A dog's priceless reaction to watching a recording of her response while being home alone left viewers cracking up.
It is hard to know how a dog feels or acts when they're home alone, which is why pet parents often install a camera that allows them to check in through a phone app. And, the curious owners of Duffy the maltipoo, a Maltese and poodle mix, wanted to join the trend of staying in the loop of their pup's response, especially since they recently welcomed her home.
Duffy's owner told Newsweek that the pup cries and whines even when they're at home and in another room. They figured she'd be upset when home alone, but after setting up the pet camera, they learned the extent of the small dog's sadness.
They jokingly shared a recording from the pet camera of Duffy's dramatic cries with the dog, which they later posted in an Instagram video to the account @duffy.the.maltipoo. Her cries pierced through the recording. She howled in desperation that her humans would return.
The moment Duffy heard the recording, her eyes bulged. She tilted her head in confusion. She couldn't believe the sounds and acted as if she weren't responsible.

Duffy's owners were just as confused by the amount of noise she made, and the stress of leaving her at home alone caused her.
"...I didn't know that she cried that hysterically when we left the house," one of her owners said.
While the dog's stress hurt to hear, Duffy's reaction to the recording had her owners laughing, especially as she kept tilting her head side to side.
And thankfully, Dufffy grew out of this separation anxiety phase. She understands that her owners always return, greeting them with nothing but happiness. She'll even remain calm when they leave.
Viewer Reactions
The Instagram video reached over 464,000 views as of Friday, as people flooded the comment section with mixed emotions. They felt horrible for Duffy experiencing the stress of being home, but her reaction became priceless.
"The 'not me' look," pointed out one viewer.
"She is like, 'That's not me, I don't know that dog...sorry,'" another Instagram user commented.
A third person jokingly wrote from Duffy's point of view: "Doesn't sound like something I would do, you must have me confused."

Is your baby a star? The Gerber Photo Search contest is set to return soon

Do you think your little one is meant to be the next Gerber baby? Well, they may have a chance to be just that next year, but not in 2025. On the official Gerber baby IG page, some users left questions on their posts asking about the status of the popular Gerber baby photo contest. "How do we apply for our child to be a Gerber baby ?? 🥲" wrote one user in a post. And another user wrote on a different post, "When's the 2025? I have the cutest little boy to enter!" "We see your questions about Photo Search and wanted to let you know... the Photo Search is still on!" Gerber wrote in a recent story post that was added to its highlight reel on Instagram. The post went on to say that the call for entry and full rules for the competition will be announced in January 2026. Last year, the start of the competition was announced on April 30, 2024. But through the years, Gerber has changed when they began and announced the Photo Search Gerber does not have any permanent plans around changing the timing for the program, a Gerber spokesperson told USA TODAY in an email. Gerber Photo Search was last held 2024 The last Gerber Photo Search took place in 2024 when Akil McLeod was announced as the 2024 Gerber Baby and Chief Growing Officer, according to a news release on Gerber's website. The toddler, known as "Sonny", is from Arizona and loves playing with toy cars and watching football with his family. 'Every day it's an honor to watch Sonny conquer so many tiny achievements, from giggles, to trying new foods, to standing up and everything in between," Dominque McLeod, Sonny's mom, said in a release. "He's a light in our lives and brings joy to everyone around him." Sonny was recognized on his second birthday a few weeks ago on the Gerber IG page, which reads in part, "You've brought so much light to the Gerber family this year. Watching you grow has been such a gift! We are wishing you the happiest day filled with love, laughs, and all your favorite snacks." A post shared by Gerber (@gerber) Baby names: Baby Santa? What to know about banned baby names in the US Origins of the Gerber baby The iconic face of the original Gerber Baby has become synonymous with the brand, and like today, that face was found through a contest held in 1928, according to Gerber. A simple sketch of Ann Turner Cook, drawn by her family's neighbor, artist Dorothy Hope Smith, won the contest and grew so popular that, in 1931, it became Gerber's official trademark and it is the face of Gerber to this day. Today, the Gerber baby is found in a similar way. Parents have been entering their children into the annual Gerber Baby Photo Search since it began in June 2010, according to a press release published on its website. The first winner of the contest was announced in January 2011. Of the over 217,000 contestants, judges picked 2-year-old Mercy Townsend from Toledo, Ohio. In past years, content winners have had a chance to star in Gerber advertisements and win scholarship money. Battlefield 6 Beta Blows Out Queue Times After Players Flock to Game

