Country progressed in every field: Sand artist Pattnaik hails PM Modi's leadership
Puri: The NDA government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, completed 11 years in office on Monday. Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik expressed happiness on the completion of the first year of the government's third term and conveyed his feelings through his art. He described PM Modi's tenure as wonderful and expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister.
Speaking to IANS, Sudarsan Pattnaik said, 'The country has progressed significantly under the leadership of the Prime Minister. From the 'Swachh Bharat Mission' to respect for artists, many areas that were previously neglected have now received proper attention. PM Modi boosts the morale of artists through the 'Mann Ki Baat' programme.'
He further added that PM Modi promotes the country's culture, civilisation, and sports. Referring to the BRICS conference held in Goa, Pattnaik said, 'PM Modi enhanced my prestige by presenting my art before representatives from all member countries.'
He further remarked that PM Modi uplifts the morale of every artist across the country, whether from the cities or villages.
He also highlighted the strengthening of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector over recent years. He noted that schemes like 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' have given new direction and momentum to small businesses. According to him, India is now progressing rapidly towards becoming a developed country by 2047.
Speaking on India's international image, Pattnaik said, 'Today, the respect for India's passport has increased, the number of medals won by Indians has grown, and the country's image as a strong nation has been firmly established worldwide.'
He cited 'Operation Sindoor' as an example, where India demonstrated to the world that it does not just talk but also takes decisive action when necessary. Pattnaik further noted that in the past 11 years, India has delivered a strong response to Pakistan, emphasising that India no longer tolerates terrorism.
These comments by Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik reflect the sentiments of millions of artists and common citizens who feel inspired by the policies and vision of PM Modi.
Earlier on Monday, PM Modi posted on his social media platform X, saying, 'A clear focus on good governance and transformation! Powered by the blessings and collective participation of 140 crore Indians, India has witnessed rapid transformations across diverse sectors. Guided by the principle of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas,' the NDA government has delivered pathbreaking changes with speed, scale, and sensitivity.
"From economic growth to social uplift, the focus has been on people-centric, inclusive, and all-round progress. NEW DELHI: While the Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) on Monday lauded 11 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government, describing it as a period marked by a "remarkable transformation" in Indian politics, the opposition parties sharply criticised the Centre shortcomings across multiple key areas, accusing it of failing to deliver on several important fronts. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi latched on the Mumbai railway accident to attack the government and accused it of "selling dreams of 2047." "11 years of Modi government = no accountability, no change, only propaganda. The government has stopped talking about 2025 and is now selling dreams of 2047. Who will see what the country is facing today?" Rahul wrote on X. He added in another post: "The 11 years of the Modi government have been full of humiliation, violence, and discrimination against Dalits, Adivasis, backward classes, and minorities. The conspiracy to institutionally make them second-class citizens and keep them away from the mainstream is continuing." 'Wasted 11 years rubbing the ink of dictatorship' Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge claimed that the "Modi government has wasted the last 11 years rubbing the ink of dictatorship on every page of the Constitution." "In the last 11 years, the Modi government has caused severe damage to Indian democracy, the economy, and the social fabric," Kharge said. "BJP-RSS weakened every constitutional institution and attacked their autonomy—whether by stealing public opinion and toppling governments through the back door or by forcibly imposing one-party rule. During this period, the rights of the states were ignored and the federal structure was weakened. There have been continuous efforts to spread hatred, threats, and fear in society. '11 Saal, Jhoothe Vikas ke Vaade' Congress also presented a report card of PM Modi's tenure by releasing two sets of documents to "expose the BJP's broken promises." At a press conference, AICC research department head Rajeev Gowda, who prepared the booklet, alleged, "This government is very good at fake news and propaganda. It is our job as the Opposition to let people know the grim reality." The booklet 'Ek Aur Baar Jumla Sarkar ', he said, focuses on promises made by the BJP in its 2024 manifesto. The second, '11 Saal Jhoothe Vikas Ke Vaade'*, is a "detailed exposé" of the BJP's hollow claims. "In the 11-Saal document, one of the first themes they (BJP) highlight is care for the poor and marginalised. They boast that 81 crore people are getting free food grains under PMGKAY. But the basic problem of hunger is a much larger crisis in India, which ranks 105th out of 127 countries on the World Hunger Index. "Its implications: malnutrition is affecting our children terribly. Stunting is at 35.5%, wasting at 19.3%, and underweight children at 32.1%," Gowda said. Congress also accused PM Modi of failing to protect the country, claiming that "52 terrorist attacks" had occurred in the last year. "In one year of the Modi government: 52 terrorist attacks; 36 soldiers martyred; 53 soldiers injured; 56 civilians killed; 82 civilians injured," the party stated. "Narendra Modi has failed in protecting the country," it added. 'People of the BJP are working against each other' Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also raised questions about the Centre's performance in education, employment, and economic activity. He alleged a lack of coordination between the BJP-led central and Uttar Pradesh governments, citing their ongoing schemes. Speaking to reporters, Yadav said, "There's a phrase in Hindi—'Ek pe ek gyarah' and the other 'Nau Do Gyarah'. This might be their 11 years. If we add 11 years of the Central government and 9 years of the Uttar Pradesh government, that totals 20 years. The government must give an account of these 20 years. What have they done for the people? How far have we progressed in education? How successful have we been in providing employment or attracting investment?" "The people of Uttar Pradesh will analyse this more closely, since the Prime Minister himself is an MP from the state. There is no coordination between Delhi and Lucknow—it's evident in the schemes. If even the adopted villages haven't changed, it raises serious questions. The BJP leaders are working against each other. There are many unanswered questions on both achievements and failures. The people will evaluate. There is large-scale unemployment and inflation in Uttar Pradesh." 'This is Amrit Kaal' In contrast, addressing a press conference in the national capital, BJP president JP Nadda said the past 11 years had seen a decisive shift from politics based on "appeasement" to one driven by "performance, accountability, and responsible governance." 'It should be written in golden letters that under the leadership of PM Shri Narendra Modi, a remarkable transformation has taken place over the past 11 years. PM Modi has reshaped Indian political culture. In the past, politics was driven by appeasement strategies aimed at preserving power. Now, under PM Modi, the focus is on performance, accountability, and responsible governance. This has become the new normal,' Nadda said. Calling the NDA a 'people-led government,' Nadda claimed that the Modi administration had created a forward-looking, transparent, and futuristic model of governance. "Modi government is a people-led government. Over the past years, we have brought transparency and built a future-ready administration. That is why we talk about Viksit Bharat. This is Amrit Kaal. The past 11 years have laid a strong foundation for a truly developed and self-reliant India."

