Shoppers are rushing to The Reject Shop after spotting a major bargain: authentic Squishmallows for just $6.
The cult-favourite plush toys, which typically retail for $15 or more at department stores, have quietly landed in select Reject Shop locations across the country, prompting a frenzy from fans eager to grab the cuddly creatures on a budget.
'Why pay $15 for Squishmallows when you can get them for $6 at The Reject Shop?' one savvy content creator posted online, alongside footage of a shelf full of the ultra-soft toys.
Squishmallows, known for their marshmallow-like texture and ultra-huggable filling, have developed a massive following among children, teens and even adults.
With hundreds of designs - from frogs and butterflies to food-themed creatures – each Squishmallow comes with a name and backstory, making them collectible as well as comforting.
The toys first surged in popularity on TikTok during lockdowns, with fans filming 'Squish hunts' in-store and showing off growing collections.
Their appeal has often been compared to Jellycat plush toys, another popular brand known for its soft textures and high price point - though Jellycats tend to target a more luxury, boutique audience.
Now, fans are flocking to The Reject Shop to score the budget-friendly toys.
'I got three of them for my girls from Beenleigh Reject Shop,' one mum wrote.
'Honestly a bargain! I might need that frog,' another shopper said.
'I bought six today,' one fan simply admitted.
Others joked about their timing: 'Of course I see this after my Reject Shop closes down.'
The surprise drop appears to include a variety of characters, with many confirming purchases of butterflies, frogs, and cats.
While The Reject Shop hasn't officially confirmed the full range or whether the plushies are a permanent addition, demand is already surging online - and stock is moving fast.
So if you've got a Squishmallow-lover at home (or just need one for yourself), it might be time for a quick dash to your local store.
The The Reject Shop isn't the only Aussie outlet buying into the trend.
Squishmallows were also recently announced as the latest toy addition in McDonald's Australia Happy Meals.
The fast-food giant confirmed in an announcement in May that their signature kid's meal is 'about to get even happier with the launch of Squishmallows Happy Meals'.
In huge news for fans of the toy collectibles, one of the 14 mini plushie characters in the Macca's Happy Meals range will be a world-first exclusive.
The new Squishmallows Squad character set to debut is Halley, the Intergalactic Axolotl.
Among the new collection are also two characters that will only be available in Australia and New Zealand: Avery, the green and brown mallard duck and Theotto, the Cthulhu monster with dragon wings.
Collectors will be hoping to get their hands on all 14 Macca's Happy Meals Squishmallows characters, with some of the classic characters included in the collection set to feature exclusive new expressions.
Among the collection are perennial favourite characters Rossi, the purple cheetah with pink spots and Charles, the winking green pickle with a moustache.
McDonald's Australia Marketing Director of Menu and Brand Amanda Nakad said they were excited to have secured a collaboration with the 'squishable plushies [that] are all the rage right now'.
'This limited-time Happy Meal brings a taste of the viral toy sensation to Macca's, with the first McDonald's Squishmallows Squad,' Amanda said.
'Whether you're joining the hunt to collect them all or just looking for a dose of happiness, there's a Squishmallow for every kind of fan with this new Happy Meal.'
Squishmallows Happy Meals will be available with a choice of 3 or 6-piece chicken mcnuggets, a hamburger, cheeseburger or grilled chicken snack wrap. They're also served with a side of small fries or apple slices and a small drink.
Each of the Macca's Happy Meals Squishmallows will also come with a scannable code to unlock an exclusive digital game featuring the lovable characters.
Like Beanie Babies did decades earlier, Squishmallows attract an enthusiastic community of collectors, particularly since certain exclusive characters are available in limited numbers or sizes.
One of the rarest Squishmallows is Jack the Black Cat, which only has 500 in circulation.
Rare and in-demand Squishmallows attract higher prices and are often re-sold online.
There are numerous social media videos of Squishmallows collectors showcasing their toy haul.
Celebrities like Charli D'Amelio and Lady Gaga are also reportedly amongst those that collect limited edition Squishmallows.

