Actor Prateik Smita Patil has had a strenuous relationship with all things in his life, including his career, family, mental health and past partners. Born to actors Raj Babbar and Smita Patil, he has always been very vocal about the troubles he faced while trying to fill his parents' shoes and how they were always occupied with their careers. In a recent interview, he explained his rift with anger management and drugs and how his family issues affected him.
While talking to ZOOM on their YouTube channel, Prateik shed some light on his addiction and how it got worse and more out of control due to the situation at his home. 'I overdosed a couple of times, and rehab didn't work for me. The second I was out, within a few weeks, I was back to being an addict. I was ashamed of my family situation and not having parents with me. I went through all of that, with drugs and everything, but I was protected, and it wasn't my time yet.'

He talked about the aftermath of his addiction and added that, 'It was tough. You get boycotted and labelled, and you become an outcast. I was very fortunate to have my family, who were extremely upset with me, but they were there. I was perceived very differently in the society, and kids were told by their parents to stay away from me.'
As he shared stories from his childhood, he admitted to being an extremely angry child and how his parents' absence ate at him. 'My experience with depression came much later; in my childhood I dealt with a lot of anger. I was angry all the time, and I was filled with rage. I remember watching the television, and one of my mother's movies was playing. I was angry that she wasn't there with me, and I picked up the TV and broke it. I even took a baseball bat to all the pictures in the house.'
Through his ups and downs, Prateik is attempting a comeback into Bollywood, as he last appeared in Sikandar, alongside Salman Khan, Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal and Sharman Joshi. While the movie failed to make a sizable mark on the box office, big-budget films with established stars just might be the way to go for Prateik.

Kirron Kher ‘Can't Appreciate Every Film' Of Anupam Kher And She Is ‘Blunt About That'

Kirron Kher revealed how she has often been 'blunt' with her husband Anupam Kher about his films, even if it means telling him she didn't like them. Kirron Kher has always been known for her candid nature and unfiltered opinions. Whether it is about her work, personal beliefs or family, the veteran actress does not hold back. In a recent conversation, she revealed how she has often been 'blunt' with her husband, actor Anupam Kher, about his films, even if it means telling him she didn't like them. She also opened up about the advice she gives her son, Sikandar, urging him not to be overly selective with his work. Kirron Kher Criticises Husband Anupam Kher's Films During a conversation with CNN-News 18 Kirron shared, 'I am not one of those people who appreciates family members just like that. I am rather blunt about that. My husband feels bad about it. He has done so many films. Some of them are good, some aren't, so I can't appreciate every film of his. I'm a dangerous woman to take to film trials because it is obvious when I don't like a film. It shows on my face." Her straightforwardness is not just limited to her husband's work. Kirron admitted she has been equally upfront about her son Sikandar's performances, citing an example from his 2019 film Milan Talkies, directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, which she did not enjoy. Kirron Kher's Advice to Her Son Kirron explained that she often advises Sikandar to take a page from Anupam Kher's career, where he never turned down work for being too choosy. She added, 'I usually like Sikandar's work. He is very particular about his projects. I tell him not to be like me but to be more like Anupam. Anupam has done all the films because he had to earn money and take care of the house and the family. He had to help relatives, his brother and everyone else. Sikandar is a laat saheb (entitled) and he thinks like me but things don't work that way. Aapko bhi kaam karna padega vaise jaise Papa ne kiya (He also has to work like his father did)." The actress pointed out that her own career choices were shaped by her circumstances. 'I had the luxury of choice, I didn't have to run the house, it was Anupam's responsibility. So I could choose what I want to do but if Sikandar also starts doing this then problems will occur," she said. Kirron Kher's Personal Front Anupam Kher and Kirron Kher tied the knot on August 26, 1985. Sikandar is Kirron's son from her first marriage with Gautam Berry. Kirron and Anupam never had children together. In 2020, Kirron was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, following which she has largely maintained a low public profile. She was last seen attending the premiere of Tanvi The Great, directed by Anupam Kher, on July 17, 2025. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Kirron Kher says Anupam Kher feels bad when she doesn't appreciate his work, advises son Sikandar Kher to 'be more like Anupam': 'Sikandar is a laat saheb...'

Veteran actor Kirron Kher is known for her open and honest personality, both on and off screen. In a recent interview, she revealed that she never praises her family's work unless it truly impresses her, even if that means hurting feelings at home. 'I am not one of those people who appreciates family members just like that. My husband feels bad about it,' she told News18, admitting she can't pretend to like every film Anupam Kher has done. 'It shows on my face,' she laughed, recalling how she didn't enjoy Sikandar's performance in Tigmanshu Dhulia's Milan Talkies. Advice to Sikandar: 'Be more like Anupam' Kirron shared that she often urges her son to be less selective with projects. While Sikandar is 'very particular' about his work, she feels he needs to take on more roles, just as Anupam did during his career's peak. 'Anupam has done all the films because he had to earn money and take care of the house and the family. Sikandar is a laat saheb... but things don't work that way,' she pointed out. Kirron acknowledged she had the 'luxury of choice' because Anupam bore the financial responsibility, a privilege she believes Sikandar cannot afford if he wants to keep working consistently. Kirron Kher drops a picture from a lunch date with her husband Anupam Kher; fans say 'You both are looking cute' Anupam Kher on the 'void' of not having children Married since 1985, Kirron and Anupam Kher do not have children together. Sikandar is Kirron's son from her first marriage to Gautam Berry, and was four years old when Anupam entered his life. Speaking on Raj Shamani's podcast, Anupam admitted feeling a 'void' over not having biological children, revealing that Kirron 'could not conceive' and later faced complications when she did. 'I was too busy making it big,' he said, but added that Sikandar 'is still fine for me,' emphasising their strong bond despite the circumstances.
