Sena (UBT), MNS, prepare for joint July 5 march against 'Hindi imposition'
Uddhav has assigned the task of coordination with the MNS to senior leaders Sanjay Raut, Anil Parab and Varun Sardesai. Mumbai MNS chief Sandeep Deshpande, to conduct the awareness drive, has been travelling in local trains, distributing pamphlets and conveying messages about the morcha. 'I am also meeting a lot of Ganeshostav mandals and Govind mandals and asking them for support,' he said.
The MNS leaders met police officers to get permission for the morcha. 'Nitin Sardesai, Shirish Sawant and deputy chief of Mumbai city Yashwant Killedar met the additional commissioner (South) Abhinav Deshmukh,' said MNS leader Bala Nandgaonkar. 'We were told that allowing a morcha in South Mumbai would amount to contempt of court orders. But if we don't take out a morcha for the sake of Marathi, who will? I am also speaking to leaders of all political parties to make this morcha a big success.'
Uddhav Thackeray himself is handling the mobilisation programme of the Sena (UBT). After participating in the Azad Maidan protest on Sunday afternoon, he will hold a meeting of party office bearers, including shakha pramukhs, to discuss preparations for the July 5 march.
'The Marathi Abhyas Kendra, under Deepak Pawar, has organised a protest and a burning of the GR on compulsory Hindi on Sunday,' said a party official. 'Pawar met Thackeray recently and Thackeray assured him that he would participate in the protest. Along with this, party workers will burn the GR at several places, including Dadar and Bandra. Thackeray has directed all district level leaders to burn the GR in their respective districts.'
Deepak Pawar on Saturday said that along with Thackeray, state Congress president Harshwardhan Sapkal and MNS leader Nitin Sardesai, CPI leader Prakash Reddy and others would also participate in the Marathi Abhyas Kendra protest.
Meanwhile, MP Sanjay Raut expressed hope that the joint march of the Thackeray cousins on July 5 would turn into the beginning of a political alliance. In an interview to a news channel, he revealed that the dialogue between Uddhav and Raj had begun. 'The cousins have spoken to each other before the July 5 march; they will discuss it,' he said. 'Both are ready in their minds for a reunion and no one can stop it.'

RJD MP demands list of deleted voters in Hindi
Buxar: RJD MP from Buxar, Sudhakar Singh, has written to the chief election commissioner, urging publication of the recently released list of deleted voters in Hindi. The list, published by the Election Commission on Aug 1, is currently available only in English, he said. In his letter sent on Sunday, Singh expressed serious concerns over discrepancies in the voter list issued after the special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls were conducted in Bihar . Singh said that Bihar is a predominantly Hindi-speaking state, and the use of English for such an important document would make it difficult to understand for the rural electors and booth-level agents (BLAs). "Our BLAs are largely farmers, workers, and common people," Singh said, alleging, "Publishing this list exclusively in English appears to be a deliberate attempt to mislead and obstruct their ability to identify deleted names."

Uddhav-Raj alliance will increase Opp tally, won't impact Mahayuti: Bhujbal
State Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Chhagan Bhujbal on Monday said that coming together of Uddhav and Raj Thackeray will lead to increase in the number of seats for the Opposition in the upcoming civic polls especially for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. He, however, claimed that Mahayuti alliance will not be impacted by this and will emerge victorious in the civic polls. 'I have known both of them (Raj and Uddhav) since their childhood. I don't think anyone will have any problem if the brothers Raj and Dadu (Uddhav) come together. Rather, coming together of both the leaders would mean old Shiv Sena coming together,' said Bhujbal. The NCP leader started his political career from Shiv Sena and was one of the closest aides of Sena founder late Bal Thackeray. Bhujbal later joined the Congress and moved to NCP when Sharad Pawar founded the party. Bhujbal said, 'It is definite that both Thackerays coming together will impact, especially the elections in Mumbai. Their seats will increase for sure.' He, however, added that it will not impact the ruling Mahayuti alliance of which NCP is a constituent. 'Irrespective of this (both Thackerays joining hands), the Mahayuti will have the highest number of seats,' he said. Last month, the estranged Thackeray cousins were seen sharing stage for the first time in over two decades over the issue of registering opposition to making Hindi mandatory from primary schooling. Local leaders from both the parties have held joint agitations and were seen together at various programmes. Last week, Raj Thackeray shared a stage at the 78th anniversary programme of Peasants and Workers Party (PWP) at Panvel along with Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut. On Monday, Raj Thackeray, while speaking at the party programme, advised his party workers to bury internal differences. 'If we both brothers can come together after 20 years, then why are you infighting within yourself,' asked Raj.

‘No Marathi vs non-Marathi', says Maharashtra CM Fadnavis, with an advise to Nishikant Dubey
Amid the tensions over the Marathi language, Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis clarified on Monday that there was no such issue in the state and no injustice was being done to either Marathi or non-Marathi speakers. He maintained that the controversy over the Marathi language is being created in the state for political reasons. Last month, BJP Lok Sabha MP Nishikant Dubey had hit out at Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray's "hit below their eardrum" advice to his party workers targeting non-Marathi speakers. Without naming anyone, Dubey had dared Thackeray to come out of the state and said, "Tumko patak patak ke maarenge" (you will be thrashed badly, again and again). Speaking to reporters, Fadnavis advised Dubey to exercise caution and suggested that he should not wade into the "Marathi versus non-Marathi" issue, which is being created for political reasons. "We are capable of handling it. There is no Marathi-non Marathi tension here. No injustice being done to either of them. Both Marathi and non-Marathi speakers in Maharashtra will teach those leaders a lesson who are trying to divide them," the CM asserted. Sena UBT will 'resort to violence' Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday said that his party would resort to violence if needed for the sake of Marathi, daring CM Fadnavis to do whatever he wanted in response. 'Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, for the sake of Marathi, we will resort to violence. Do whatever you want. This is Maharashtra and it belongs to the people who speak Marathi. One hundred and six martyrs sacrificed their lives for the sake of Maharashtra, for the Marathi people,' Raut said during a press conference. The Rajya Sabha MP wondered if Fadnavis would follow in the footsteps of Morarji Desai, who as the CM of Bombay state, gave orders for firing on Marathi people who were agitating for a state along linguistic lines, including Mumbai. On Saturday, the Shiv Sena (UBT), MNS, and Peasants and Workers Party (PWP), three parties that have seen their strength in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), shared the stage and played the Marathi pride card to the hilt.
