US imposes new sanctions on Iran's shadow fleet
The United States imposed sanctions on more than 30 people and vessels for their role in selling and transporting Iranian petroleum-related products as part of Tehran's 'shadow fleet,' the Treasury Department said.
The sanctions target oil brokers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Hong Kong, tanker operators and mangers in India and China, the head of Iran's National Iranian Oil Company, and the Iranian Oil Terminals Company, Treasury said.
It said the vessels sanctioned ship tens of millions of barrels of crude oil valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars, the department said in a statement.
'Iran continues to rely on a shadowy network of vessels, shippers, and brokers to facilitate its oil sales and fund its destabilizing activities,' said Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
The sanctions build on those imposed by the Biden administration.
Such sanctions target key sectors of Iran's economy with the aim of denying the government funds for its nuclear and missile programs. The move generally prohibits any US individuals or entities from doing any business with the targets and freezes any US-held assets.

Saudi Arabia condemns Israeli strikes on Iran, urges return to negotiations
Saudi Gazette report ISTANBUL — Saudi Arabia on Saturday renewed its condemnation of Israel's 'blatant aggression' against Iran, calling the attacks a violation of Iranian sovereignty and a breach of international laws and norms that threaten regional security and stability. Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan delivered the Kingdom's position during the opening session of the 51st Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), hosted in Istanbul. He called for an immediate halt to military operations, urged all parties to avoid escalation, and emphasized the need to return to diplomatic negotiations between Iran and the international community. Prince Faisal also reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause, stressing that the Kingdom has exerted every effort to contain the crisis in Gaza, address the worsening humanitarian situation, and work toward ending Israel's war on the Palestinian people. US Treasury Targets Houthis in Yemen with Sanctions
The US on Friday said it has taken its single largest sanctions action to date against Yemen's Houthi militias, a key Iranian ally, by imposing sanctions on four people, 12 entities, and two ships that Washington alleges import oil and other goods for the group. Treasury's Deputy Secretary Michael Faulkender said Friday's action 'underscores our commitment to disrupting the Houthis' financial and shipping pipelines that enable their reckless behavior in the Red Sea and the surrounding region.' The Houthis have launched missile and drone attacks against commercial and military ships in the Red Sea corridor as an effort to end Israel's offensive in Gaza. They have also targeted Israel with long-range missiles. Also on Friday, the Trump administration issued fresh Iran-related sanctions, including on two entities based in Hong Kong, and counterterrorism-related sanctions, according to a notice posted to the Treasury Department's website. The sanctions target at least 20 entities, five individuals and three vessels, according to Treasury's Office of Foreign Asset Control.
