AIIMS in Raichur
, however, the Centre did not respond to them.
All opposition leaders, led by chief minister Siddaramaiah, appealed to

About the shortage of medicine at
Karnataka Medical College and Research Institute
(KMC-RI), Patil said there is no shortage of medicines in any govt hospital in the state. A meeting was held in Belgavi, and instructions were given to ensure that there is no shortage of medicines. He said KMC-RI is providing the best treatment for cancer patients. The patients are getting chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and the new one added is brachytherapy, Patil said.

TN seeks retention of in-service quota for super-specialty in Round 2
Chennai: Health Minister Ma Subramanian sought the intervention of Union health minister J P Nadda to ensure that all 50% of seats earmarked for in-service candidates under the state quota are retained and made available in Round 2 of state-level NEET super-specialty counselling. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The first round of counselling for admission to super-specialty courses such as cardiology, nephrology, neurology, urology, cardiac, and vascular surgery, conducted by the medical counselling committee under the directorate general of health services (DGHS), ended on May 27. As per the Supreme Court order, Tamil Nadu reserved 50% of seats in these courses in govt medical colleges of the state exclusively for govt doctors (in-service candidates). While only 30% of candidates took the seats allotted to them, more than 70% of the 215 seats were vacant, officials said. While the state does not have adequate candiates qualified to join the course, officials said the Centre must consider in-service candidates if and when they reduce percentile scores in the subsequent rounds. On May 29, the state selection committee formally requested DGHS to indicate the dates for the second round of counselling to allow the upgradation of seats for in-service candidates. "However, it has come to our notice that the process of surrendering the unfilled in-service seats to the All-India Quota is being considered, without conducting the mandatory second round of counselling at the state level. Such a move would effectively deprive our in-service candidates of their rightful opportunity to upgrade or participate in further counselling and would be contrary to the spirit and intent of the Supreme Court's order," Subramanian wrote. He urged Nadda's intervention to ensure that all 50% of seats earmarked for in-service candidates under the state quota are retained and made available in Round 2 of counselling.

‘Avoid rath yatra if you have Covid symptoms'
Gandhinagar: While urging people to take precautions against Covid-19, state health minister Rushikesh Patel on Wednesday advised those with Covid-like symptoms and those with co-morbidities to refrain from participating in Lord Jagannath's rath yatra on June 27. "People who have symptoms like those of Covid-19 must refrain from participating in the rath yatra. Also, people with co-morbidities, the elderly, and those who have flu-like symptoms must remain in their houses and watch the rath yatra," Patel said while talking to reporters in Gandhinagar on Wednesday. He added that this will ensure that people who have symptoms will not transmit it to others, and co-morbid people will also not be exposed to infections. Meanwhile, after participating in the jal yatra in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, minister of state for home Harsh Sanghavi said that the rath yatra is a centre of devotion for lakhs of people. "Preparations are being made for the rath yatra to be held on June 27. It is the biggest procession from the perspectives of both devotion and administration," the minister said. With more than 1,200 active Covid-19 cases in Gujarat at present, Patel said that although the variant responsible for the surge is less severe than previous ones, people need to take precautions and isolate themselves if symptoms emerge. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo "We are in touch with the Union health ministry. NMC proposes 3-year rotatory headship for departments in medical colleges
New Delhi, The National Medical Commission has proposed introducing three-year rotatory headship for departments in medical colleges among eligible faculty members who qualify for promotion based on seniority and possession of a postgraduate medical degree. Suggesting draft amendments to the Postgraduate Medical Education Regulations 2023, the NMC has also proposed including MS as a feeder broad specialty qualification for several super-specialty courses, such as MCh in Neurosurgery, MCh in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and other MCh programmes. The draft amendments have been published in the official gazette on May 30 and the NMC has invited feedback from stakeholders such as from students, faculty, and the medical community on the changes. Under the existing 2023 regulations, each department is led by a professor appointed as the head of department . "The post of the Head of Department will be rotated every three-years amongst professors and associate professors who hold medical postgraduate degree, based on seniority in the department," the NMC said in the proposal. This proposal comes amid demands from faculty associations of several medical colleges and academic bodies for more equitable administrative structures. This move aims to bring in fairness and provide opportunities for younger and qualified faculty to take on leadership roles. In April, the Faculty Association of AIIMS , Delhi, and the Faculty Association of PGI Chandigarh had jointly expressed deep concern over the continued delay in implementing the long-standing policy of rotatory headship in these premier institutions. A General Body Meeting of FAIMS was held on April 16 followed by the General Body Meeting of the PGI Chandigarh Faculty Association on April 17. "Both the bodies unanimously voiced that the rotatory headship system, along with the collegium system, is essential for promoting a fair, transparent, and democratic governance structure within their institutions," the two bodies had said in a joint statement. In 2023, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare formally communicated that the rotatory headship policy would be implemented in AIIMS, Delhi and PGI Chandigarh from June 2024. Despite this, no tangible steps have been taken towards its enforcement, even after the lapse of almost a year and repeated representations by faculty bodies, the joint statement had said. The regulations, if approved, will be called the 'Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations , 2025'.
