Reducing air pollution in line with Sharjah's vision
This initiative comes under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. It supports Dibba Al-Hisn's vision to become a leading city in health and environmental standards as part of the "Sharjah Healthy City" programme. The municipality's efforts focus on key criteria such as water quality, sewage system efficiency, food safety, and air pollution reduction — all of which contribute to the city's status as a sustainable and healthy environment.
Mobile unit to monitor vital locations
The initiative reflects Dibba Al-Hisn Municipality's commitment to best environmental practices and institutional cooperation in sustainable development. The mobile unit will assess air quality at key locations across the city, including residential and agricultural areas and public facilities. This step is part of the municipality's strategy to regularly monitor environmental indicators and gather accurate data to enhance quality of life. Results from the air quality assessments will be used to improve agricultural and landscaping plans, ensuring they meet the highest environmental standards.
Supporting long-term environmental strategy
Talib Abdullah Al Yahyai, Director of Dibba Al-Hisn Municipality, said the municipality is dedicated to improving quality of life for individuals and the wider community by fostering a healthy environment and reducing pollution. He emphasised that initiatives like this enable precise and ongoing monitoring of air quality across the city and help guide appropriate actions and decisions.
He added that the initiative is also expected to raise public environmental awareness and provide accurate data to support decision-making in environmental and public health planning — such as identifying suitable tree-planting sites, improving infrastructure in high-pollution areas, and directing awareness campaigns. The measurements will help monitor environmental changes year-round and link them to health indicators, in collaboration with relevant entities in Sharjah, to enhance safety and quality of life in Dibba Al-Hisn.
Al Yahyai thanked Sharjah Municipality for their productive cooperation, stressing that such partnerships with relevant Sharjah authorities help improve service efficiency for the local community and support the emirate's overarching strategy to improve quality of life and achieve sustainable development.

"IKTIFA" launches "FILI POULTRY" at Sharjah Cooperative Society

His Excellency Dr Eng Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, CEO of the Sharjah Agricultural and Livestock Production 'IKTIFA,' stated that FILI Poultry is a new breed not found in the Gulf region. It is a slow-growing breed raised through free-range farming for up to 70 days, compared to the typical broiler chickens available in the market, which are raised in just 27 days. He pointed out that FILI Poultry is distinguished by its high immunity, long legs, and resistance to diseases, and is raised without antibiotics, hormones, or any chemical additives. His Excellency Dr Eng. Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji added that the feed formula for FILI Poultry was personally developed by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The formula consists of organic wheat and corn, soybeans, turmeric, and plant-based oils infused with garlic, wild thyme, oregano, eucalyptus, and frankincense — all incorporated into the organic feed mix. His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah had approved the logo and marketing identity of FILI Poultry, which represents a return to authentic, natural farming practices. The logo symbolises the harmony between domesticated and natural birds, living in open fields and feeding on organic, natural nutrition.

Vets and inspectors to examine livestock, monitor food est

Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, the Director General of Sharjah Municipality, announced that a dedicated team of 28 veterinarians and their assistants will be working at the Sharjah Livestock Market. Their job is to check the health of livestock and take blood samples to ensure the animals are healthy and free from diseases. The municipality is also conducting a thorough cleaning campaign, spraying the pens and quarantine areas to make sure only healthy livestock come into the emirate. Additionally, Al Tunaiji shared that the municipality is ramping up efforts to inspect food establishments, barbershops, and beauty centers, making sure they meet the necessary health standards. This ensures that the public has access to safe food and quality services that promote good health. For this important work, over 150 inspectors—both men and women—have been assigned to monitor these places during the busy Eid holiday. The municipality has worked hard to prepare for Eid celebrations in the city. They've set up teams, brought in equipment, and ensured that all prayer areas are ready. This includes doing necessary ground work, creating parking spaces for worshippers, thoroughly cleaning the areas, and launching a special campaign to eliminate pests, all to create a safe and healthy environment for everyone. Officials emphasized the importance of inspection teams, who will keep an eye out for any bad practices, especially regarding street butchers. These butchers can pose serious health risks, as the animals they sell might not meet health standards, and they lack the expertise to ensure their meat is safe for consumption. It's essential that slaughtering happens in proper facilities that follow health guidelines, which is crucial for consumer safety. Additionally, inspectors will watch for any activities that disrupt informal markets or anything that could negatively affect the community's well-being or appearance. They will also closely oversee public beaches and parks during the busy holiday period, increasing the number of inspectors and lifeguards to ensure that everyone follows the rules and stays safe. As for public parking, the Director General reminded everyone that parking is free on the first three days of Eid. However, there are paid parking areas that are marked with blue signs, which remain operational throughout the week and on official holidays. The municipality is actively checking for parking violations to make sure the service runs smoothly and benefits everyone. They encourage everyone to avoid bad parking habits, like taking up more than one space or parking on sidewalks, as these actions can disrupt service and affect the local area's appearance. The Sharjah Municipality urges everyone to follow the guidelines and enjoy the festive atmosphere in the city. They also encourage people to reach out to their 24/7 call center at 993 with any questions or reports.