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors Battlefield 6's first beta period has just started in early access, with hundreds of thousands of players flocking to the game to try it out. The Battlefield 6 open beta starts in earnest on August 9 and runs for the entire weekend, but players who preordered the Phantom Edition of the game or subscribed to EA Play Pro are able to access it from today. That makes it all the more impressive that the numbers for the game are already so high — over 300,000 players are active in the open beta app on Steam at the time of writing, with that number likely to rise as US audiences start to wake up. That's not including players on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with some estimating the real numbers could be over a million across all platforms already. EA The massive interest in the game saw queue times in-game balloon out, with some players reporting positions in the queue of over 200,000, being met with a message saying that the game servers are at maximum capacity. Thankfully, EA and DICE, the development team behind Battlefield 6, have been quick to respond to the massive player demand, assuring players in a post on X (formerly Twitter) shortly after the launch of the beta that they were working on a "substantial increase in server capacity." Not long after, that assurance seemed to come to fruition, with the official Battlefield Comms X account saying that queues were returning to suitable levels and times. We are now seeing signs of queue numbers returning to suitable levels and times. Thank you for your patience as we worked to mitigate the issue. We'll continue to keep an eye on queues and server capacity, and will follow up where needed! — Battlefield Comms (@BattlefieldComm) August 7, 2025 The early interest will likely come as a relief to EA, as it shows that the mixed reaction to 2021's Battlefield 2042 hasn't soured players on the franchise. BF2042 received mixed reviews from critics upon its release, with a metascore as low as 61/100 on some platforms on review aggregator website Metacritic. The reaction from players was even worse, with the game quickly becoming one of the worst reviewed games on Steam. Players criticized the game's lacking features, including many features missing that were present in prior games, as well as bugs and performance issues present in the game. Another concern from players was the inclusion of Christmas-themed skins, something players thought was at odds with the game's serious tone. That's something that is said to be avoided in the new game, after it was revealed in interviews with the game's developers that Battlefield 6 won't have silly crossover costumes like that of pop culture characters often featured in games like Fortnite and Call of Duty.

What Owner Feeds 'Picky' Dog for Dinner Goes Viral, Leaves Viewers Stunned

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A Maltipoo with refined taste has gone viral for her very unconventional dinner—Vietnamese pho. Brooklyn-based TikToker Nicholas Huynhme (@poppypoothemaltipoo) shared a video of their dog, Poppy, a 1-year-old Maltipoo, digging into a homemade bowl of noodle soup. The clip has racked up almost 800,000 views and 91,400 likes, with viewers both impressed and concerned by the meal. "Ever since we brought her home, she hasn't really liked eating her own food. We had to get creative to get her to eat, whether it was adding kibble toppers or making full home-cooked meals. She would often ignore her bowl but would always stare at us while we ate, clearly wanting whatever was on our plate. One day, while we were eating pho, we thought, why not make a version just for Poppy," Huynhme told Newsweek. Huynhme described the dish as a simplified and dog-friendly take on the traditional Vietnamese noodle soup. They made a gentle chicken broth using chicken breast, carrots, and rosemary—intentionally skipping any onions, salt, or spices. A split image of Poppy the Maltipoo tucking into a dog-friendly Pho. "She's getting pickier by the day," the pawrent wrote in the text overlay of the video. They explained that while the recipe wasn't traditional, it was something they could safely share with Poppy—and she loved it. Cooking for her has become not just a way to nourish her, but to express love and share joyful moments online. Pho is a classic Vietnamese dish, traditionally made with a deeply savory beef broth infused with spices like star anise, cinnamon, and cloves, and served with rice noodles, herbs, and thin slices of meat. It's typically topped with bean sprouts, basil, lime, and chili. While the dog-friendly version skips many of these for safety, it keeps the essence of comfort and warmth that defines the dish. The TikTok video sparked a range of reactions online. "My dog also gets pho," said one user, Nancy. "Y'all, do you know how hard it is to make puppy pho? You have to make EVERYTHING from scratch. That's a dedicated paw-rent," another viewer wrote. "I order from my local pho place so often that they let me add a 'dog order'—some of the beef, noodles and sprouts for Olive (my dog), also a plain unsalted broth to cook her meats slightly. It's too late for us to change our ways but a warning to others. You may not want to get into the habit of this stuff," said a commenter named Aaliyah. Others were more cautious. "Pho has onions, avocado, chocolate & grapes—cause dogs organ failure over time," warned one user. Huynhme was quick to respond: "We appreciate you looking out but we don't put any of that when we make it special for our dog." "This might be dangerous for the dog because she will pho everyday and quickly get addicted," joked another commenter. "The stuff I'm doing for my senior dog these days is crazy man," added Jemma. While opinions were mixed, many viewers praised the effort and devotion shown in crafting such a thoughtful, dog-safe meal. As Huynhme put it, "Like many dog parents, we are constantly googling 'Can my dog eat this?' before giving her anything new."