NDA govt completes 11 years, releases report on India's transformation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government marked the completion of its 11 years in office on Monday by unveiling a 176-page 'comprehensive compendium' on India's transformation under the PM's 'visionary leadership' across 14 facets of policymaking, ranging from national security and foreign policy, infrastructure growth, healthcare, women's empowerment and social justice. 'PM Modi has brought the politics of development – Vikasvaad – into the mainstream, making it a focal point around which political discourse and policy action now revolves,' the booklet, released by the government's Press Information Bureau (PIB) on Monday morning, stated. The Modi-led 72-member Union Council of Ministers took oath on 9 June 2024. In the afternoon, addressing a press conference at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s national headquarters in New Delhi, the party's national president J P Nadda, who is also a Union minister, said that proactive governance has been the hallmark of Modi's tenure as prime minister. He said Modi has confronted challenges head-on and taken 'bold decisions' earlier thought impossible, such as the 'abrogation of Article 370', the 2016 surgical strikes, the Balakot air strike and Operation Sindoor of 2025. Nadda listed the banning of triple talaq, the Citizenship Amendment Act, demonetisation, one-third reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and legislative assemblies, ending the distinction between plan and non-plan expenditure, advancing the date for tabling the Union Budget from the 'colonial-era' 28 February to 1 February, and merging the rail budget with the Union Budget as other key decisions of the last 11 years. Nadda said demonetisation, where people queued up to withdraw money without complaint despite the Opposition's intense efforts to provoke them, was evidence of the PM's leadership credibility. In the context of the BJP falling short of a majority by 32 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, and for the first time since 2014 having to rely on allies to secure a majority, with Opposition leaders questioning the government's longevity, the BJP chief expressed confidence that the NDA government will complete its tenure and asserted it will last the next full term too. 'Our government is strong. It will last for five years in this term and the next too,' he said. The booklet stated that 'the success of Operation Sindoor demonstrated a new India: resolute, swift and sovereign in action.' It added that a dynamic foreign and national security policy is essential to respond to global opportunities and challenges, and the Modi government has consistently ensured a stable, strong and safe nation. It listed vibrant India-US relations as a foreign policy success, terming it 'Modi's adaptive strategy with the US'. India has emerged as an economic powerhouse, the booklet said, with the government creating a base for 'growthade' through infrastructure expansion, such as the development of National Highways. The government said it has been a votary of cooperative federalism by encouraging states to voluntarily undertake reforms through incentives. It mentioned all-time high GST collections in April 2025. The booklet detailed government measures for the welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and women in schemes such as the Mudra Yojana and PM Awas Yojana (Rural). It said 810 million people continue to receive food security. It also stated there is the 'highest ever representation for SCs, STs and OBCs in the Union Council of Ministers.' Welfare schemes like Mission Poshan have helped improve the sex ratio at birth, now for the first time at 1,020 women per 1,000 men. At his press conference, Nadda said the Indian economy continues to grow amid global challenges, with international bodies such as the World Bank and IMF calling it a bright spot. He said lifting over 250 million people out of poverty has been acknowledged globally. Nadda dismissed Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh's criticism of Modi for not addressing a press conference on the government's anniversary. The Union minister questioned why it was an issue when the ruling party's president had spoken to the media. He also criticised Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi's questioning of the Election Commission and the fairness of Maharashtra assembly polls, describing him as a sore loser who blames the umpire for defeat while claiming credit in victory. The Congress released two booklets on Monday highlighting stagnated growth, rising hunger, and 'unfulfilled promises' of 11 years under Modi. Of 'mission mode DRDO projects', 23 out of 55 are delayed, and the R&D share in our defence budget is only 5.45 per cent,' he added. He also disputed the claim that India was the fastest-growing large economy. 'So, what is happening in this 11th year of your Sarkaar, PM Modi? The response of the private sector reflects this. Is the Indian private sector investing in India? After the bonanza tax cut, nothing has changed. They still lack confidence in economic management to invest,' the Congress leader said. He added that fixed capital formation has dropped to 32.4 per cent, an 11-year low. 'There is another legacy: glaring inequality. The top 1 per cent of people hold 40 per cent of India's wealth, while the bottom 50 per cent have just over 3 per cent,' the former Congress MP said, adding that this is not the economy the country wants.