Guess who! Hollywood star featured in 1990s ad before she was famous - as the quirky commercial goes viral

Before red carpets, Oscar nominations and critically acclaimed roles, one of Australia's biggest Hollywood stars was just another young actor trying to make a buck. And one newly unearthed ad from the early 1990s proves exactly that. The now-famous performer was barely recognisable in this quirky commercial for Continental's 'MicroChef Pasta for One' range, which first aired in 1992. Wearing a hot pink blazer over a red turtleneck, the fresh-faced actress appears bored senseless in a geography classroom surrounded by globes and maps, before reluctantly presenting a sad-looking sandwich to the camera. In the next shot, she perks up while holding up the microwave-ready pasta packet with delight, as a narrator sings the praises of the new solo-friendly snack. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The brief ad served up a healthy dose of '90s nostalgia with its punchy colours, cheesy music and classic Australian humour. But it's the then-unknown actress who steals the show with her expressive performance. The star would go on to have a stellar career in film and television, earning international acclaim for her standout roles in both indie hits and Hollywood blockbusters. These days, she's better known for walking red carpets than holding up frozen pasta - but this delightful throwback proves even A-listers have to start somewhere. Can you guess who it is? It's none other than Toni Collette. Fans were stunned by the throwback, which recently resurfaced online, with many taking to social media to share their surprise over the actress' early work. 'She's such a good actress she could almost anything hehe,' one fan wrote. 'I remember the ad – but didn't realise who it was,' another user commented. A third added: 'That's good acting because it looks disgusting!' The ad has since become a viral sensation, with many praising Collette's natural screen presence even in a 30-second commercial. It's not the first time Collette's early career has resurfaced in unexpected ways. She famously got her big break in 1994's Muriel's Wedding, which recently made it's way back into cinemas for the Sydney Film Festival earlier this month. A genuine A-lister, Collette made her name starring in The Sixth Sense, which won her an Oscar nomination. She has also had starring turns in About a Boy and Little Miss Sunshine, to Knives Out. Collette's latest role is in Mickey 17, directed by Bong Joon Ho, whose black-comedy thriller Parasite swept the 2020 Oscars. In March, she was in London to start filming a top-secret project.

Bachelor host Osher Günsberg finally breaks his silence as entire crew moves to new spin-off without him: 'One person lost their job - me'

Osher Günsberg has broken his silence after being cut from the upcoming Golden Bachelor Australia reboot. The beloved TV host, 50, who fronted The Bachelor Australia since its debut in 2013, revealed he was the only team member from The Bachelor franchise not asked to return. Osher said it was 'bittersweet' watching the new version take off at a different network without him. 'When The Bachelor moved networks, one person lost their job. Me,' he told Chattr this week. 'My wife worked on [The Golden Bachelor]. I think Sam's gonna do a cracking job.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The new iteration, The Golden Bachelor Australia, is set to air on Channel Nine in 2025 and will be hosted by media personality Samantha Armytage, marking a major shakeup following Channel 10's decision to axe the original series in 2023. Despite the snub, Osher said he holds no resentment over being left out of the project. 'The 110 other people who make that show, who I have known for ten years, kept working, and that is what matters,' he said. 'These incredibly skilled people are the only ones in the country who know how to make that show. These jobs really need to be protected.' 'In this world where our industry is shrinking, I'm thrilled for them,' he added. 'I know them all and I know their kids - they're all brilliant at what they do.' He continued: 'This is the business I've chosen. If I didn't want to be losing my job, I'd go work in an office. I chose this life, and I know this is a part of it.' The TV personality, who is currently competing on Dancing with the Stars Australia 2025, admitted he saw the writing on the wall years ago as the show's ratings began to slide. Once a ratings juggernaut, The Bachelor Australia has been on a steady decline for years. Its 2021 season premiered to just 224,000 metro viewers - making it the lowest debut ever - down from 309,000 the previous season - a far cry from the 1 million+ who tuned in during the Nick 'Honey Badger' Cummins era in 2018 - and the numbers kept falling throughout the season. Former Sunrise co-anchor Armytage left Channel Seven in late 2024 after 21 years on air, saying the relentless grind had ' become gruelling' and the timing was right to move on. In October 2024, she was officially announced as host of The Golden Bachelor Australia on Channel Nine, expressing excitement about bringing a 'fresh, heartwarming' new spin to Australian screens. Daily Mail Australia revealed that Barry 'Bear' Myrden, a 50‑something infrastructure engineer from Sydney's Northern Beaches will be Australia's first Golden Bachelor after he was spotted filming during March 2025 at heritage homes in Elizabeth Bay. Unlike The Bachelor and The Bachelorette which feature young men and women, the Golden Bachelor is targeted at a more mature audience eager to watch how those who have already experienced great love and loss are chasing companionship in their next chapter. 'Bear is not your usual reality TV type,' an insider told Daily Mail Australia. 'He's charming, intelligent and has really lived a full life. He's been through love, loss and now he's ready to open his heart again. Women are going to adore him.' Local fans of the The Golden Bachelor have been calling for an Australian version since the US version premiered last year to critical acclaim.

