Union Minister Nitin Gadkari lays foundation stone and inaugurate nine National Highway projects in Karnataka
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, former Karnataka CM B.S. Yediyurappa, MPs, MLAs, and senior officials were also present during the event.
The newly inaugurated Sharavathi Bridge is poised to significantly improve connectivity between the Malnad and coastal regions, while also facilitating easier access to important pilgrimage centres such as the Sigandur Chowdeshwari and Kollur Mookambika temples.
The widening of the 47-kilometre-long Bidar-Humnabad section of NH-367 will substantially reduce travel time between the districts of Kalaburagi and Bidar. Restoration works undertaken in the Shiradi Ghat stretch of NH-75 are expected to ensure safe and uninterrupted traffic movement during the monsoon season, particularly along the vital Mangaluru-Bengaluru corridor.
The construction of a Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Shahabad and a bridge over the Kagina River on NH-50 will ensure seamless connectivity between Kalaburagi and Raichur. In addition, road safety enhancements on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Access-Controlled Expressway will facilitate faster, safer, and more efficient travel between Karnataka and Kerala, while also reducing travel time and fuel consumption.
Earlier on July 8, Nitin Gadkari held a detailed review meeting in New Delhi with officials to assess the progress of National Highway projects in Maharashtra.
The review was focused on the road projects, including Mumbai-Goa Highway (Package I, VI, VII), National Highway 353C from Choudampalli to Sironcha, National Highway 161A from Mudkhed to Nanded, National Highway 166G from Talere to Gaganbawda to Kolhapur, National Highway 52 and Kharwandi Kasar Junction, and National Highway 652 from Naldurg to Akkalkot.
Earlier on Sunday, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari expressed deep concern over the ongoing conflicts worldwide and stated that the situation has become so grave that tensions between countries could potentially escalate into a third world war soon.
The Union Minister also highlighted that advancements in warfare technology have dramatically altered the 'dimensions of war' and said that the current situation is a serious problem that demands urgent attention and discussion at the global level. (ANI)

Yaduveer seeks disaster relief funds for Kodagu
Madikeri: Mysuru MP Yaduveer Wadiyar met Union home minister Amit Shah and requested him to release funds through the National Disaster Management Fund to address rain damages in Kodagu district. Belur criticises MP over Sigandur bridge inauguration row
Shivamogga: A day after the launch of India's second-longest cable-stayed bridge at Sagar in Shivamogga, Sagar MLA Belur Gopal Krishna criticised Shivamogga MP BY Raghavendra. He accused him of having a "fox mentality" and deliberately scheduling the event hastily to exclude state govt representatives. He urged CM Siddaramaiah to take disciplinary action against govt officials who attended the Sigandur bridge inauguration on Monday, despite the CM's instructions. Action to be taken against debris dumping and slum expansion in Mahim creek and Ganpat Patil Nagar in Mumbai, says minister
Mumbai: Over the next three days, action will be taken against debris dumping in the Mahim creek and Ganpat Patil Nagar, Dahisar, said revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule in the legislative council on Tuesday. The issue of debris dumping in the mangroves at Ganpat Patil Nagar and the expansion of slums was raised through a supplementary question by BJP MLC Pravin Darekar, who demanded an investigation into the expansion of slums near the creeks. In reply, Bawankule said the revenue department has begun mapping all areas along creeks, and action was already taken in a dozen places. "A task force is being set up, and only tolerated structures up to 2011 and those built under the PM Awaas Yojana will not be touched, while all others will be removed. Earlier, action would be taken either by the revenue department or the police department. They did not act in consonance. Now we have made a policy that action will be taken jointly by the revenue as well as the police departments. Revenue will impose a penalty, and the case will be registered by the police," said Bawankule.
