Dynatrace unveils AI-powered platform to drive autonomous IT

Techday NZ23-07-2025
Dynatrace has announced enhancements to its observability platform, unveiling a suite of new capabilities focused on accelerating the adoption of autonomous intelligence in enterprise operations.
The updated observability platform introduces a range of features aimed at simplifying cloud operations, strengthening IT security, and supporting teams as they manage complex and dynamic digital infrastructures. Thousands of enterprise customers are already working with the new platform to enable data-driven decisions and automated actions across various operational environments.
Redefining observability
The latest enhancements expand observability to encompass not only insights but also automation across information technology, cloud, security, and business functions. Bernd Greifeneder, Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Dynatrace, stated, "We are elevating the value of observability and building for the future of AI. The 3rd generation platform has been built to harness a goldmine of observability data in context and turn it into real-time knowledge for AI, creating actionable insights and automation, paving the way for autonomous intelligence."
Central to the 3rd generation platform is Grail, a massively parallel processing data lakehouse. This infrastructure unifies observability, security, and business data, offering AI-driven analytics and automated workflows designed to extract precise business insights from varied telemetry sources. These new capabilities address the prevailing growth of data within cloud-native and distributed systems, making real-time analysis and decision-making more accessible to enterprises.
Development acceleration
The platform includes features designed specifically for developer productivity and cloud-native architectures. Developers can now ingest and analyse data from cloud and serverless environments via self-service access. Enhanced data visualisation options have also been introduced, alongside a live debugger that supports thousands of developer sessions simultaneously with privacy protections. The Dynatrace MCP server further allows integration of real-time observability data directly into AI-assisted development workflows, enabling prompt issue resolution and bolstering security directly within development environments.
Operational automation
Dynatrace has expanded the Davis AI capabilities for preventive operations, now including agentic AI for automated root cause analysis and remediation across scenarios involving multiple teams. The suite features guided troubleshooting, interactive recommendations, and natural language capabilities for summarising and explaining incidents, aiming to minimise manual interventions. Davis CoPilot provides teams with a natural language interface to conduct advanced analytics, develop workflows, and create dashboards, enhancing collaboration between ITOps, SRE, DevSecOps, and development teams.
Log management improvements
The company has also released upgrades to its log management systems. Businesses can analyse logs in real time and in context with other observability data through enhancements to the Dynatrace Logs app and Davis CoPilot. New flexible pricing models have been introduced, including both retention and usage-based options, and the platform now supports hot storage for up to ten years. Organisations can manage log data at petabyte-per-day scale, with simplified, secure log collection for Kubernetes environments, reducing the overhead commonly associated with legacy log management solutions.
Steve Tack, Chief Product Officer at Dynatrace, commented, "With the volume of data worldwide expected to double over the next three years, plus increasingly dynamic and complex digital ecosystems and the rise of AI, businesses need solutions that do more than provide visibility. Our newest capabilities are designed to drive proactive, intelligent automation that help entire teams across an organisation connect the dots to better understand their digital systems and continuously improve business outcomes."
Customer feedback "The AI and predictive capabilities from Dynatrace were a differentiator," said Jos Kerssens, Senior Vice President, IT Operations & Cloud Transformation at Air France-KLM. "We're confident that any problem that arises can be dealt with quickly, dramatically reducing operational and revenue impact."
Kulvir Gahunia, Director, Site Reliability Office at TELUS, said, "At TELUS, AI is fundamental to our digital transformation strategy, and our partnership with Dynatrace has been valuable in enhancing our capabilities. By combining our Agentic AI initiatives with Dynatrace's AI Observability capabilities, we've successfully optimised our development and operations workflows. This collaboration has enabled us to streamline incident resolution to minutes, from detection to pull requests. Through this integration of AI technologies, we're driving innovation and delivering measurable business impact while reducing downtime."
Partner ecosystem
Dynatrace's partner network includes collaborations with industry service providers to further extend the platform's reach. James Taylor, Global General Manager, Enterprise Applications at DXC Technology, said, "By combining DXC's enterprise transformation expertise with Dynatrace's next-generation observability platform, we empower the world's leading brands to accelerate application modernisation and harness the full power of AI-driven insights. As Dynatrace's Global Partner of the Year, DXC is proud to lead the way in simplifying complexity, driving innovation, and enabling smarter, faster decision-making at scale."
Industry perspective
Industry analysts have also recognised the new platform's impact. Rob Strechay, Managing Director & Principal Analyst Cloud Native, Data Platforms, Infrastructure at theCube Research, remarked, "Dynatrace 3rd generation observability platform represents a significant leap forward in managing the complexity of modern, cloud-native and AI-driven environments. By unifying data and automating workflows with advanced AI capabilities, Dynatrace empowers enterprises to not only address operational challenges but also enable autonomous operations at scale. This approach is redefining how organisations turn complexity into clarity, unlocking new opportunities for innovation and driving measurable business outcomes."

Kiwi creator on why he turned down huge offers to plug online gambling

A New Zealand content creator is speaking out about the harms of gambling after revealing he was offered more than $500,000 to promote offshore gambling websites. Louis Davis is a Kiwi content creator with a following of over 3 million across all platforms, and has taken to his social media platforms to warn others about the risks. Speaking with Breakfast this morning, Davis said he received the promotional offers in his email inbox. "We get hammered with emails every day, they're pretty consistent," he said. When asked on why he decided to turn down the offer, he said that gambling promotions are causing real harm in communities and were encouraging addictive behaviour. ADVERTISEMENT 'We are living in an age now where you can gamble in your car, on the toilet, or at work. The morning's headlines in 90 seconds, including deadly Texas floods, Australian woman attacked by a lion, and Elon Musk's new political party. (Source: 1News) 'There used to be a time and a place for it, but now because of our phones we have access 24/7 to it. 'If they're offering me over $500,000 to ask you to gamble, imagine how much they're stealing from you.' Data from the Department of Internal Affairs showed that in 2022/23, New Zealanders lost $2.76 billion gambling on the four regulated gambling sectors - Lotto New Zealand, TAB NZ, casinos and class 4 gambling (pokies). Growing up in Northland, Davis said he witnessed the impacts of gambling firsthand. "I see the harm of this in my communities, and what it takes from us." he told Breakfast. ADVERTISEMENT "There's a reason they give money to people that look like me. They're going after my community." Davis said he would love to see changes around the rules of advertising, so people don't continue to be tempted by offers from gambling companies. "People get put in this real hard position, where it's undeniable life-changing money. I almost have empathy for people who have to make that decision," "I'd love to see changes made to that system; I don't want it to be a decision people have to make." DIA has been cracking down on the promotion of offshore gambling, sending cease-and-desist letters to some influencers, and monitoring other accounts. Millie Elder-Holmers was recently fined $5000 for promoting online gambling. Under the Gambling Act it is illegal to publish an advertisement for an offshore gambling operator.
