Efforts on to create ‘Golden Anantapur': Payyavula Keshav
Anantapur: The 79th Independence Day celebrations were held with grandeur at the Anantapur Police Parade Ground on Friday morning. State Minister for Finance & Planning, Commercial Taxes, and Legislative Affairs, Payyavula Keshav, hoisted the National Flag and led the singing of the National Anthem. The Minister received the Rashtriya Salute from the parade commander, inspected the parade, and later addressed the gathering. He emphasized that under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the government is implementing the 'Super 6' welfare schemes and other development programmes at a rapid pace, aiming to transform Anantapur into a 'Golden District' and to achieve the 'Vision 2047' goal of making India the world's number one nation. Rs3,850 crore worth of development works are underway in the Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) project, including widening canals to double water-carrying capacity from 2,200 to 3,850 cusecs in Phase-1, enabling quick filling of the Jeedipalli reservoir and supplying irrigation water to 1,52,417 acres. Phase-2 works from Jeedipalli to the Sri Sathya Sai district border have been 80% completed. From August 15, women in Andhra Pradesh can travel free in five categories of APSRTC buses – Palle Velugu, Ultra Palle Velugu, City Ordinary, Metro Express, and Express services. From August 15, citizens can access 700 government services through WhatsApp (9552300009) without visiting government offices.

‘Stree Shakti' free bus travel scheme for women launched in Tirupati
Tirupati: The State government's flagship women's welfare initiative, 'Stree Shakti', offering free bus travel for women in RTC services, was launched in Tirupati on Friday evening by Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy. Marking the launch, the Minister formally handed over the first 'zero fare' ticket to Tirupati Municipal Corporation Commissioner N Mourya. Speaking on the occasion, Ramanarayan Reddy said that before the elections, when the government had promised free bus travel for women under Stree Shakti scheme, opposition parties had criticised the move. 'Today, we have fulfilled that promise, ensuring free travel for women in RTC buses,' he said. Tirupati district Collector Dr S Venkateswar described the scheme as a 'boon' for women. He explained that women could avail free travel in Palle Velugu, Ultra Palle Velugu, Express, and Metro Express buses by showing a valid government-issued photo ID card. This facility is available for travel anywhere within the district and across the state. 'In our district, an average of 41,000 people travel by bus every day. With the launch of this scheme, we expect an additional 30,000 women passengers daily,' the Collector said. The district's 11 depots operate 356 buses across 136 routes in which women can avail the benefit. He added that the scheme is expected to generate annual savings of Rs 82.71 crore for women passengers, translating to about Rs 1,050 per month per beneficiary. Buses covered under the scheme will have markings in the front, and special yellow-coloured seats will be reserved for women. The event was attended by Tirupati MLA Arani Srinivasulu, MLC Balli Kalyan Chakravarthi, TUDA Chairman C Divakar Reddy, Deputy Mayor RC Muni Krishna, Yadava Corporation Chairman G Narasimha Yadav, Public Transport Department District Manager Jagadeesh and others.

Stree Shakti aims to empower women, says Anagani Satyaprasad
Visakhapatnam: The aim of the coalition government is to make women in the State financially independent and grow economically, said Revenue, Stamps and Registration Minister Anagani Satyaprasad. Speaking after the launch of the 'Stree Shakti' scheme that aims to provide free travel for women in RTC buses across the State at the Maddilapalem RTC depot, the minister said that despite the financial burden, Rs.1,942 crore was being spent on the scheme for its implementation. Through the scheme, 74 per cent of the RTC buses have been allotted for women to travel, he informed. Further, Satyaprasad mentioned that through the scheme, the financial burden of women belonging to poor and middle-class families will be reduced by Rs.2,000 to Rs.3,000 per month. He said that the coalition government is implementing schemes for women as promised. Speaking on the occasion, Visakhapatnam MP M Sribharat expressed hope that with the availability of free bus services, women will have an opportunity to come out of their homes and get jobs. RTC officials informed that 576 buses have been readied for free bus travel for women in Visakhapatnam Mayor Peela Srinivasa Rao mentioned that the coalition government is successfully implementing the Super Six schemes. He said that the free bus facility will reduce the financial burden on women. Visakhapatnam North constituency MLA P Vishnu Kumar Raju termed the scheme as an innovative scheme. He suggested that people should always remember the coalition government which is providing several facilities to women. South constituency MLA Ch Vamsi Krishna Srinivas said that the coalition government is fulfilling all the promises made to the people. District Collector MN Harendira Prasad and Police Commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi said that the free bus ride is a silent revolution. Marking the occasion, zero fare tickets were handed over to women travelling in buses. Later, the minister travelled in a city bus till Yendada. He was accompanied by MLC Vepada Chiranjeevi Rao, TDP district president Gandi Babji, former MLC Duvvarapu Rama Rao, RTC Regional Manager Appalanaidu, and GVMC Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha flagged off the Stree Shakti scheme in Anakapalli. Speaking on the occasion, the Home Minister stressed that the scheme is beneficial for the women in terms of meeting education and job purposes. 'As part of the poll promises made, the NDA government is fulfilling all the promises made in a hassle-free manner. Also, for the safety and security of women passengers and women conductors, CCTV cameras have been installed in the buses,' the Home Minister mentioned, appealing to people to adhere to law and order maintenance, set goals and work towards achievingthem.
