Texas football DE Colton Vasek to reportedly undergo shoulder surgery
Texas football defensive end Colton Vasek will undergo shoulder surgery Monday, according to a report from 247 Sports' Chip Brown. Vasek's surgery will include the repair of a torn labrum.
The rising sophomore made his debut in 2024 against Colorado State after redshirting his freshman year. Vasek flashed his potential early in the season, recording a sack against UTSA and Mississippi State. However, shoulder and hip injuries limited his effectiveness late in the season, preventing him from adding to those numbers.

With Barryn Sorrell moving to the NFL, the Longhorns will look to Vasek for consistent contributions in 2025 alongside fellow Westlake alumnus Ethan Burke. A rising senior, Burke's production dipped from his 5.5 sack sophomore season, recording two sacks as a junior.
Vasek doesn't have Burke's experience but may be more talented according to the 247 Sports Composite, which ranked him as a four-star and Burke as a three-star. Vasek was one of the Chaparral's best defensive players ever, recording 71 tackles and 14 sacks his senior season. He was a big contributor to Westlake's remarkable run of 54 straight wins and three consecutive state titles, which ended at the hands of Galena Park North Shore in 2023.

What Jared Curtis' commitment means to Georgia's 2026 class
When Jared Curtis originally committed to Georgia last March, Kirby Smart likely thought he had the cornerstone of his 2026 class and quarterback of the future. Instead, Curtis threw a wrench in those plans with his decommitment in October. Despite that decision, Smart and the Bulldogs never let up and remained a constant presence in Curtis' recruitment. Advertisement That consistency paid off Monday afternoon as the five-star quarterback out of Nashville Christian announced that he had recommitted to the Bulldogs in a decision between Georgia and Oregon. A few schools made the list for Curtis following his October decommitment. That list was narrowed down to two in late March after he announced his top two of Georgia and Oregon, as well as his commitment date. Since then, both schools have gone to work putting together their final pitches for Curtis. He recently hosted both coaching staff members ahead of his decision. Ultimately, it was Smart and the Bulldogs that regained his favor, and what a decision it was for them. Advertisement Best Georgia high schools for athletes? According to one study, these are the top 25 According to 247Sports, Curtis ranks as the No. 13 player in the country and the No. 4 quarterback in the 2026 recruiting cycle. MSU target, 3-star edge rusher Cory House reportedly cancels official visits at IU, UNC
MSU target, 3-star edge rusher Cory House reportedly cancels official visits at IU, UNC A Michigan State recruiting target has reportedly cancelled a pair of upcoming official visits following his visit to East Lansing, Mich. this past weekend. Three-star edge rusher Cory House has reportedly cancelled upcoming official visits to North Carolina and Indiana, according to 247Sports. House also has moved up his official visits for Iowa and Memphis, with a trip to Iowa now planned for June 5 and a visit to his hometown school of Memphis on June 13. House took an official visit to Michigan State his past weekend, which appeared to go well based on reports from out of the visit. House is considered a high-priority target for the Spartans in the 2026 class. House holds a recruiting rating of 87 on 247Sports, and ranks as the No. 66 edge rusher in the class. He is also listed as the No. 19 player from Tennessee and No. 825 player in the country. House cancelling a pair of official visits bodes well for the Spartans in their pursuit of House. With visits to Iowa and Memphis still on the books, it appears House is still working his way through the recruiting process. It just now looks like it's shaping up to be a three-team race between the Spartans, Hawkeyes and Tigers.
