Hamdan Talent Scale Identifies Over 400 Gifted Students Across UAE Schools Since Start of 2025 - Middle East Business News and Information

Dubai, UAE, May, 2025: Hamdan Center for Giftedness and Innovation, part of Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, announced that the Hamdan Talent Scale has played a key role in identifying a large number of gifted students in schools across the UAE. Since the beginning of 2025, nearly 9,000 students have been evaluated through the national Talent Identification Program, resulting in the discovery of more than 400 gifted students. This outcome underscores the accuracy and efficiency of the scale and reinforces the development of tailored programs to support this exceptional group of learners.
Dr Mariam Al Ghawi, Director of Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Centre for Giftedness and Innovation, commented: 'Through the grace of God and the dedicated efforts of those overseeing the program, we have successfully identified a substantial number of gifted students across the Emirates. This progress reflects the Foundation's commitment to staying abreast of global advances in talent identification and is deeply rooted in the long-term vision of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum (may he rest in peace). Dr. Al Ghawi emphasized that the Hamdan Talent Scale is distinguished by its focus on a broad set of academic, scientific, and cognitive skills, while also integrating environmental and cultural dimensions specific to the UAE context.
The Talent Identification Program targets students from Grade 4 to Grade 12 in both public and private schools across all Emirates. Students may be nominated through two pathways: self-nomination, where the student or guardian submits an application via the Foundation's website, or group nomination, coordinated directly with schools and relevant educational bodies.
Program officials noted that Hamdan Talent Scale has gained widespread recognition among educators and talent development centers both within the UAE and internationally. This momentum has led to the launch of several initiatives focused on identifying gifted students, including strategic partnerships with government and private institutions, participation in academic conferences and expert forums, and delivery of specialized training workshops on using the scale. Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences has announced the completion of the screening process for the 2025 Medical Awards, which aim to recognize outstanding achievements in healthcare at both the local and regional levels. According to the awards committee, this year's cycle received a total of 330 submissions from 18 countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Egypt, Oman, Iraq, India, Kuwait, the United Kingdom, Qatar, Jordan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Morocco, the United States, Pakistan, Tunisia, Syria, and Ghana. Following an initial review, 261 submissions advanced to the administrative and technical screening stage, which involved verifying compliance with the award's eligibility criteria and guidelines. Of those, 161 applications were confirmed as eligible and are now set to proceed to the judging phase, scheduled to begin on 2 June and continue until 15 October. The judging process will be carried out by specialized committees comprising distinguished experts in the field. Each submission will be assessed according to the specific evaluation criteria established for each award category. Dr. Salama Al Muhairi, Director of Medical Excellence at Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, emphasized the significance of this stage, noting that the evaluation and screening of submissions adhere to the highest standards to ensure transparency and fairness throughout the process. She added that these efforts reflect the merit and credibility of the Medical Excellence Awards, which seek to spotlight innovations and achievements that contribute to the advancement of medical practices. The awards also aim to encourage and support researchers in producing impactful and innovative studies in medicine and healthcare. The first is dedicated to supporting health and research achievements across the Arab world and includes the Arab Award for Health Sector Research and the Arab Award for Genetic Sciences. The second category focuses on recognizing exceptional contributions within the United Arab Emirates and includes the Best Research in Healthcare Award, the Innovation in Healthcare Award, and the Hamdan Award for Distinguished Personalities. So, congratulations to those for whom Hajj has been ordained this year. I feel as though I am standing amidst the crowd, pilgrims in their white garments, moving with steady steps towards the Kaaba, their hearts echoing: "Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk." How blessed are you, those whom our God has chosen to be His guests, and how blessed are you, circling His Sacred House. How fortunate you are, supplicating before the Kaaba, tears flowing unconsciously. People are like ocean waves in circumambulation; you cannot distinguish one from another. The rich beside the poor, the Arab beside the non-Arab, all saying, "O Allah," and wishing for forgiveness. And in Arafat, prayers ascend to the heavens, and hearts are tethered to mercy, forgiveness, and pardon… O God, grant us a share. We are here in our homes, perhaps far from the scene, but our hearts are there… We prepare for the sacrifice and chant the Takbirat: "Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illa Allah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar wa lillahil Hamd." (Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, there is no god but Allah, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, and to Allah belongs all praise.) Congratulations to those who have reached the Prophet's sanctuary and stood at his noble door, greeting him with uncontainable tears and hearts bearing longing and certainty. From the illuminated city of Medina to the honored city of Mecca, the stations of light unfold. In the circumambulation around the Kaaba, everything strips away the worldly and its adornments; faces turn towards the One and Only, and hearts beat: "Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk." Waves of humanity flow, old and young, men and women, from every color and tongue… "My turn, O God, my turn, to Arafat, to Muzdalifah, to Mina." And as the Day of Arafat approaches, homes begin their preparations. Sacrificial animals are bought, courtyards are cleaned, and hearts are made ready to receive the Day of Sacrifice. Eid al-Adha is not just a moment of joy, but a moment of awareness of Prophet Ibrahim's obedience, Prophet Ismail's submission, and the renewal of the covenant with Allah. I know that many applied for Hajj visas but it was not Allah's will for them to be among the pilgrims.
