Hyderabad: Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy stated that Kacheguda Railway Station has a rich historical background and contributes to environmental protection through its use of green energy.
On Monday, during the inauguration of the Kacheguda Railway Station façade illumination, organised by the Central Tourism Department for Rs 2.23 crore, he noted that the Indian Green Building Council has awarded the station a platinum rating for its sustainability efforts. Additionally, Kacheguda Station has been recognised as the most energy-efficient station in Indian Railways. Kacheguda Railway Station was also the first in Indian Railways to introduce digital payment services.
Acknowledging its importance, the station is set to undergo redevelopment with Rs 421.66 crore under the Amrit Bharat Railway Station Scheme. Overall, 40 railway stations across the state are being redeveloped with an estimated budget of Rs 2,750 crore to accommodate future needs over the next 30 years.
Kishan Reddy recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the newly redeveloped Begumpet, Karimnagar, and Warangal railway stations. These development projects aimed at providing passengers with state-of-the-art facilities that meet international standards.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated the Cherlapalli Railway Station, constructed at a cost of Rs 430 crore, to relieve pressure on the main railway stations in the city. The railway sector transportation system has made remarkable strides in Telangana over the past 11 years.
The Union Minister emphasized that during this period, the state's road network has doubled, while the railway network has tripled. Since 2014, Rs 30,832 crore has been allocated for railway development in Telangana.
In this year's railway budget, Rs 5,337 crore has been set aside for Telangana, which is 20 times more than the allocation in 2014-15. Currently, railway development projects worth Rs 42,219 crore are ongoing. Before 2014, an average of 17.4 km of railway lines were constructed in Telangana. After Narendra Modi took office, this rate increased to 55 km per year.
Railway services have become available in regions like Medak and Siddipet for the first time. Telangana has pioneered the railway protection system 'Kavach,' developed with indigenous technology, he said. This system is now being implemented nationwide.
To promote further research in this area, a 'Kavach Centre of Excellence' (CoE) has been established in Secunderabad. The Central government has been taking measures to ensure comprehensive research is conducted through this centre in the future.

Farooq Abdullah takes ride in Kashmir's Vande Bharat train, says will boost tourism

Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and president of the ruling National Conference (NC), Dr Farooq Abdullah, said on Tuesday that the train service to Kashmir Valley will boost tourism and the local economy. Dr Farooq Abdullah said this after boarding the Vande Bharat train from Srinagar to Katra. He told reporters before boarding the train, 'I am very happy that I am travelling by this train to Katra today. It has been the biggest benefit for us.' He said that since the train service connects Kashmir with the rest of the country, it will boost tourism as well as the local economy. 'It is a reliable transport link for the people of the Valley. The road between Srinagar and Jammu gets closed sometimes, and the airlines start fleecing the people by jacking up the prices. With this train, people will be saved from that. This will also prove to be beneficial to the horticulture sector in Kashmir as the produce will reach the markets faster', he said. After reaching Katra, he could not hide his happiness and said, "I'm so happy that tears welled up in my eyes. Has that day really come when I can travel from Kashmir to the rest of India by train?... I want to congratulate all the workers and engineers who built the highest railway bridge in India...' He was accompanied by several party colleagues, who joined his journey from Srinagar to Katra town of Reasi district in Jammu division. The Vande Bharat train has been especially designed for the weather and topography of the region. It offers a modern and enhanced travel experience with features like fast acceleration, a high-speed operation of up to 160 km/hr, and a range of amenities. These include comfortable seating, mobile charging sockets, onboard catering and enhanced safety features. Che_JM_Significant Rise in Shift to Non-Farm Sector Jobs in TN

Chennai: Tamil Nadu is seeing a significant shift from employment in the agriculture sector. A survey conducted between 2012 and 2024 revealed a decline in agricultural dependence and a rise in non-farm jobs due to increased access to higher education and the availability of non-farm employment. While 40% of the population relied on agriculture in 2012, this share dropped considerably. By 2024, it decreased by nearly 20%. In terms of gender distribution, 81% of men are engaged in non-agricultural work. For women, the corresponding figure is 71%. Villages selected for the study were chosen based on their rural non-farm employment rates. Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, and Virudhunagar reported relatively higher rates. In contrast, Thanjavur and Pudukottai showed lower rates of rural non-farm employment. The study found that agriculture was the primary occupation in only one village. This indicated that agriculture is no longer the sole occupation for households in rural Tamil Nadu. Non-agriculture is evolving beyond a peripheral activity. It is no longer considered a 'residual' activity, as some studies previously suggested. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Good News: You May Be Richer Than You Think Undo In 2012, 43% of workers were engaged in agricultural work. This figure sharply declined to 22% within a decade. Conversely, the percentage of workers engaged in non-agricultural work increased significantly, rising from 57% to 78% during the same period. Agriculture still provides livelihood for many rural workers, but the shift towards secondary and tertiary sectors is accelerating over the years. Younger workers, aged 15–34, are increasingly transitioning away from agriculture and seeking opportunities in non-farm jobs. Construction is a dominant sector for male workers. Manufacturing remains a significant non-agricultural activity for female workers. This trend is consistent across all age groups. The average annual earning of a non-agricultural labourer is estimated to be Rs 1.39 lakh. In comparison, an agricultural labourer earns an average of Rs 37,577. A self-employed worker in agriculture earns approximately Rs 99,400 annually. The report highlighted disparities in earnings based on caste. "The earnings of non-agricultural labourers belonging to different castes seem to be in alignment with the prevalent caste hierarchy: labourers belonging to Scheduled Castes, in general, earn the lowest," the report said. Mobility for employment is a common phenomenon, with more than half of non-agricultural workers migrating for job opportunities. State Planning Commission Vice-Chairman J Jeyaranjan said the high duration of employment and higher wages in non-farm sectors are significant factors. These advantages neutralise the uncertainties associated with agriculture. "Agriculture has become supplementary now. Non-farm employment has become primary income due to growing importance. The major problem in agriculture is seasonality, and employment for 120 days a year," Jeyaranjan told TOI. EOM// MSID:: 121733500 413 |
