Frustrated Reynolds rues DPMM draw with Police after ceding two-goal lead
Making their first appearance in the competition since the 2007-08 season, DPMM raced ahead inside six minutes through Ramadhan Sananta and Miguel Oliveira.
But Police hit back, with South Korean import Park Tae Su striking twice in the 67th and 71st minutes to level the contest.
DPMM coach McAllister Reynolds was left ruing his side's missed chances.
"We should have scored more than two goals today. We could have put the game to bed with a third," he said.
"In the second half, credit to Police, but we could have defended their goals better.
"There were individual mistakes. We have a lot of new players, so it takes time to gel. At 2-2, we still created chances — it's frustrating."
DPMM rejoined the M-League after several seasons in Singapore's S-League.
Meanwhile, Kelantan the Real Warriors (KTRW) coach E. Elavarasan admitted his side were second best in a 4-0 defeat to Kuching City at the Sarawak Stadium, blaming poor defending and a lack of physicality.
"Kuching were better prepared and more competitive. They've played together for years, and you can see the difference," he said. "We need to find more quality players."
Kuching's goals came from Ronald Ngah Wanja (second, 71st), Joao Pedro (18th) and Ramadhan Saifullah (90th).
In Batu Kawan, KL City cruised to a 3-0 win over Immigration FC, ending a 30-year wait for a season-opening victory with a clean sheet.

Turtles turn the tide after coach Badrul's halftime call
PETALING JAYA: A simple halftime reminder proved the spark for Terengganu's dominant 3-0 win over Penang in their Super League opener on Sunday. In a rain-soaked encounter at the City Stadium in Georgetown, the first half was lively but goalless, with the Turtles carving out numerous openings through French striker Yan Mabella and Brazilian winger Gabriel Silva. Penang goalkeeper Khairulazhan Khalid produced a string of excellent saves, while both teams were denied potential penalties by referee Khairulsyahmi Ahmad Khalidi. At the break, Terengganu coach Badrul Afzan Razali kept his message clear – be patient. 'I reminded the boys to be a bit more patient in the second half. 'We had the ball, so we just needed to make quick attacks and play the right through passes. 'We worked well as a unit and deserved the win,' said Badrul. The response was instant. Four minutes into the second half, centreback Safwan Mazlan split the defence with a pass to Azam Azmi Murad, who fired low past Khairulazhan. Six minutes later, Mabella found Silva, whose toe-poke made it 2-0. Badrul then rotated his attack to keep players fresh, a move that paid off when substitute Khala'if Naskam scored with his first touch in the 88th minute, latching onto fellow substitute Baqiuddin Shamsuddin's through ball. 'Khala'if came in and scored — it was perfect for us,' Badrul said. The win gave Terengganu a flying start to their campaign, while Penang coach Wan Rohaimi Wan Ismail admitted his side 'lost rhythm' after the interval. Terengganu next host Police in Gong Badak tomorrow, while Penang face Melaka in Hang Jebat.

Lightning Ramadhan ready to strike twice
Solid show: Ramadhan Sananta (centre) in action during the Super League game. - Bernama PETALING JAYA: It just took three minutes for debutant Ramadhan Sananta to underline his prowess for Brunei as they drew 2-2 against Police in the Super League match at the Selayang Stadium on Saturday. A darting run, a clean finish and Ramadhan had put Brunei ahead against Police. Three minutes later, the 22-year-old Indonesian striker turned provider, slipping in a perfect pass for Miguel Oliveira to make it two. By the sixth minute of his debut, Ramadhan had done what every striker dreams of, a goal and an assist before the opposition had even settled. And while Police clawed their way back through Park Tae-su's quickfire double in the second half to force a 2-2 draw, the headlines belonged to the man in Brunei yellow. Now, the stage is set for a much bigger test. On Tuesday (Aug 12), last season's Super League runners-up Selangor await at the Petaling Jaya Stadium and Ramadhan is the man they will be watching closest. "We know Selangor are a strong and big team in Malaysia. It's not an easy task, but all the players are ready to give their best," Ramadhan said with quiet confidence. Signed from Indonesian Liga 1 side Persis Solo, Ramadhan's move to Brunei was to prove himself against some of South-East Asia's best defenders. His mission is clear: become a lethal finisher and win back his place in the Indonesian national team, where competition is fierce with the likes of Rafael Struick, Ole Romeny, Stefano Lilipaly and Ragnar Oratmangoen. Ramadhan has so far won 15 caps with Indonesia, scoring five goals. "I'm still learning to become a good and sharp striker. Perhaps in every opportunity, I should be able to score a goal. "I am very happy to be able to play in the Malaysian league, where we know there are many talented and quality players. And I have a strong ambition to score more goals and compete alongside other strikers." For Selangor's backline, that's the danger - Ramadhan does not just get chances, he makes them happen. Last weekend was his announcement. Next could be his statement.

Patient Turtles kill Penang slowly
KUALA LUMPUR: The Turtles took their time against Penang in their Super League opener at the City Stadium on Sunday. Though Terengganu had no goals to show in the first half, they eventually found the Penang net through Azam Azmi Murad (50th minute), Gabriel Silva (55th) and Khalai'f Naskam (88th). "Penang were disciplined and made it hard for us," said Terengganu coach Badrul Afzan Razali. "But after the first goal, the game opened up and we capitalised on their mistakes." Penang coach Wan Rohaimi Wan Ismail said: "The first goal killed my players' fighting spirit. After that, they lost their rhythm and focus. When the second goal went in, any hope of a comeback was gone. "We were lucky to have lost only 3-0, the errors we made could have cost us more. "I apologise to our supporters who came in numbers. We hope to bounce back with a different approach in the next match against Melaka (on Wednesday)." Meanwhile Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) host Negri Sembilan at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium tomorrow. JDT head coach Xisco Munoz said their 3-0 win over Selangor in the Charity Shield had boosted the players' confidence. Brunei's DPMM are bracing for a more formidable challenge against Selangor at MBPJ Stadium tomorrow after drawing 2-2 with Police in their opener. DPMM head coach Mcallister James Reynolds said: "It will be a tough game. We need to be ready, recover well, review our performance, and prepare for Selangor."