Newly single Georgia Love sets tongues wagging as she steps out with male pal at opening night of Hedwig and the Angry Inch in Melbourne after split from husband Lee Elliot

Georgia Love has set tongues wagging after a cosy outing with a male friend on Wednesday night. The newly single Bachelorette star attended the opening night of the musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch in Melbourne alongside pal Gareth Thomson. The pair posed together on the red carpet, cuddling up close as they enjoyed their night out on the town. On Georgia's social media, the one time reality star shared further glimpses of their evening at the theatre, with the two getting close for a selfie in their seats. Afterwards they hit the town, taking a photo together captioned: 'Your mum and dad had a midweek night out and sent a photo as proof.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Gareth is also in showbiz, with his Instagram biography indicating that he was the writer of Schapelle, Schapelle - The Musical based on the life of Schapelle Corby. It comes after news that Georgia and ex-husband Lee Elliot are set to put their marital home in Melbourne under the hammer. The high-profile pair, who first met on the 2016 season of The Bachelorette before announcing their split earlier this year, have listed the spacious Hampton East pad with a price range of $1.5million to $1.58million. Love and Elliot, who announced their split in February, paid an estimated $1.35million for the chic ultra-modern two-storey townhouse in 2021. Love and Elliot flaunted their original purchase of the property back in October 2021 on social media after it was listed for sale between $1.3million and $1.35million. They shared a series of pictures showing them standing in front of their new home, with a 'sold' sign in the background. The news of the sale of the home comes after Love and Elliot, who were married for four years, announced their breakup four months ago. The couple broke the news of their separation with identical posts on Instagram in February. 'After nine wonderful years together, including four as husband and wife, [we] have made the incredibly difficult decision to lovingly part ways,' they wrote. 'Our relationship has been so special and we will always cherish the memories, love, and laughter we've shared. 'There is no drama, no bad blood' the emotional statement continued. 'Just two people who have grown in different directions while still holding deep respect and care for each other. 'We remain friends and we'd really appreciate our privacy as we navigate this next stage. Thank you.' Georgia and Lee had fuelled rumours they had split for some time as it had been more than four months since they were seen together. The pair spent Christmas apart with their respective families before Georgia jetted off to New York City for a holiday without Lee. They were also both spotted without their wedding bands, which led to a wave of speculation online suggesting they had ended their relationship. The pair met and fell in love on the 2016 season of The Bachelorette, which saw Georgia, a former TV news reporter, choose tradie Lee as her winning suitor. They married in 2021 at the Frogmore Creek Winery outside Hobart, followed by an outdoor reception at the Shene Distillery. The lovebirds had been due to marry in Italy the year prior, but were forced to cancel due to Covid travel restrictions. The following year, they moved into their townhouse in Hampton East which is now set to got to auction on June 21.
