'Stolen' car in crash on Scots road as three rushed to hospital and dog killed

The driver of a 'stolen' Corsa and two pensioners have been airlifted to hospital after a horror crash in the Highlands.

The incident took place at around 8.45am on, July 18 when emergency services were called to a two-vehicle crash on the A96 at Newton of Petty, near Inverness.

Police and ambulances attended the scene and the road remains closed while a probe is carried out.

The 50-year-old female driver of the red Vauxhall Corsa was flown by air ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
A 74-year-old woman, who was the passenger of a black Volvo XC60, was also taken by air ambulance to the same hospital. The 74-year-old male driver of the Volvo was taken by road ambulance to Raigmore Hospital.

A dog travelling in the Corsa died at the scene.
It has been established the Corsa had earlier been reported stolen from the Buckie area.
Sergeant Ewan Calder said: 'Our enquiries into the crash and the events leading up to it are ongoing.
'I'm appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened, or saw the vehicles prior to the collision, to contact us. I'd also ask drivers with dash-cams to review their footage and bring anything of significance to our attention.'

The force said she vanished from Kilmarnock at around 8.15pm last Friday. ‌ The last sighting of the 36-year-old was in the East Ayrshire town's North Hamilton Street, and officers want locals to review CCTV footage or doorbell camera for any clues. ‌ A picture of Michelle, wearing a pink top, was posted on the Police Scotland Ayrshire Facebook page. The post said she is 5ft 5ins tall and is of medium build. The force said she also has long brown/blonde hair and that she has a distinctive tattoo on the left-hand-side of her face, which is a star design. ‌ The tattoo can be seen in the picture of her posted alongside the missing person appeal. The tattoo is two stars and sits underneath her eye, just above her cheek.
