Frustrated Reynolds rues DPMM draw with Police after ceding two-goal lead
Making their first appearance in the competition since the 2007-08 season, DPMM raced ahead inside six minutes through Ramadhan Sananta and Miguel Oliveira.
But Police hit back, with South Korean import Park Tae Su striking twice in the 67th and 71st minutes to level the contest.
DPMM coach McAllister Reynolds was left ruing his side's missed chances.
"We should have scored more than two goals today. We could have put the game to bed with a third," he said.
"In the second half, credit to Police, but we could have defended their goals better.
"There were individual mistakes. We have a lot of new players, so it takes time to gel. At 2-2, we still created chances — it's frustrating."
DPMM rejoined the M-League after several seasons in Singapore's S-League.
Meanwhile, Kelantan the Real Warriors (KTRW) coach E. Elavarasan admitted his side were second best in a 4-0 defeat to Kuching City at the Sarawak Stadium, blaming poor defending and a lack of physicality.
"Kuching were better prepared and more competitive. They've played together for years, and you can see the difference," he said. "We need to find more quality players."
Kuching's goals came from Ronald Ngah Wanja (second, 71st), Joao Pedro (18th) and Ramadhan Saifullah (90th).
In Batu Kawan, KL City cruised to a 3-0 win over Immigration FC, ending a 30-year wait for a season-opening victory with a clean sheet.

A darting run, a clean finish and Ramadhan had put Brunei ahead against Police. Three minutes later, the 22-year-old Indonesian striker turned provider, slipping in a perfect pass for Miguel Oliveira to make it two. By the sixth minute of his debut, Ramadhan had done what every striker dreams of, a goal and an assist before the opposition had even settled. And while Police clawed their way back through Park Tae-su's quickfire double in the second half to force a 2-2 draw, the headlines belonged to the man in Brunei yellow. Now, the stage is set for a much bigger test. On Tuesday (Aug 12), last season's Super League runners-up Selangor await at the Petaling Jaya Stadium and Ramadhan is the man they will be watching closest. Patient Turtles kill Penang slowly
KUALA LUMPUR: The Turtles took their time against Penang in their Super League opener at the City Stadium on Sunday. Though Terengganu had no goals to show in the first half, they eventually found the Penang net through Azam Azmi Murad (50th minute), Gabriel Silva (55th) and Khalai'f Naskam (88th). "Penang were disciplined and made it hard for us," said Terengganu coach Badrul Afzan Razali. "But after the first goal, the game opened up and we capitalised on their mistakes." Penang coach Wan Rohaimi Wan Ismail said: "The first goal killed my players' fighting spirit. After that, they lost their rhythm and focus. When the second goal went in, any hope of a comeback was gone. "We were lucky to have lost only 3-0, the errors we made could have cost us more. "I apologise to our supporters who came in numbers.
