and also curled in a birdie putt from just outside 10 feet at the 17th. Sunday's final round marks the end of the PGA regular-season with the top 70 golfers in points advancing to the playoffs. ©AFP

Neonatal nurse, 26, ‘filmed herself abusing babies in French hospital and sent sick videos to her boyfriend'
The shocking alleged crimes were brought into the spotlight after videos circulated on TikTok TWISTED MIND Neonatal nurse, 26, 'filmed herself abusing babies in French hospital and sent sick videos to her boyfriend' A NURSE has been charged with child abuse in France after sharing horrifying videos of herself abusing infants with her boyfriend. The 26-year-old neonatal nurse is accused of abusing the babies at the André Grégoire Hospital in the Parisian suburb of Montreuil. 2 Hospital management added that worried mothers had been calling the facility Credit: AFP 2 Protesters are pictured gathering at the hospital following the shocking news Credit: The case that shocked France has sparked outrage in Paris, with protesters storming into the hospital. The woman has been charged with suspected sexual assault on minors and distribution of child abuse images. Meanwhile, her partner has been charged with complicity in the sexual instigation of minors. The nurse reportedly showed up at a police station to confess after several videos appeared on TikTok warning of "a scandal in a hospital in the 93rd arrondissement". She also accused her 28-year-old boyfriend of involvement when she went to the cops earlier this week. The couple allegedly shared the clips of the horrifying crimes with each other. But these videos got leaked onto social media, bringing the appalling acts into the spotlight. Videos began circulating on TikTok claiming "two people who work with infants" were mistreating infants. After these videos went viral online, the nurse reportedly went to the police to report the shocking crimes. The appalling acts are said to have taken place in December 2024 and January 2025. And these clips have viscerally angered many people in France, with protesters making their way to the hospital on Saturday. Furious demonstrators entered the premises and demanded an interview with management, Actu Paris has reported. Families were among those who protested at the hospital. But the demonstrators were peacefully evacuated from the building without their request being granted. Two victims have reportedly been identified following analysis of the videos. The nurse, who has since been suspended from her role, reportedly indicated to cops that she had filmed the abuse and sent it to her partner. Both suspects have appeared before court since being taken into police custody. They have been placed under judicial supervision, despite the prosecution requesting pre-trial detention. An investigation into the events is ongoing. The Grand Paris Nord-Est territorial hospital group said on Friday that "this nurse worked exclusively in the neonatal intensive care unit of the Montreuil hospital", Le Monde has reported. Hospital management added that worried mothers had been calling the facility "even though they had sometimes given birth there a year ago". They said: "The actions of this nurse, if confirmed by the ongoing police investigation, are a serious personal error that the hospital strongly condemns. "They are in no way a collective service practice." The nurse was suspended as a "precautionary measure" pending the investigation. According to the Bobigny prosecutor's office, the appalling acts would have taken place in December 2024 and January 2025. While there had been speculation of a racial dimension to the alleged crime, this has been denied by the prosecutor's office. "There is no racial element in the act," they said.

Ukrainian drones spark fire at Sochi oil depot
An overnight Ukrainian drone attack sparked a fire at an oil depot in Sochi, the Russian resort that hosted the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, around 400km from the Ukrainian border, authorities have said. Ukraine has regularly hit Russian oil and gas infrastructure in response to attacks on its own territory since Russia began its offensive in February 2022. "Sochi suffered a drone attack by the Kyiv regime last night," the governor of Russia's Krasnodar region, Veniamin Kondratiev, said on Telegram. He said drone wreckage hit an "oil tank, which caused a fire". Sochi's mayor, Andrei Proshunin, said there were no victims and that "the situation is totally under control", adding that firefighters were continuing to extinguish the blaze. Images, broadcast by Russian media but whose authenticity AFP could not verify, showed flames and a thick plumes of black smoke rising from the site. Air traffic was briefly suspended at Sochi airport but resumed shortly afterward, Russia's air transport regulator Rosaviatsia said. Ukraine authorities had not commented on the fire. Air strikes on Sochi are relatively rare compared to some other Russian cities. However, Ukrainian drone attacks killed two people there late last month, according to local authorities. Russian strikes Ukraine has said it will intensify its air strikes against Russia in response to an increase in Russian attacks on its territory in recent weeks, which have killed dozens of civilians. The Russian defence ministry said meanwhile that three Ukrainian drones had been intercepted in the Leningrad region, which includes the Baltic seaport of Saint Petersburg. Overnight strikes by Russia inside Ukraine's south and north also left several people injured, authorities said. One missile wounded seven people in a residential district of Mykolaiv, a city near the Black Sea in southern Ukraine, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said. Three other people were injured in the northeastern Kharkiv region, she added, while local authorities also reported injuries in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions in the south. "The Russians continue to wage war not against Ukrainian forces, but against Ukrainian civilians," Svyrydenko said. Last week, US President Donald Trump gave his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin a ten-day ultimatum, until next Friday, to end the conflict in Ukraine. The air strikes and fighting have not abated, however, and the Kremlin has rejected the idea of a lasting ceasefire in Ukraine, which it sees as a gift to Kyiv's troops. Ukraine uncovers major drone procurement corruption scheme Separately, Ukraine's anti-corruption bodies said last night they had uncovered a major graft scheme that procured military drones and signal jamming systems at inflated prices, two days after the agencies' independence was restored following major protests. The independence of Ukraine's anti-graft investigators and prosecutors, NABU and SAPO, was reinstated by parliament on Thursday after a move to take it away resulted in the country's biggest demonstrations since Russia's invasion in 2022. In a statement published by both agencies on social media, NABU and SAPO said they had caught a sitting lawmaker, two local officials and an unspecified number of national guard personnel taking bribes. None of them were identified in the statement. "The essence of the scheme was to conclude state contracts with supplier companies at deliberately inflated prices," it said, adding that the offenders had received kickbacks of up to 30% of a contract's cost. Four people had been arrested. "There can only be zero tolerance for corruption, clear teamwork to expose corruption and, as a result, a just sentence," Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on Telegram.
