He was speaking after taking part in the Vriksharopan Maha Abhiyan-2025 in Sugamou forest area (Kukrail) of Avadh Forest Division.
Pathak said crores of saplings have been planted in the state from 2017 to 2024 which has led to a historic increase in green cover.
This achievement is recorded in the report of the Indian Forest Survey, he said.
"Today's target to plant 37 crore saplings in a single day in the state is not only a number but also a symbol of our collective willpower and commitment to the environment," Pathak said.
On the occasion, he feted children who took part in a painting exhibition at the venue. He appealed to the children to spread environmental awareness in their school, colony, street and locality.
He also presented a plant to each child along with a Green Gold certificate and appealed to everyone to take care of them.
MLCs Mahendra Singh, Mukesh Sharma, Ramchandra Pradhan, Umesh Dwivedi, MLA OP Srivastava, DM Visakh G, chief development officer Ajay Jain, district forest officer Sitashu Pandey and other dignitaries attended the programme.
