Thane: Sena minister Pratap Sarnaik appealed to MMRDA chairman and deputy CM

on Monday to rename Metro stations passing through Thane city to pay tribute to the native Agri-Koli community and prominent political figures, including late Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray and Shinde's mentor Anand Dighe.
Sarnaik suggested renaming Metro 4's Cadbury Junction station to Thane Mahapalika Bhavan, Mahapalika Marg station to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar station, and Teen Hath Naka as Dharmveer Anand Dighe Station. On Metro 10, he proposed that Retibandar halt be renamed as Hindu Hridaysamrat Late Balasaheb Thackeray Chowpati and Chena village to Chena gaon. Sarnaik also recommended naming the Mogharpada car shed after the local deity, Kaprad Dev.
"The Agri-Koli community played a vital role in the development of Thane and Mira-Bhayander," he said. "The contributions of leaders like Balasaheb Thackeray and Anand Dighe for the development of Thane and its citizens must be recognised." —Manoj Badgeri

Over 200 passengers were rescued after the train got stuck between Mysore Colony and Bhakti Park stations. Authorities are investigating the incident, and services between Wadala and Chembur are operating on a single line as rescue operations were carried out. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority said primary checks revealed that the train stopped due to overcrowding and overweight. The total weight of the train rose to around 109 metric tonnes, which exceeded its designed capacity of 104 metric tonnes. This excess weight caused a break in the mechanical contact between the power rail and the current collector, cutting off the electricity supply required to run the train," MMRDA said in a statement. The excess crowd was a result of closure of the Indian Railways Harbour Line owing to heavy rainfall in Mumbai. "MMRDA is actively coordinating with BMC and emergency services to provide passenger assistance, deboard affected commuters safely, and restore power and operations at the earliest. Immediate corrective actions are underway, and a detailed technical review is being conducted to prevent recurrence," the authority added. The train, which runs on an elevated track, was stuck for at least one hour, officials said. Bhopal: According to officials on Monday, Bhopal metro has now secured official certification from the Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO), a Railways subsidiary. MPMRCL authorities have confirmed that the Bhopal Metro priority corridor (Subhash Nagar to AIIMS Bhopal, about 7.5 km) has reached a crucial stage of completion. The preparations and paperwork for the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) inspection are being expedited with increased urgency. During Monday's inspection, MPMRCL managing director S Krishna Chaitanya conducted a detailed site assessment. The evaluation covered the segment between AIIMS Metro Station and DRM Office Metro Station, including a thorough review of the Subhash Nagar Depot. The visit focused on examining CMRS-related sites and monitoring the progress of construction activities, officials said.
