UK police arrest six on suspicion of assault near Iran's London embassy
LONDON, June 20 (Reuters) - British police arrested six men on suspicion of grievous bodily harm on Friday following reports of an altercation at a location close to the Iranian embassy in London.
"Six men have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm – they remain in police custody," police said in a statement.
Local media reported the arrests took place at a protest against the Iranian leadership.
Police did not link the arrests to the Iranian embassy, but said they took place on Prince's Gate in London, which is where the embassy is located.
"Two men were treated for injuries at the scene and have been taken to hospital for further treatment by the London Ambulance Service.
'Police have cordoned off the area while initial investigations take place.'

Metropolitan Police officers responded to reports of an altercation in Princes Gate in Knightsbridge, west London, shortly after 9.50am on Friday, a force spokesperson said. Two men were treated for injuries at the scene by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) before one was taken to a major trauma centre and the other to hospital. The seven arrested men, whose ages have not yet been given, currently remain in police custody. Police have imposed conditions to stop protestors from gathering in the area until 1pm on Sunday. One man was arrested and taken into custody on suspicion of breaching the conditions. An LAS spokesperson said: 'We were called at 9.56am today (June 20) to reports of an assault in Princes Gate, SW7. 'We sent a number of resources to the scene including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars and our Tactical Response Unit. 'We treated two patients at the scene and took one to hospital and one to a major trauma centre.' Footage shared on social media appeared to show two men lying on the ground in a fenced-off section of the road. One man, who was shirtless, had blood covering his nose and mouth, while the other man lay motionless clutching his left leg and ankle, with police officers attending both individuals. A number of national embassies are located on or near Prince's Gate, including the Embassy of The Islamic Republic of Iran.

North Carolina resident killed in Puerto Rico for flashy jewelry
SAN JUAN, June 20 (Reuters) - A North Carolina resident vacationing with his family in Puerto Rico was killed overnight in a robbery, leaving him stripped of the luxury jewelry he was wearing, police said on Friday. Noa Joshua Ameson, 38, was on vacation in Manati, to the west of capital San Juan. Police told Reuters the beachside neighborhood where the incident took place is usually quiet and robberies of this nature are uncommon, marking a rare outbreak of violence in the area. Ameson and his family were returning to the vacation home they were renting when armed, masked attackers intercepted them, Axel Valencia, spokesperson for the Puerto Rico police, told Reuters. Valencia added that Ameson may have tried to fight back when one of the attackers shot him. He was taken to hospital, where he died. Police are working to obtain security footage and to identify a vehicle which the attackers may have escaped in, Valencia added.

England goalkeeper Khiara Keating has had a court case dropped a year after pleading not guilty to possessing canisters of nitrous oxide, often known as 'laughing gas'. The 20-year-old Manchester City star was arrested and charged with possession of a Class C drug on June 18 last year after an investigation by Greater Manchester Police. Keating appeared at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court alongside her mother, Nicola, last July. Nicola also denied the same offence and both her and Khiara were granted unconditional bail. Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that the case was discontinued by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). The Lioness, who was recently called up to Sarina Wiegman 's 23-player squad for the upcoming European Championship, told BBC Sport: 'I'm relieved the charges have been dropped. As I've always said, I did nothing wrong. Keating, 20, was arrested and charged with possession of a Class C drug last year 'It's been a difficult time, but I've always known the truth. Now I'm just looking forward to focusing fully on the Euros and spending time with my family.' Possession of nitrous oxide where someone intends to inhale it for a psychoactive effect became an offence after it was made a Class C drug in November 2023. It is still legal to use it in specific circumstances – including as pain relief during labour as well as for catering.
