Tourists flock to scenic destinations on Eid
During Eidul Fitr holidays, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P)'s scenic destinations witnessed a massive influx of tourists, with over 306,215 visitors exploring the region's breathtaking landscapes.
Popular tourist spots, including Naran, Kaghan and Galiyat saw a significant rise in footfall as the provincial government ensured a smooth experience for travelers.
On the directives of K-P Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Advisor for Tourism and Culture Zahid Chanzeb, authorities took extensive measures to facilitate tourists.
The tourism police, tourism authorities, and helpline (1422) were fully operational, ensuring security and assistance at all key locations. Among the top attractions, Swat Valley recorded the highest number of tourists, with 211,009 visitors.
Meanwhile, 42,111 tourists visited Naran and Kaghan, and 28,000 explored Galiyat, making these destinations among the most sought-after spots this festive season.
Kumrat Valley also welcomed 16,400 visitors. To manage the crowd efficiently, the leaves of tourism police personnel were canceled, and they were deployed at major tourist hubs to assist visitors and ensure safety throughout the holiday period.

Tourist resorts witness high influx
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's tourist and scenic spots witnessed an extraordinary influx of visitors, with over 932,000 tourists visiting in just three days during Eidul Azha. The Swat region, in particular, saw a significant influx of tourists. Famous destinations within Swat, such as Madyan, Bahrain, and surrounding areas, welcomed a total of 288,424 domestic tourists, along with 63 foreign visitors. These figures highlight Swat's popularity as a prime attraction for Pakistani tourists during the Eid holidays. Across the province, other major tourist spots also experienced high visitor numbers, including Galiyat, 177,000 tourists; Naran Kaghan,168,000 tourists; Malam Jabba, 160,000 tourists; and Dir Upper, 85,000 tourists. These statistics were compiled with the assistance of police and Balochistan Levies checkpoints, Tourism Police, assistant commissioners, and field officers from relevant development authorities. Under the directives of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Khan Gandapur and Advisor for Tourism Zahid Chanzeb, excellent facilities were provided to tourists. Visitors highly praised the effective arrangements for parking, security, guidance, and medical assistance. Young personnel from the Tourism Police provided exemplary service to tourists, while the Department of Tourism's helpline 1422 remained operational 24 hours a day. The significant arrival of tourists in merged districts like Khyber and Bajaur also highlighted the emerging tourism development in these areas. The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority played a pivotal role in managing tourist arrangements, oversight, and facility provision. Advisor for Tourism Zahid Chanzeb stated that the trust shown by tourists is a source of pride. The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government and the Culture and Tourism Authority are utilizing all available resources to make the province a safe, modern, and world-class tourist hub.

CM approves establishment of Safari Park in Nowshera
PESHAWAR: In a major initiative to promote tourism and recreational activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has approved the establishment of a state-of-the-art Safari Park in Nowshera district. Chairing a meeting of the Department of Forests and Environment, the chief minister directed that the project be included in the next Annual Development Programme (ADP) for execution on ground. Adviser to the Chief Minister, Musawir Khan, along with senior officials from the Departments of Forests and Environment, Finance, and Planning & Development, attended the meeting. During the session, officials briefed participants on various aspects of the proposed Safari Park. It was told that the proposed Safari Park will span 560 acres — twice the size of the Lahore Safari Park — and will be established in Misri Banda, Nowshera, where government land is readily available. The site has been deemed highly suitable for such a project based on its location. The park is estimated to cost Rs. 3.5 billion and is expected to be completed within three years. It will feature comprehensive facilities for tourists, including a botanical garden, bird enclosures, an aviary, a cultural village, and a natural history museum. The primary objectives of the park are to provide recreational opportunities to the public, conserve wildlife and plant species, promote eco-tourism, and create green employment opportunities. Saiful Malook draws tourists in droves
Saiful Malook – a lake known for its fairytale atmosphere – attracted many tourists and adventure sports enthusiasts during the Eidul Fitr holidays. Nestled amidst snow-capped peaks of the Malika Parbat range in Mansehra's Kaghan Valley, the famous lake captivates visitors with its fairytale-like charm. The arduous journey that travellers make from Pakistan's lower areas to the northern highlands of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is instantly rewarded as they encounter the breathtaking beauty of Saiful Malook Lake. Spanning 1.06 square miles with a depth of 113 feet and sitting at an elevation of 3,224 meters above sea level, Saiful Malook's oval shape with crystal-clear and greenish-blue waters leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of millions of tourists each year. Revered as a lake of legends and princes, Saiful Malook is enveloped by the serene mountains of Malka Parbat in upper Kaghan, offering a peaceful retreat to tourists from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Named after the Persian Prince Saiful Malook, the lake attracts both international and local tourists, particularly during the summer months when its pleasant climate and cascading waterfalls from nearby glaciers add to its allure. The lake is immortalised in Sufi poet Mian Muhammad Bakhsh's epic, "Fairytale of Saiful Malook," which recounts the prince Saiful Malook's quest for the fairy princess Badriul Jamala - a journey marked by enchanting adventures and unfulfilled longing. Though Pakistan boasts numerous stunning lakes like Ansoo, Lalusar, Dudipastar and Sheosar, Saiful Malook stands out for its blend of fairytales, striking beauty and pristine waters. Dental surgeon Dr Muhammad Tahir, attested to the lake's exceptional charm, citing its lasting impression compared to other global lakes he has visited. He said that in today's digital age, there is a growing recognition of the potential for leveraging social media to enhance mountains and eco-tourism as well as archaeology for economic development. Alpine Club of Pakistan President Abu Zafar Sadiq highlighted how the growing digital and social media can transform the tourism landscape, especially Saiful Malook's charm in Pakistan. "Saiful Malook and similar celebrated tourist sites offer stunning beauty and significant economic promise for Pakistan subject to the government patronage. Despite its immense potential, Pakistan's tourism sector has struggled to reach its full economic potential mainly due to natural calamities and security challenges," he said. According to the data he shared, in 2017, tourism contributed only $8.8 billion, or 2.9% of GDP, which rose to $15 billion, or 5.7% of GDP, in 2019. However, the COVID-19 pandemic and security issues exacerbated challenges to tourism in Pakistan, which led to a notable decline in tourism revenue and employment in Pakistan. Currently, KP Wildlife Department, which oversees Saiful Malook and Lulusar lakes as part of national parks, is working to ensure sustainable protection and improved tourist facilities. Future developments, such as a chairlift project and enhanced service areas, aim to elevate the tourist experience while supporting local economies. Overall, as Pakistan continues to enhance its digital presence and infrastructure, Saiful Malook Lake remains a symbol of the nation's rich natural and cultural heritage, poised to attract and inspire millions of visitors from around the world.
