NBK-Egypt's profits hit $84mln in H1-25; total assets up 5%
Net operating income stood at EGP 7.70 billion in H1-25, marking a 28% year-on-year (YoY) increase from EGP 6.10 billion, according to the financial results.
The lender reported 31% higher net interest income at EGP 6.70 billion in the first six months (6M) of 2025, compared to EGP 5.20 billion in H1-24.
Excluding interests, the net operating income increased by 35% to EGP 199 million in H1-25 from EGP 147 million in H1-24.
Total assets reached EGP 206 billion by the end of June 2025, up 5% from EGP 196 billion as of 31 December 2024. Meanwhile, the customer deposits grew by 4% to EGP 166 billion from EGP 160 billion.
Shaikha Al Bahar, Chairman of NBK-Egypt, commented on the bank's performance, elaborating that the easing of geopolitical tensions in the region would significantly support the Egyptian economy and unlock greater investment opportunities.
She also addressed the country's future outlook and the measures undertaken by the Egyptian government as well as the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
Yasser El-Tayeb, CEO and Managing Director of NBK-Egypt, noted: 'The bank's solid financial indicators in H1-25 underscore its ability to sustain growth and deliver strong business results, despite the exceptional challenges facing the business environment on the local and global fronts due to ongoing political instability and its economic ramifications.'
As of 31 March 2025, NBK-Egypt logged net profits valued at EGP 2 billion (KWD 12.60 million).

Amlak Finance posts $54.5mln revenue in H1 2025
Amlak Finance PJSC today announced its H1 2025 financial results for the period that ended 30th June 2025. The company continued to focus on prudently managing its UAE operations and balance sheet. Amlak reported a net profit after income tax of AED18.53 million for H1 2025 compared to net profit after income tax of AED7 million for H1 2024. Total revenue for H1 2025 increased by 61% year-on-year to AED200 million compared to AED124 million in H1 2024. Revenues from the share of profit from joint ventures and net income from development properties increased to AED54 million compared to a net income of AED5 million in H1 2024. Amlak's operating costs decreased by 3% to AED40 million in H1 2025, compared to AED41 million in the same period last year. Amlak completed the sale of Ras Al Khor land plots for a total consideration of AED2.9 billion during the period, with transfer of ownership and receipt of full proceeds in July 2025. Further, Amlak successfully executed a partial sale of a 29% stake in its investment in an associate in KSA during the period. Subsequent to the period ended 30th June 2025, Amlak completed the sale of its remaining 71% stake on 31 July 2025, accordingly, fully divested its investment in the associate. The company remained committed to meeting its financial obligations, repaying AED35 million to financiers during the second quarter. Subsequent to the period ended 30th June 2025, Amlak fully settled its remaining financiers by paying a total of AED906 million, including profit in July 2025. In the region, Amlak's investments contributed AED5 million in income during H1 2025.

Dubai: New app to help officials report public cleanliness violations
Select government officials will now be able to document public cleanliness violations on a newly launched app. Titled Eltizam, the platform was designed by Dubai Municipality to maintain the position of the emirate as one of the cleanest cities in the world. Authorised users can take photos of violations, automatically capture their location, add contextual notes, and record breaches of cleanliness regulations in real time on the app. A key milestone in DM's digital transformation efforts, Eltizam shows the city's vision of fostering shared responsibility between officials and the community to protect urban aesthetics, public health, and environmental sustainability. 'Public cleanliness is not a technical issue alone — it is a civic value and a shared commitment,' said Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality. He added: 'Eltizam reinforces that every official and every citizen plays a role in shaping a sustainable, liveable Dubai for generations to come.' He added that the app reflects the vision of a 'pioneering city where technology and regulation work together' to protect Dubai's urban appeal. Earlier this year, Dubai secured the top position globally for city cleanliness for the fifth year in a row as per the Global Power City Index (GPCI) report issued by the Institute for Urban Strategies at the Mori Memorial Foundation in Japan. Dubai Customs seizes over 6 million fake cigarettes in 35-tonne bust
Dubai Customs has seized over 35 tonnes of counterfeit, smuggled, and non-compliant goods over the course of three months since the start of 2025. In a tweet on Tuesday, Dubai Customs said that this was the "largest operation of its kind since the start of 2025" and took place across the air cargo centres of the city. The authority, in the campaign, recorded more than 12 million smuggled cigarettes, 6.7 million counterfeit cigarettes, 37,110 cosmetics that do not conform to terms and conditions, 3,632 undeclared electronic parts and 10,520 counterfeit items of international brands. In 2024, Dubai Customs recorded 54 seizures involving 10.8 million counterfeit items, as part of its efforts to protect intellectual property rights. This campaign is part of the authority's continuous efforts to safeguard the nation's borders, combat all forms of smuggling and commercial fraud, and protect the health, safety, and economic interests of the community.
